    Cat chewing on electric cords

How do I discourage this? My cat has taken an interest in chewing on electrical cords in order to get attention. He does it mainly when he wants to be fed- 4 times a day. It is very dangerous for him and aggravating for me. I have started locking him in the bathroom when I know we are...

How to get cats to stop chewing on wires

Yes, there is slit plastic tubing for cords. It's called Chewsafe and made specifically to prevent cats from chewing on cords. Chewsafe I had to put it on all my AC adaptor cords because Mingo was fascinated with them and I had spent a fortune replacing the adaptors.

    What's on Your Mind Thread - 2024

Dropped off the wee one for her itty bitty kitty surgery this morning, she yowled so loudly the whole way but then at the office she crawled on my shoulder to make biscuits while purring. Nervous but hopefully she comes through ok and has a much more comfortable life after this. Came home and...

How to differentiate between normal chewing/biting behavior and mild pica?

I had a cat who when she was young chewed on everything. Cords, the couch, etc. I even got her some hard chew sticks. She was past teething. I ended up kind of thinking maybe it was kind of a stress/anxiety relief or something but maybe that was just her personality - not related to the chewing...

How to differentiate between normal chewing/biting behavior and mild pica?

I had a kitten that chewed on cords, it was a nightmare. I remember trying everything to get him to stop, but, if memory serves, he eventually just grew out of it, too. That kitten would bite me quite hard on occasion, too. That's scary, what kinds of toys did she eat?

    Cat Chewing

So a very common issue with kitties I supposed, but my case is not very dramatic (i.e. she's not really that interested with electric cords... yet). I had to exclude any fishing pole type toys as she'll just chew right through the string. She likes to eviscerate or rip parts of her mice toys as...

Can anyone recommend a good chew toy for a cat?

silver vine twigs might work but chewing on cords is somthing you really need to prevent your cat from doing. 120 volts from a normal ac outlet is enough to kill a person all it takes is your cat chewing on that one wrong cord at that one wrong time to fry it dead.

    Electric Cords

Hello! I'm planning to get a 3 month old cat. I have a lot of cords in my bedroom right now, which is where it will be a lot of the time. I need most of these things. The cords are: an extension cord, my alarm clock, my fan, my lamp, my LED lights, my laptop charger, my other fan (can get rid...

Advice on how to best help my kitten

At least laptop chargers aren't solid aluminium. Kabuto destroyed a custom made set of aluminum blinds when he was younger by chewing them. And chipped his tooth in the process.

    My cat doesn't recognize me

There are cord protectors that you can buy, which seems that would be better than using pepper sauce. These are just two examples - Amazon.com: WEDAWN Dog and Cat Cord Protector, 10 ft/ 2mm Thick Pet Wire Flexible Cable Sleeve, for USB Charger Cable Power Cord Audio Video Cable, Unscented...

    Best no chew deterrent?

Anyone have a recommendation for a no-chew spray? My cat does not typically chew on cords, but LOVES to chew on the christmas tree. She ended up chewing through a cord last year (luckily it was unplugged at the time) and I have to buy a new tree, so want to be prepared. I can't use a scat mat...

    Licking plastic

Both of my boys will chew plastic bags from the grocery store. But Hank….he’s cost me a fortune in iPhone cords. He knows the white cord is the most expensive and chews it in half as soon as he gets his chompers on them. He also loves anything silicone. I’ve thought it might be pica but I...

    Would this be horrible?

I think your solution could work well. 😀 Other things to try are to clip Ollies claws, and train him not to do that, hang on to you etc. And for the tubes- my Quinn, a meezer hooligan, was a monster as a kitten and he still can be, lol. He has a chewing issue with electric cords and other...

    Safe scent deterrents?

I'm wondering if there are any safe scent deterrents for cats? I have electrical and other wires/cords enclosed in plastic tubing covers to prevent chewing and I turn off/unplug and stow away electronics when I leave the room but my foster kittens still sometimes like to bat the plastic tubing...

    Would this be horrible?

We do have all the electrical cords covered with conduit. I would have to ask my pulmonologist if it's okay to cover the cpap hose. They do sell such a thing so it would probably be fine. Ollie really goes for my face though, especially around the mask. We do keep his nails trimmed but my...

Help with heated pet pads in feral cat shelters

Absolutely it is, and right now it's also a true act of love, given the cost of energy. I had looked into these pads for my outdoor cats, and found the same you have, I think, with a 5-level temperature setting and protected power cords, for safety against chewing. What I read, though, was that...

Can anyone recommend a good chew toy for a cat?

Terra the Cat LOOOOOVES stirings and cords, but for her, the only thing better than playing with a string or cord is chewing on it. She used to chew on the cord of my nice gaming mouse until I got a Mac and switched to wireless. Now, she prefers to chew on the drawstring of my sweatpants. I...

    Cat fountain advice

I'm not familiar with Drinkwell, but own a couple. The one I use now is a stainless steel one made by WOPET. It holds 2 liters is easy to clean. The filters however, are a bit on the expensive side and where the drinking area is, is also the cover so you can't see the water level. I also...
