Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

Yes, I let him out of his crate and now he’s playing with his two foster siblings. He definitely seems happier to be able to pounce and play and run, but may take a little longer to be comfortable with me now that he has his friends! 😂 thank you all for the support and guidance! Here they are...

Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

He definitely loves the two kittens and i get them to all play together. They don’t put up a fight when he bites and mounts them. I’ll hear a yelp and will shake a toy to distract him and then the kittens run away so he’s getting his playtime with them in. He must have known I was writing about...

Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

Thank you! I always try to sneak pets in when he’s relaxed from the back. He’s been my toughest “young” cat to socialize and I don’t mind giving him more time and patience and just want to make sure he’s no miserable about it.

Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

I agree, although this week after surgery he hasn’t wanted any attempts at touching and has swatted everytime I approach with the wand. Ive had shy kitties here for almost a year so I’m not too worried about time, I guess I just don’t want to be forcing something he hates. And how long do I keep...

Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

Thank you for replying! He actually likes other cats but he was found alone so he doesn’t know how to play, which is expected. If I had older kittens it might be fine to let them play, but the younger ones seem to not fight back when he tries rough housing. I don’t see him trying to hurt them...

Socializing feral older kitten - is it time to stop?

Hi everyone, I’ve been fostering cats for several years, including sick kittens, feral cats and kittens, dumped cats, etc. My rescue considers me to be a good socializer of feral cats and kittens. Many times I get cats and kittens that other fosters are overwhelmed or scared of. Most recently...

Ringworm - Can’t Seem To Get Negative Culture!

I think both hospitals and vets are worried about contagion so they will reject a cat entering surgery area that looks infected to prevent contamination or outbreak. My shelter already knew about the ringworm so they were waiting for two negative fungal cultures before letting my kitty trend...

    Cat Aggression, Is It Playful?

Thank you! Yes, it’s definitely rough play and spend about two hours a day in five sessions playing, bringing new toys, giving affection and I have an air compressor which makes a sound that scares him if he bites me too hard. It seems like this is just going to take time which is hard because...

    Cat Aggression, Is It Playful?

Thank you! Yes, I’ve looked at the Introduction threads. I feel like I’m doing all the steps but not seeing any of the progress that would allow me to keep moving forward. I keep worrying that the longer I’m isolating him the more it affects him negatively. He just took a hard bite on my ankle...

    Cat Aggression, Is It Playful?

Thank you! I have tried with a gate which he slipped his head through, a harness which he broke out of and then a crate. He does play very rough and he bites rough too. I want to keep trying but hoping I’m not making everyone miserable in the process in case he really doesn’t like cats?

    Cat Aggression, Is It Playful?

Hi! I’ve posted about my foster cat who displays aggression towards me, but can’t find an answer/solution. I rescued a young cat off the streets, he’s a little over one. He lived with other cats but while on the street but when I rescued him he had ringworm and I had to isolate him for over...

Foster Cat Loves To Bite And Stalk

Thank you! yes I’m hoping Nic just needs more time to mellow out. I have another foster cat, River with a heart condition who was feral and slowly warming up. He likes my cats and they sleep near each other but he takes cues like hissing from my cat and knows when he’s too close whereas Nic...

Foster Cat Loves To Bite And Stalk

Sorry! I didn’t mention that the vet thinks he’s a little over 1. He was unneutered and had pretty stinky pee til I got him neutered. Maybe why he was dumped :( I thought maybe his dominant behavior was just residual extra hormones?

Foster Cat Loves To Bite And Stalk

i have a foster cat I’ve been struggling to integrate with my cats and he also likes to bite and stalk me. I’ll try and summarize: In mid-February I was contacted to help rescue a cat that a feeder noticed had a bad uri. My rescue group said yes so I got him, but when it was discovered he also...

    Neuter Question-is This Normal?

There is a small spot that looks tender with a little dried blood. I’ve also never seen this line between both testes? Does anyone know what this is? I’ve tried googling but I can’t find any like images.
