cat waking us up at night to go out!

Thanks for al your advice guys. My good sense says ignore him so he doesn't get used to the miauw-attention link but my instinct at 6am (especially if I'm getting up top pee anyway) is to let him out till breakfast time. I will definitely try to resist for a few months :)

cat waking us up at night to go out!

I hope someone can advice me.. I adopted an older tomcat from the shelter last year and thought he would stay indoors mostly, but quite the opposite! I let him out during the day when I'm home as I have no cat flap and the door opens out onto the street. Besides it's a solid oak door and I...

My boy wakes me up 6+ times during a night

Hi there This is common with older cats. Maybe he just wants the reassurance that you are there. Besides a check up at the vets to rule out pain and illness, have you tried actualy sleeping with him on the bed so he is close to you and knows you are there? Also feeding him each time he wakes...

New cat pooping outside of resident cat's litterbox / by food bowls

Hi there One and half months is a reasonable time for them to have begun to get used to each other/at least co-exist, on the other hand with cats it can take much longer. I am also a bit stressed out as I have introduced an elderly tomcat to my 2 six year old females (you may have read my...

I adopted a tomcat 10 days ago but house is still chaotic!

Hi there thanks for the response. yes they are all neutered and I have installed a Feliway plug in where the 2 ladies mostly sit. On the one hand it could be much worse - as far as I know there have been no attacks, except when Henrietta smacks him! When they are all tired it is very...

I adopted a tomcat 10 days ago but house is still chaotic!

Any advice very welcome! My tomcat Stan is now with us about 10 days and mixing with the 2 girls while we are at work then supervised in the evenings and put in his bedroom at night (because we need our sleep!). It's actually going OK. He is not aggressive but Henrietta is! She hisses and...

Introductions - can anyone offer some more advice?

Thank you so much. Your encouragement and support really helps and I know it's early days and it seems to be going well so far. No attacks or aggression from the male cat (he is really tolerant). Polly is skittish anyways so I can't expect her to be suddenly supercalm! I plan to keep on doing...

Introductions - can anyone offer some more advice?

I introduced a 9 year old neutered tomcat to my 2, 6 year old spayed females, 6 days ago and followed the procedure recommended, isolation/scent & territory switching etc. When the girls started to get curious I let them meet Stan the new boy. It went OK, first nose to nose, then they backed off...

I'm a first-time prospective cat owner and need suggestions for a breed

Hi Punchy You seem to have too many requirements to be ready to be a cat owner! Sorry but cats are individual creatures who will have their own personality and foibles despite the characteristics of the breed and you have to accept this. Relax and go visit your local shelter..............you...

Hi I have a 17 year old female cat who is blind since 2/3 years. For about a year now she howls and miauws loudly if she thinks she is alone in the house or if she wakes up in the night and there is no one around. This is VERY disturbing and EXTREMEMLY noisy! It is caterwauling but she is...
