We have 2 plush “sherpa” throws that are incredibly warm. One was a gift from Kohls and DS loved it so much I got him his own when they were on clearance. Mooch loves them too. The top is more smooth fleece feeling but the bottom side is like a teddy bear almost.

On my own bed we use flannel sheets (The Big One brand from kohls.), a fleece blanket and a comforter. We have a king size bed so any bed blanket’s don’t really fit in our washer. Id have to use a laundromat to wash those.

DD has a duvet with cover on her bed. They come in different warmths too. So we just have to wash the cover and get it tied back in place. I got both on Amazon. I believe I saw different fillings for the duvet so you could probably find something you agree with there. Just check the sizes before you purchase because I noticed they weren’t all standard. It may partly have been because the cover I got was made in China and bed sizes can vary a bit around the world. Its been excellent though.

She had a very thick fleece comforter before that that was so cozy! I also found that one on Amazon when she was little. We’ve put it inside the duvet cover while finding the insert part too.

The freezers have been organized! It took me two hours yesterday, but I pulled everything out, re-organized them, and now the countdown begins to see how long it takes before I totally trash them and ruin my own system.
M maggiedemi they have faux down comforters. I have a cheap version from Wal-Mart, it's not exactly down-like but it's very warm, I can wash two in one load, and they are VERY lightweight which I like because I hate that weighed-down feeling.
This isn't exactly what I have, but it's the closest thing I can find on their website:
Elegant Comfort Down Alternative Reversible 3pc Comforter Set Full/Queen, Lilac/Purple - Walmart.com
I like that it's reversible, too!

What type of blankets do you guys use for winter? I'm very disappointed in my new fleece blanket that my brother got me. I thought it would be so warm, but I nearly froze to death last night and it's only August! I need something before winter gets here. Should I just get a second of the same fleece one and use two? Or should I get some other warmer material? I wanted to get away from bed spreads, since they take up so much room in the washing machine, they are a full load on their own.
In my climate layers are best. In the coldest weather on top of my sheet I have a flannel sheet, then a cotton waffle blanket. It lets me kick off one or more layers if I have a hot flash.

Yikes! I guess I won't ever be buying down. I can't believe they pluck them while still alive. Mean.
Thanks everybody for the ideas. Guess I'll need a second blanket. It's regular fleece, yes it looks like your flannel one, but it's all grey, not plaid. It's not sherpa. I think those have white underneath and I wanted all grey.

I wanted all gray too and never seen sherpa anything but white-with 4 dark kitties that just doesn't work!lol But boy oh boy that sherpa is light and warm-I have a smallish throw that's the best....I know exactly what you mean about stuffing comforters into the washing machine
...the ones like iPappy iPappy showed you are very warm, very light and not terribly bulky but King size is BIG-I got rid of mine and bought a Queen-believe it or not the washer issue was part of the reason because I'm not going to the laundry mat these days- living in South Florida with 24/7 A/C it can be like waking up in the North Pole some nights.....who woulda THUNK🎅

Oh I know, the air conditioning in the stores & restaurants ruins the summer for me. It makes me so cold! But I'm not carrying a coat in the summer just to wear inside!
That's life in South Florida, shopping you freeze, restaurants are cold, everywhere you go you need a jacket -after food shopping I can't get outside into the sun fast enough!
When my Mom eventually came to live here she said 'I was better off in NY,I'm freezing year round in Florida"!

DH has been keeping our AC lower this year. He works in the heat so I can't blame him for wanting the house colder. But when I'm the one going in and out I can't decide if it makes things better or worse. Like yesterday I spent just under an hour outside doing garden stuff and came back in feeling completely gross. I had to rush to shower and dress to get our groceries. I was still hot after showering and couldn't dry off fast enough. Then later I ended up turning the air back up because I'd gone from beyond chilled to straight cold.

I used to keep a sweater at work because it always got chilly after a while.

DH just text me this emoji: 🥵 so I'm going to stop complaining now.

I'm waiting for the guys to come reinstall our wood stove today. I got up early and didn't sleep well and I am SO ready for a nap. I won't tell DH that either.

We are back into the 80’s today. Yesterday was the 60’s and I felt cold all day, even with a sweatshirt on. I threw an extra blanket on the bed last night and it felt so good to be slightly chilly instead of sweaty all night.
I'll make you chuckle-I dozed off a little, barely awake and began reading your post--- I read: "We're back in the 80s today...." and my mind thought of big hair,Michael Jackson jackets -and then I woke up!🥱

Now my modem is acting up. I don't know what they did when the internet went down last week. Probably an update forcing people with older modems to buy a new one.
So if I disappear for some time, I'm waiting on a technician to bring a new modem. (Because, of course you can't just go pick it up and plug it in yourself. That would make them lose money)
I'm not calling them until this one crashes for good though.

Does anyone here play the Ukulele?

I came across a very affordable video beginner lesson program and thinking DD would be amused I sent it to her. And now of course she wants to take it... I see they are really an affordable instrument anyway. I sent it to DH and got some emoji reply that I think means "go ahead." I just need to find a Ukulele. And keep practicing spelling ukulele.

DH and I have bought our own modem/wifi router and returned the cable company's one. Of course I don't think we can get support on it except confirming service is working kind of things. There was one time we were having issues and the tech ended up being shocked at how out of date the one we had was. Like we pay you every month for this thing! Who knows how many times over we pay for rented equipment like that. :hmmm:

That is crazy. At least Comcast/Xfinity, my cable provider, has customer centers in convenient locations so you can stop in and get or exchange equipment. Seems like I have to do that with either my modem or cable box every couple years.

Yep! I play ukulele! It’s fun! Pretty easy, since only 4 strings. At some point you can stop looking at the tabs & it gets to be automatic. Your fingers get used to it all.

I've heard that in Southern Florida you can tell who the locals are vs. tourists because locals know to bring that jacket to the store or restaurant, and the tourists never think to do it!
