Damn it, I feel your pain! LOL. This place just keeps getting worse. I'm seriously thinking about moving to another place even though it will be more expensive. It's not just the food here, there are other problems. They are taking in people that should be in nursing homes. They don't care about the residents. All they care about is taking our life savings. Lately I have to throw up almost every morning because the odor of urine is so strong comming from my roommates room.

Last night they had Soup Du Jour, American Hamburgers or Grilled Cheese, Tator Tots, Grapes, Capri Blend listed on their menu. What they served us was Beef Vegetable soup, stake sub with tater tots and macaroni salad or a small baked potatoe with a yellow sauce and macaroni salad. They gave me the baked potato and macaroni salad. I had no idea what the yellow sauce was and the macaroni salad had eggs in it. I got up and came upstairs to my room and had a tomato sandwich with swiss cheese. Trying to explain to the two silly servers that acted like 5 year olds that I wanted something vegetarian would have been to difficult.
You are not alone with seriously ill people living in here. They do not belong: as the elevators cannot accommodate all the 'motorized scooters' which they use; the hallways are too narrow for the scooters, they have 24/7 aides--who are bringing Covid in here-- the apartments are too small to handle the scooters, and there is not enough room in the apartments for not only the scooters but for all the equipment the resident needs..
This was designed to be independent living.

There is not a fear, because the CEO of the cooperation who owns this building and others, announced his retirement for next year. The cooperation is sending a ton of money creating more buildings, in outlying areas of the City of Boston.
Nothing is mentioned about my building.. Which makes me wonder what the future plans will be for here.. ? turn it Ito assisted care--which has pretty much become--- or sell it?

Last night, I gave up on the food. I made my own salad.. rotisserie chicken, and good produce.. with some mixed fresh fruit for dessert.
Same for tonight.

I am on the "Food Committee"-- which is just a group to Placate us.. They do not listen to us.. Most of the people on the 'committee' are just going along with them--singing the praises of the food!! OMG.. I usually speak my mind.. The last meeting, I kept quiet, since the one before I was shut down.. I am ready to quit it.

I swear the 'Chief" does not know how to cook. He is not a real 'chief'.. he is an institutionalized cook.. from a nursing home who has been proclaimed as a great 'Chief"... These guys do to know how to cook. We had a real assistant Sous Chief. The food was so much better.. he cared. He would visit residents, to make sure they ate, and made anything they wanted: grilled cheese, veggie burger.. anything, if they could not eat what was on the menu. He cared. He quit when they would not promote him and give him a raise. Now, he is working in a local restaurant, which has great reviews.

These guys: the bottom line is the $$$$$......
They train kids.. I mean kids from off the street, and pretend they are sous chiefs.

C catapault Sometimes I'll save corn water/stock and then use it in my corn and pepper chowder. It freezes well, too, so use it in chicken corn soup. I also save my red beet cooking water and use that when I make my pickled red beet eggs. That freezes well, too.

Pizza tonight. It's not delivery; it's Digiorno. Super supreme, so I have to pick off the black olives.

Temperatures have suddenly cooled off, and humidity is gone, so that means it's Soup Season. For tonight I have black bean veggie soup in the slow cooker. I also have bananas are are super ripe, so I think I'll make banana chocolate chip muffins, one of which will be dessert.

Sounds like a perfectly delicious dinner! I haven’t had a chili dog in ages - I think I need to go to Sonic

After months of eating like a struggling college kid my Mom brought me out one of my favorite meals for lunch today and we ate and had a nice visit. Dinner was a frozen pot pie (they are actually quite good), not the best choice but definitely better than ramen and goldfish crackers.

Made eggplant parmesan and garlic bread for dinner.Sauce was from scratch with our own tomatoes...so good!Thankfully there's leftovers!
Homemade sauce is so delicious. I still have two or three cans I'm saving for a rainy day! I could go for some garlic bread too, it's extra good dipped in that homemade sauce.

I didn't say anything to him as he was napping while I was cooking, but I snuck in 2 anchovy fillets and 2 large caper berries.Adds a rich unidentifiable something to the sauce, but no fishy flavor at all.I love homemade sauce but I don't always have the time, and that eggplant was beautiful. It had to be today I couldn't wait!

A few times over the years I've made something for Mom and she'll say how good it was. Then I'll tease her and say, "So, do you want to know what's REALLY in it?" and watch her expression grow worried :p

We went out to dinner tonight with another couple at one of our favorite Asian restaurants. I had steamed veggies with tofu and brown rice. DH had mongolian beef with peppers, onions and scallions over white rice. We were too stuffed to have dessert.

Lunch was chicken Alfredo with broccoli. Not sure about dinner. Whatever is on top, or a breakfast sandwich.

My Mom's Meals (fresh prepared, refrigerated and delivered) did not arrive today as scheduled. Now, they'll have to reship, and I had planned those for next week. Drat. I'll put in an Instacart order for frozens. At least they won't go bad if the new MM shipment hits midweek.
