Hi to everyone one here.
I am relatively new on this forum and would like to thank everyone for sharing the information and support. I am so glad I have found this place!
My situation: a 4 year old rescue cat lives by us since 3 months. Since approximately 10 days she developed yellowish discharge fron one eye. After. a week of treatment with antibiotic eye drops advised by our vet, we had a consultation by a specialist where she was diagnosed with Herpes.
There have been no other notable symptoms, apart from her beeing nore agressive towards our other 2 cats.
The vet prescribed Famvir ( 62,5 mg a day) and hydro gel eye drops to alleviate the symptoms.
And advised to keep stress to minimum.
After reading the forum , I have added L-Lysine and probiotics. (Feliway is running here 24/7 anyway.)
My question is regarding antiviral eyedrops or cream.
The vet has stated that none are needed as they do not add much to the effect of Famvir but only extra stress for her. But after reading the featured articles on this forum regarding the importance of topical medications, I have my doubts.
What is your experience? Is it really normal not to give any antiviral drops/ creams etc?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
