This is so encouraging!!! I just bought my first house a year ago and brought in my first stray kitten 7 months ago. I’m only up to 5 but that’s 5 less cats forced to struggle through that rough street cat life!!
Thank you SO MUCH for all that you ALL do to help these beautiful animals. It’s such important work and yes, very expensive.
It’s been great to read some of the suggestions on here for saving money in the pursuit!!! I’ll be contacting pet food companies tomorrow! I’m on a good rapport with a local store chain and they keep me in the know when they’re running good clearances! Large cans of really good food for $.25 each! Can’t beat it!!!

I always say, saving lives; 9 at a time♥
Welcome! :welcomesign: It’s so nice to meet you and I am so glad those kitties have you. Only give? Actually that is great! Five is no small number. I’m so glad you are finding things here to relate to. Thank you for the kind words. How could I resist these kitties? It sounds like you are off to a roaring start!!:clap2:
I hope you will join the conversations on site and maybe share some kitty pictures with us? We love kitty pictures!
I love what you said about saving 9 lives at a time. So true!

Tonight is a Bonjour kind of night! Lol Inspired by being called a “tree dweller”, he is teaching for new heights! Lol

I made it! How do I get to the end?

strider rose strider rose Doing okay. Always on the run these days though. So sweet I am 2nd mom! Such an honor to be thought of with that kind of love! :hugs: Whistle likes that too. View attachment 406742
tabbytom tabbytom The kitties really are such good kitties! They deserve the everything happy!
That has to be one of my personal favorites when it comes to Pawverbs. They DO give us smiles! That’s a purromise!

N NY cat man Loving the jeans! The spray is awesome! That would definitely soften some denim! Lol That picture makes me want to go down to the sea again. It’s been a long time since I saw any wake at all, much less something like that breaking over the stern. Beautiful! I think I had heard the reasoning behind bell bottoms for sailors but I didn’t remember. Very good reason!
I have a homestead exemption for propert tax but no other discount. Mine are near yours before the discount! Ouch.

@dustydiamond1 I love those pictures of Gypsy! She is patiently waiting to claim the box! Lolololol Thank you for posting them. They made me smile! Thank you to Gypsy too for making us smile.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Thank you for prayers for help. I don’t expect help with that but you never know!! I took my old stove apart myself many times but the parts were lighter. I am going to search for answers. I did get the van in the shop. Yay! If Banjo goes looking for it tonight, boy will she be surprised! Lol
These phones can devour our time just clearing them out. I would like to get more apps but I limit as much as I can. As you say, “we gotta have what we gotta have.”

@pearl99 Wow! Such a terrible week with the fires! I am so sorry!! Our hearts and tears are with you.
Very glad the kitties brought smiles.:hugs:
I love the feeling of really scrubbed teeth and gums. Electric toothbrush! Yes!

I am all for supporting schools , etc. via taxes if the taxes go where they are needed. 👍

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I have lived in just about all the options. Lol I love having a house. I started working towards that at a very young age and have switched areas as I had to move but am very grateful for a roof over our heads. It is a lot for us to maintain but , like you, the cats here have a place. Fortunately, we got TNR legalized so this is a better place than it was. Some improvements here!;)

rubysmama rubysmama The kitties did get Christmas. They enjoyed the day and all were here for that. I’m glad we could celebrate together. Whistle missed Rudolph this year but he says he’ll stay awake next year. Rudolph did bring him some catnip though. ( Such a deer friend.lol)
Banjo probably is voting for a front loader. She could open that door herself! She could douse Bonjure in bubbles!
She says the answer to one sock being left out is to wash one sock! Obviously do she can go for another spin cycle. Kitties! Lolololololol She thinks electricity is free. She has seen it being deposited from above.:storm:

More on washer later.

@dustydiamond1 Hilarious! I am showing that to Banjo!:flail::bicolorcat::greenpaw:🐸

M maggiedemi I beg to differ. You can cry and laugh at the same time if they are tears of joy. ;)
No convincing needed on your part. It’s all about what is available and practical. I found a USED very good front loader for a thousand bucks. Nope. It is also too big to fit under my cabinets. There are new ones that can be on order but I need it now. Lol At least, soon!

Cat hair s a fashion statement. Lol

You can have the cat room if you can get the cats to move over a bit. OR if you can slide under them.

Lari Lari It really is about positive experiences. First impressions count! I think it’s great that you are in tune to all that. It will be better for J. Going to a pediatric dentist really helped Sarah. They know all the tricks that help. Please let us know how it goes. Another , very important, first. J sure is growing up with a ton of friends around here! No child could have more who care and follow every step! :redheartpump::heartshape:

N NY cat man We must have had the same “first “ dentist! :jawdrop::salute: Many surgeries later…..and lots of corrections, still don’t have things corrected. A dental school finally started getting it right. You have my sympathies!

tabbytom tabbytom Maybe a pediatric dentist would help you? They are gentle and know very well how to extract with a minimum of fuss. It might be worth it. They do take older young people. You are an older young person! Aren’t we all?

neely neely Thank you do much. The heart is not belated. It feels it just as strongly at any time the news arrives. It left us all in shock and dismay. He is free to fly now. He had his wings hidden but I always knew they were there. My hero. Last colony cat in, first to get his wings. At least Smokey could be there to greet him along with others that never got the chance to join us. I imagine that BJ had lots of stories to tell them. He has a badge of courage to display too. My Silver Star and Purple Heart. He earned them and so much more. His name will echo forever in the hall of feral cats. Thank you! :hugs:

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Dental health is so very important! Many don’t make the connection between that and all over health but it really counts!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Those bells sound so pretty. Great idea! I once had a pair with a lighter shade of denim inset. Patches of ecology signs, trees and various things dotted the pockets. A little later, even a Smiley face!

rubysmama rubysmama Thank you. Just needing some catch up time on chores and a bit more rest. Still trying to help out on a couple of cats elsewhere too. The van is now in the shop, I went searching for a washer and have paid but do not know when it will be delivered. It took some convincing to get one delivered and installed from the city. Choices were slim! I’ll be so happy when I can wash clothes again. Sorry M maggiedemi it is top loading but at le I should be able to wash clothes. That’s the big priority. Washing them by hand is a lot around here! The Bengal boys offered to help but they played more than worked! Lol

Okay, I kissed the wrong frog! Anybody got a fly?

View attachment 406924
Really glad you found a washer and that it's going to be delivered! Quite a double accomplishment in these times. Hope it serves you well for a long time and works well.
Hoping and praying you have sweet BJ back where he belongs. Yes, an immortal and much beloved one!

Welcome to TCS! So happy to hear you are taking care of homeless kitties. I also feed homeless kitties. My numbers are surging ( all areTNRed). I work hard to make sure everyone gets a good meal. You are very blessed to have such a good pet store who can give you a break. I wish I could buy cans at 25 cents but everything is pretty expensive in my area. I put up a thread in The Cat Lounge regarding the Cat Food Shortages that have been going on. These are challenging times. It can be a struggle to feed homeless kitties, but it is also a labor of love. ❤

Thank you for saving lives.:rock::lovecat::lovecat::lovecat:

I know. It's so unfair. People shouldn't have to endure dental pain because of high prices.
Yes, and that's not good, but when you consider the expenses that may be incurred as complications of poor dental health, it's kinda like homeownership -- there are maintenance and repair issues, but all in all, it can be more economical that renting, and it's YOURS (well, as long as you keep up the taxes!)
Maybe a pediatric dentist would help you? They are gentle and know very well how to extract with a minimum of fuss. It might be worth it. They do take older young people. You are an older young person! Aren’t we all?
We grew up poor and because of the high expenses on taking care of teeth, my mom had all her teeth pulled out and she wore dentures all her life till now.

I asked her why she wore dentures when I was much younger and she replied, dental is is expensive and she could not afford it and it's cheaper to extract all her teeth and have no future problems with them and don't have to spend any money going to the dentist. So sad :(

Happiest day of my life was when all my teeth came out, and my dentures went in. I knew it had to happen. I was given a LOT of antibiotics when I was an infant due to almost chronic UTIs. My baby teeth, and then my adult teeth, came in light gray, and the enamel was so thin that you could see the core of the tooth through the enamel. Then, when I started losing baby teeth, I only had 25 adult teeth...we thought. My orthodontist, who was nuts, put braces on me at 15, but did not remove the 4 remaining baby teeth. HE was carried out of his office in a straight jacket the day after my braces came off. Literally. When I was 16, a television fell on my head from an old-fashioned wall mounts, like motels used, and I had head x-rays done. They found an eye tooth way up by my sinuses on the left side. When I was 19, it drifted down and pushed the baby tooth out. Thankfully, it was the right tooth in the right space, and that was pure luck. With only 26 teeth, my wisdom teeth came in beautifully straight, and with a tiny bit of filing, became molars that worked perfectly well for decades. But they were still gray and translucent. I never willingly smiled in public until my teeth came out, and the dentures went in about 13 years ago.

That's what I do, if a sock misses the wash cycle, I put the clean one in the hamper with the dirty one
We think so much alike, it's rather scary. Twins separated at birth? 😲

Tougher than a $2 steak.
I wish I was tough like that! 😭

Yes! They deserve so much. The best of everything. ❤

I feel this way about my cappuccino & cheese. Tried to give it up, but it almost killed me! ☕🧀

Ugghhh. I hated the electric toothbrush. Scrubbed the enamel right off my teeth. Guess my teeth are too thin. :dunno:

Ha! I see the play on words. Deer vs Dear?

I can see the logic in this! Banjo kitty logic. Get it done first, then worry about expense later?

Never experienced that, but it might happen some day! :crossfingers:

Awww man. I wish my brother could have helped you look. He found our brand new LG front loader for under $1,000. It's a water saver & space saver too. 😭

Okay, I kissed the wrong frog! Anybody got a fly?
I know it ruins the joke to have to explain it, but I read this 5 times and still don't get the fly part? :headscratch:

he is teaching for new heights!

I can relate! 😉

Not sure about the frog and fly joke either, but maybe trying to give the frog prince a fly would prove he's not a real frog?

Big BONNIE fan here! I love all cats, but the black and tortoiseshell varieties are my favorites, aesthetically. They are so elegant, stylish, lustrous, and lovely!
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Yeah, unfortunately, I think a lot of it is genetic. One of my exes told me his mom had dentures from her 20's onward. His teeth are a terrible mess due to a very bad dentist drilling what might as well be a trough and pouring the amalgam in. That has resulted in him having terrible digestive issues as well. A kid in my neighborhood when I was small was headed for dentures very soon, too, and my mom used to talk about how terrible it was when moms would give their babies/toddlers apple juice in the bottle instead of formula. Of course babies would lose those teeth, but it may still have set them up for having bad oral health, IDK. My mom had to get dentures in her 50's and she always told me ever after to do whatever it takes to keep my own teeth. She had a lot of problems with dentures. "Natural" is me, and I want to just keep everything I have, period.
Waking up between a feral and a rescued cat, meanwhile, is pure bliss.

Jcatbird Jcatbird will certainly elaborate on any of the Chez Catbird clowder members you may have questions about, however, if you want a quick description of the group that were living with her in 2019, here's a link to a chart I made back then. Sadly, since then, she's lost sweet Smokey, and our brave boy BJ, but the all others are are still there. A few more have arrived at Chez Catbird since 2019, so there may be a few names you might notice are missing.

Putting babies to sleep drinking a bottle of formula does it, too. My aunt put her kids in the crib with the bottle and they had lots of cavities because it pools in the mouth and behind the teeth. Once the baby is asleep, you're supposed to remove the bottle.

Yes. Milk has milk sugar and any kind of sugar is injurious to teeth (as are any food or beverage deposits).

Around here, not many bugs have been able to run the gauntlet and make it inside but some of those who do, get swallowed. And then, they get puked back up. :barf:
