rubysmama rubysmama Mot all the kitties here cared either . Lol I liked it though. That little bird was adamant about something! Lol
This is Dolly.
I don’t care. I only chase shadows and dance.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Heh! Gypsy is making you run! Gypsy, it’s really hard to catch birds, especially if you have a human chasing them with you. Lucky for the birdie!
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 It did say spam. Lol I nearly deleted it but found out that the number attached was a friend of my Dad’s and not in my contacts so it showed up as spam. Glad I figured it out though.
Whistle would probably love spam! Anything ham like is on his love list. He always sounds like he is saying ,” Haaaaaaaammmm!” I think it dates back to when I was trying to lure him in as a baby. Lol
I hope Facebook survives as a platform for you and kitties. There are so many rescue groups and shelters that depend on it! That includes the shelter in my county. I called them today and good is nearly gone! I am sending food to help them get through. Donations plummeted. They had trouble before the big shutdown too. Facebook got spotty it seems. I read that Mark lost enough money to house every homeless person in this country! Ummmm, that seemed a bit extreme but maybe? Supposedly that was a drop to him. IDK but hoping he can rescue the rescues! I know Twitter is very different. I don’t sign up for most of these things but I do go and try to stay familiar. Twitter is about the only place that has the real news in this area. The local television stations rarely cover us here. They stick to the larger towns. I have been thinking about the rescue groups I know of that depend on things like Facebook and Instagram. It’s a terrible loss for them and the kitties. I hope they find a solution.

Well, it's a moot point as to whether I can ever access my fb accounts again. But yes, a lot of people work on facebook. And at facebook. All over the world. As to the $$$, his own personal loss is minuscule (to him, I guess) compared to the platform's loss, which is unbelievable and yes, could probably house every homeless person in the US and maybe beyond. I haven't crunched numbers on that but am just taking a wild guess. Apparently that's off the search engine radar, for whatever reason. Mark paid himself a $1 a year salary in the past; IDK how he does his salary and expenses these days, but I do know that most wealthy people take it more personally, if possible, than average people when it comes to losing money, especially in the markets. I don't expect he was very happy. He and his wife do quite a few philanthropic actions. I always wish we could rope one of these uber-rich into giving lots of their wealth to cats. Actually some have -- Maddie's Fund was started by a husband and wife software empire, PeopleSoft. And the Walmart owners have also made the Walmart Foundation, which has funded over $11 million to animals globally. That's chump change to facebook, but it is a lot better than nothing for the animals in need, and the bottom line is that none of these people HAVE to care or put their money where their mouth is, at all. And so many of them fund human-specific charities -- not saying that's wrong, but definitely saying the animals are SO deserving and SO in need.
Yes, when news happens, it often doesn't get publicized in a timely manner, especially local disasters and updates on crimes and such. I look at twitter for a lot of that, and also YouTube. You have to know where to look to find stuff these days. There's so much happening every second and of course the media always puts certain things first.
*Almost forgot! Dolly, you are SO adorable!* SNORGLES :hearthrob::bigeyes::hearthrob::loveeyes:

They are Purrfect kitties for someone who wants love and can give love. Hoping, hoping, hoping!!!!!
How are things there? Good I hope!
I am hanging in there. I am off my diet until January. I was burned out. I lost over 35 pounds though, so I have 25 more to go. I will be raring to give a second go at it after the holidays.

I am a bit nervous about the cats and the winter months. New faces are coming around and I am worried that I might not be able to swing it in the winter months. I am doing the best I can though.

Thanks for sharing all the pics of the kitties. Cat's reactions to bird videos are usually very funny. I hope all is well at Chez Cat Bird and that your neighbors got there power back. As I said yesterday, they are lucky to have you as a neighbor. 🙂

Oh my so many things! Kittens (including looking like a dilute Tortie, Ziggy is a dilute Tortie), a nice cop, birds, hunting, birdie singing, Facebook, power...been catching up.
I hope to be getting on more often again. Nice to start getting caught up, best wishes to everyone! TCS is a home.

Gracie's been just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and kidney disease, so is on methimazole and Epakitin. And renal diet. She's almost back to her old self. Other kitties are juuussst fine.
Back tomorrow.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 If you total up their loss and the loss of all those who depend on it, it is huge! I wish that all people could help each other and all creatures. That would be the ideal world. I am deeply grateful to all who care and make an effort. Large or small.
:vibes::redheartpump:
Funny you should mention Maddie’s Fund! I was on their site last night looking up some info. Cat stuff. It does pay to look around!!
Dolly thanks you for the snorggles and sends some back.:purr:

pearl99 pearl99 I had noticed you missing too. My eyes may be old but they do notice. Dear Gracie, I am so sorry you felt bad. I am so very glad to hear you are improving!! Hugs to your hooman too because I know it’s always stressful to have a kitty unwell. I hate to bug busy folks but.... please do keep us updated. I worry when people aren’t here. I have noticed the absence of others too. Hopefully they will pop in soon.
You did a lot of cat ching up! Lol You are so right, TCS is a home!

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Over 35?!?!? Awesome! I know you had a goal for yourself and:clap2::goldstar:I think you should reward yourself. Giant pat on the back and hugs from me!
New faces? I am hearing that from all corners. You can only do so much as one person. Sadly, we cannot always do everything. I know you are doing all you can so please remember to be kind to yourself.
I did laugh when the kitties were watching that bird video. Precious really enjoyed it.
You are so sweet. I try to be a good neighbor when I can. I always hope that works both ways. Sometimes it does!

Lari Lari I have a lot of photos with Google. I try to keep them in many places. It is hard to know these days where to put them so backup is always good.

tabbytom tabbytom Another precious image and for a precious kitty. Get well Gracie!

Maria Bayote Maria Bayote Our prayers join together. :redheartpump::redheartpump: Speedy recovery for Gracie.
I hope today was a good day for you. :hugs: Prayers go there as well.

Our BJ is at it again. I guess he has heard me say, Never give up! Lol He never does! Especially when it comes to loving ladies. Or.... the one hold out, Lady.

I think that if I can slip up next to Lady and snuggle her....

She will feel how warm and loving I am and give me a kiss!

No kiss yet. Is it working?

So did everyone say "awwwww" when they saw this pic? :catlove:

Sorry about Gracie's diagnosis, but very happy to read that she's almost back to her old self. :hearthrob:

Last night was interesting...AJ actually came up and "bumped noses" with the end of my finger! First time in two years that I've been that close to him!
Excellent news! :petcat:

Well, I can only speak for myself, Jcatbird Jcatbird -- and you KNOW I "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"ed!
Yes, keeping photos in a lot of places is good insurance. I have four places. With the vagaries of IT, one never knows, do one?
BJ! How can any lady resist your soft, warm, furry, purry advances?
That last pic is gorgeous! A card or a poster -- or both?
Glad to hear that Gracie is almost back to her old self! And to hear the "AJ progress report"!
This week's PAWverb is especially good, tabbytom tabbytom ! Fankgew fur sharing!
Maddie's Fund was started as a memorial tribute to the couple's dog, Maddie, who is their icon. It's helped a lot of animals over the years! Not every internet mogul is selfish. And not every one of them is completely human-focused when it comes to caring about others.

Thanks all for all the wellwishes for Gracie :redheartpump:. She says it's helping! She was batting around a fuzzy ball toy this morning and she also got the zoomies! She's gained a half pound back so she's for sure on the mend.

I could look at snuggling cat pictures all day..."awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..."

Love the Pawverb!
Good for AJ!
I was glad to hear about the animal Funds also.

Thank you. I am going to be careful not to put that weight back on while I am on hiatus. I still got a ways to go.

I am worried that some of the new faces may be newbies to the block. I am hoping that someone isn't dumping cats on my block knowing that there are already plenty of cats on my block. 🙄 I can't stand when people dump cats. Dumped cats get chased away often enough and don't fare out that well. If these people think they are helping the cats, they better think again. There have been a few bad fights on my block because new cats are showing up out of no where. I give them some food, but I really can't afford to fed any more. It is a struggle. I do what I can. Say hello to everyone at Chez Catbird. I love those pic/stories, it puts a smile on my face.❤

Is there anyone here who has had a similar problem? How are you handled it? I need advise. Thank you.🙂

I had a cat who developed Hypothyroidism and her Kidneys were not working properly as well. She was on meds for the rest of her life and passed away at nearly 20 years of age. She lived a long full life. I wish the best for Gracie. It is a good to hear that she is playing and has had a case of the zoom(ies). Cats are truly amazing. 🙂

rubysmama rubysmama I said Awww as I took that pic. Lol BJ brings a lot of that reaction from me. Flowers too. Of course, all the kitties keep me in Awwwwwwwwwwwwwe. :cloud9:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Glad you got an awww moment too. I just love seeing love.
I laugh when Lady stands her ground. I don’t know how she can resist but I have only ever seen her in love with one fella. A monogamous cat. Blue and Goldie are like that too. That is supposed to be impossible with cats but obviously, we are still learning.
Maddies’ fund was a wonderful idea. There are a couple of specialty supply stores here for pets. I spoke to the owner because there is a banner there that is all about a car. She told me she started the stores because of having to search for specialty items for her sick cat when she was caring for her. These stores are her way of making sure that needed items are available locally. Only the high quality foods and other items are in there. Love can inspire greatness. We see it on TCS all the time.

pearl99 pearl99 Hearing about Gracie playing and zooming is another Awwwww moment. Thank you for that. Go Gracie!!!!!!

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose As you know, most of the cats here were pure feral but there have been dumped cats too. I know how frustrating snd infuriating that can be. I know Prints was dumped and easy back, Prime Snuggles was dumped. They are not feral. A few may have been dumped long enough to revert to semi feral. Maybe Surely. I know Marcus is not feral. I suspect I know where he originated and I contacted the humans but they would not take him. Their house burned down and now live where they can’t have pets so……
I have reunited a few lost cats with families too. It happens. The problem is that when word gets around that you feed cats outside, people think you will accept more. I had to be very firm around here and spread the word that I DO NOT take cats!! The feral cat program in the city designated a piece of land as a sanctuary. We all had many discussions about preventing dumping. There was funding for surveillance cameras and a sign was posted to that effect. Even if you can’t have cameras, you can buy stickers for your home that say you do. Or have a security system. Also, signs were put that state the laws. Dumping is a crime!!It let people know that we’re being watched and would be prelisecited. Lastly, we did not want cats being put in worse places so information about no kill and phone numbers for the local humane society and shelters were posted as places to get help. People could surrender their cats without penalty. The location of the site is kept hush, hush. I am sure people find it but so far it has not been overwhelmed. There are cats that turn up but it may be that some just go in search of safety and pick up the scent of others.
I think giving info of safe places to take pets may have been most helpful of all that was done. Keeping the location quiet too. lol I keep photos of all neighborhood pets that I see along with their home location. That has kept me, at least twice, from having cats dumped and being able to give the people info on where to get help for the animals. I am always willing to give info but firm with the people about responsibilities. I hope something here will help. Last thought is to go back to my very first post. Calling companies that I am loyal to and asking for help for the colony. They were pretty generous with coupons!
