After going down memory lane, reminiscing about BJ coming inside, I started reading this thread from the beginning. Mostly looking at pics, as way too much text to re-read, I mean 606 pages, and counting. LOL. But came across this precious pic of Smokey helping her mom comfort a newbie rescued kitten, Jet. Dear sweet Smokey, I know your Mom misses you, and appreciated all you did to help newbies to Chez Catbird feel safe and, but your work on earth is done, darling angel. :hearthrob::angel::hearthrob:

Also came across this pic of a newly rescued 5 month old Whistle. Funny, that as an adult cat, Whistle is afraid of big ears, when this is how his mom described him: 'Sort of! Big ears, big beautiful eyes and a meow that sounds more like a whistle.": :redheartpump:

Yes, sweet Smokey, forever Loved and forever the matriarch of Chez Catbird! And little Whistle -- ALL ears!

I believe that that is a Red Admiral butterfly. I posted this reply before, but for reasons unknown it didn't appear, so try, try again.
That was my guess, too, N NY cat man ! I was a butterfly and moth FREAK as a kid and it's nice to think I remember some of what I learned then.

Twice we had them in our garden last year, and I posted at least one picture. I had to look them up myself as I had never seen one before. There have been none around this year, however.

I've noticed that one can see beings out of their habitats in these times, particularly insects and birds, but it could be just about anyone. Climate change, habitat loss/destruction, people travelling with stowaways, wildlife traffickers, escapees from zoos and other venues -- you name it.

Jcatbird Jcatbird : Hope you're resting and recovering with the attention and affection of the entire clowder.

Until you're up to posting again, here another stroll down memory lane.

It's really neat seeing and reading about the kitties we now know so well. Like Banjo. :bicolorcat:

This is from page 5:

Banjo posting a reply! She is taming nicely! I just wish she would stay off the phone. Guess she is roaming. Lol She hit the photo button!

Also from page 5. (I didn't realize Thrasher had been a mom that recently)

Brown Thrashers kittens are growing and doing very well at the foster home.

Google should be EVERYONE's friend, tabbytom tabbytom -- I'm always referring people to it! bing can be useful too. USE 'EM!
Feral and rescued cats may opt out, and since microsoft is taking a big dump on me (and others) and not letting me download my photos from my phone to my PC, I'll just have to rely on the archives:

I'd slap Microsoft into next year if I could!

Yea, google take out quite a bit of pain when searching for something. I use it all the time.

How about transferring your photos from your phone using a flash drive and then to your PC.

Or, switch over to Mac, Send photos and files wirelessly from phone  Only if all your devices are all Apple 🍎

That's great you guys. We have quite a few white ones and an occasional Monarch. Before they paved the alleys (the streets are rough as heck but they pave the alleys, go figure.) There would be water puddles where butterflies congregated and birdies bathed.

From what I've read on the subject, Red Admirals are people-friendly, although you would think that they had better sense than that, at least with far too many people, that is.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm holding out for Microsoft actually fixing the problem.

Well...they're butterflies. They're also attracted to stale beer and poop. That could explain it.

tabbytom tabbytom , if memory serves, Dr. Tiny Cat has his genesis WAY back on the original ICanHasCheezburger site. I remember the original site with great longing. It seemed much more cozy than the new one, which is fine for what it is. I still go there, but LOLspeek is becoming a dying art now, and the memes are just not quite as clever..and harder to make.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 ICHC FOREVER!!! I LOVED the original. You may have seen some of the many memes I share from time to time. Yeah, it was truly a joy to go on there and indulge in teh silliness! I still go on every day, but you're so right -- it's just not the same. tabbytom tabbytom Even in its present incarnation, you owe it to yourself to go.

Jcatbird Jcatbird : thinking of you, and hoping you're doing well with your recovery. :redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump:
:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

While we wait for your return, I thought I'd post a Ruby pic. My intent was to get a good one of her, and my cute little door stop. Well intentions don't always go as planned.
Attempt 1: great shot of the doorstop cat, pretty good shot of Ruby, except for her blurred, moving tail. :catman:
IMG_4069.jpg

Attempt 2 not so great, though at least Ruby's tail isn't quite so blurred. :winkcat:
IMG_4070.jpg

Attempt 3: Ruby turned out fairly well, but I think the doorstop cat must have ducked, as it's mostly hidden.
IMG_4071.jpg

Attempt 4: quickly moving, so blurred Ruby. Maybe I should have been taking video instead. ;)
IMG_4072.jpg

Attempt 5: Think this is about as good as it's gonna get, as after this shot, Ruby left the room. :winkcat:
IMG_4073.jpg

Can I just say, after my attempt to somewhat replicate one of Jcatbird Jcatbird 's entertaining nightly posts, I'm more in awe of her than ever. How she gets the clowder to participate in the photo shoots is a mystery to me. And then she interprets their expressions with purr-fect captions. And and all that happens from an i-phone. Simply amazing!

I love all of Ruby's pix here with her "friend" (who is, as you say, very cute!) And yes, I think we're all amazed at the Chez Catbird clowder's wonderful pix -- such expressive faces and actions!!!
