Spent most of yesterday morning in the ER with husband. Second kidney stone in 3 months!! When he went for the CT scan, it was in his bladder. It must have passed while we were at the hospital because once we got home and the morphine wore off, he was fine.

I am worried about my 19-year-old Simon. He has been sleeping or just lying in the chair in my art studio for the last couple of days. I have only seen him up twice. He responds when I pet him. Today, he seems a bit dehydrated. I am going to syringe feed him some water and then have my husband carry him downstairs for me. It looks like a trip to the vet is in order. I just feel sick about it.

Mowed for the first time in about six weeks. While most of the grass is dead from the drought, there were still patches here and there and I couldn’t stand the shaggy mess any more. Between picking up an abundant amount of sticks and twigs plus mowing, it was an hour and twenty minutes. Sweaty and tired I am enjoying my second cup of coffee with Lola in my lap.

We have the opposite problem. Lots of rain in my area. Grass is growing fast but at least it's lush and green.

We went from drout to lush. I didn't think our grass was very high but I was trying to talk to my 99 year old grandfather on the phone this weekend and DH just kept coming by on the mower. He had to go over everything several times. All that seeding and watering finally paid off I guess!

I wish we could send all the extra rain water over to the west coast. We have had a surplus this summer.
Yeah, you feel sort of bad complaining about drought when the east coast has such terrible flooding but parts of the country really really need it. We have a fire in northern Minnesota that is taking homes and a big chunk of the forrest and farmers who lost a whole seasons crops.

My husband went to work late so he could take Simon to the vet since I would have to handle Simon and Hobbit if I took him. (My daughter-in-law would normally have taken Hobbit, but she was at an appointment.) It seems Simon has a kidney infection. She ran some additional blood tests, but not all of them are back. When they are, we will know more. He was rather dehydrated, even after I had syringe fed him about 1/4 c of water, so she gave him an IV. The ultrasound did not show any blockage, thank goodness. She expressed some concern about his reduced weight and age, reminding my husband that he is in his 90s in human years. He is taking Ciprofloxacin for the infection.

Simon staying in the art studio makes sense now. There are two Litter-Robots in there, so with him feeling like he has to pee all the time he has both of them there. He obviously has not been drinking enough, though.

My poor husband normally does not take the cats to the vet, so he was not ready for the urine test!

Boone and Gracie tried tuna for the first time. Well, it was tuna mixed with chicken. New flavor that I got with the last Chewy order. They ate it all in no time so it was a winner. I think in a few days, straight tuna will be on the menu so we'll see how they like it without the chicken.

I have been buying Nutro brand wet food and they have a chicken and shrimp combo that Willow Is crazy about.
