If you’re like me and generally prefer reading series in order, in this case you might not mind. Book #13 is actually the third of three prequels but could be read as a stand-alone.
I do like to read books in order, but I also like to read the next book, when I know there's a sequel. And since I am unlikely to buy the entire series, it's probably best not to read any of them. Thanks for recommending it though.

I'm in one of those weird spells where I'm reading nothing, and not sure what I want to read. Any suggestions, folks?
How about the Meg Langslow by Donna Andrews? Very fun. Or for a mystery/crime series, the Jane Whitefield books by Thomas Perry. She’s a Native American woman who helps people go underground to escape from dangerous situations.

My library doesn't have those either. :ohwell:

For some reason the link is opening to just the main page. And Google found lots of "Washington Post must read" links. :sigh:

~scampers off to add yet another series to The List (evergrowing list).~"

I finished "The Wicked Day," an'd have started "The Prince and the PIlgrim," the last book written in Mary Stewart's Arthur saga. It actually takes place in the 6th year of Arthur's reign, so before "The Wicked Day," and probably during "The Hollow Hills." But I hadn't read this one before, so I'm really enjoying it!

That's what I like to do. However, I've been reading the Kate Redman mysteries by Celina Grace, a British detective series, as individual books have been offered for free. I've read most, but not all, of the books in the series. Currently I'm about halfway through #11, Fury, and have #12, Scimitar, to follow that up.

Another British mystery series I've been reading the same way is Inspector Skelgill Investigates
They're entertaining, but I don't feel the need to read them in any particular order, or to read all of them. I downloaded the ones that are free at a given time.

I found a book to read. :)

Was looking for something seasonal, but not a Hallmark-y romance one, LOL, and came across this one on Hoopla.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

Here's part of the blurb from Goodreads

Everyone's invited...everyone's a suspect...

For fans of Ruth Ware and Tana French, a shivery, atmospheric, page-turning novel of psychological suspense in the tradition of Agatha Christie, in which a group of old college friends are snowed in at a hunting lodge . . . and murder and mayhem ensue.

They are NOT cozy! They can be grim, but she’s a strong and admirable woman, and the stories are good.
That is NOT a problem. I love cozies, they're light and fun, but I read across almost all genres. I read Laurell K. Hamilton, for goodness sake, which means I'm fairly bomb-proo

I'll finish "The Prince and the Pilgrim" when I go to bed. Not sure what I'm starting next. I MAY go back and read all of the Marion Zimmer Bradley "Avalon" books again. Not sure yet.
