Things went left here so fast. On the news last night, they said, "The next 24 hours are going to be crazy."

Went to Walmart, couldn't even get anything. People are emptying shelves and filling up carts. The parking lot was almost completely full. My local grocery store is low on inventory. Toilet paper, bread, handsanitizer, everything is gone.

People are stealing handsanitizer and gloves from a hospital in Toronto too. This is ridiculous.

WHAT!!! People!!! What if you are the person who ends up sick in that hospital, and the staff cannot treat you because they do not have any protective gear and it is required to take care of you??? Some days I'm devastated to be part of the human race... I get that everyone is scared, but the hospitals need their supplies!

My church has canceled all services and meetings until March 29. There is a confirmed case of the virus in the next county, so it's coming.

Everyone is so stocked up with groceries that no one is going to need to go for a couple of weeks. During that time, the stores can restock, and then it's back to normal.

I saw an article about a Seattle chef who has to close 12 of his 13 stores; 800 employees laid off.
He managed to pay everyone for the time they put in, but business fell off so dramatically that the pot is now empty.
He's hoping to re-open in 2-3 months, but unemployment will only cover for 8 weeks. Also, unemployment does not cover full wages, if I recall correctly. So, those 800 employees are going to have a very hard time of it for the next few months.
The ripple effects are going to go on for a long time.

There's been one confirmed case where I live so far, but multiple people have come to the hospital thinking they have it. This is not a good time to be a housekeeper in the emergency department that's for sure. Cleaning a potential Covid-19 room is horrible. I have to take apart the bed, scrub out all the drawers and cupboards inside and out. I'm trapped in the room for like an hour. I really need a new job lol

Also, my best friend's mom went to five different stores and all were out of toilet paper. People are hoarding the stuff. It's ridiculous.

There's been one case in the county I'll be headed home to in the next couple of days. I would still rather head back and have access to affordable health care then be stuck in NC without health insurance and hesitate to get treatment because of it.

Ohio is up to 8 confirmed cases at opposite corners of the state. Four at the Cleveland Clinic and 4 at the University of Cincinnati. I take that to mean that there are probably people who have been infected throughout the state.

Apologize in advance if this is not appropriate....feel free to delete, if needed, I can't find the forum rules anywhere... but I thought this was hilarious and hope others can get a giggle out of it, too!

Oh, honey, it is SO appropriate! I had posted that on FB the other day. There was a meme going around FB about washing your hands like you had just shaken hands with Trump. I saw this one and posted it right away. It is so much more appropriate.

But yeah, who would wash their hands with their tongue? I might try! :flail::flail::flail: BTW, I am a very happily married woman. I've been married for almost 50 years. And yet, I'm not blind. And married does not mean dead. The man is just gorgeous.

this world has officially lost it's ever loving mind. still at work-for now. This weekend bringing home all my stuff I usually leaveat work

if you can't find some items-try amazon or chewy. my neighbor is going to be getting a surprise 30 lb bag of food for Nina. I ordered more jugs of cat litter and treats. I also have 2 cases of canned goods coming for lilah. Bee lives on treats and her prescription food which I did buy a huge bag in feb.

I bought ramen noodles for the heck of it=Jon got us a rice cooker..he's turning into quite the prepper. I found out I can't use hand sanitizer=I just put it on my hands and instantly stung the S* out of them.

I still have flour, salt, oj, yeast, pasta and baby wipes-I decided we will bake bread if the S hits the fan. I imagine next week they will probably impose martial law or some such crap. I got a text message from one of the guys in the town who got elected for school board he tells me a child tested + for covid and schools are closed until tue-the child doesn't attend our schools but his parents work in them...I didn't sleep last night=reading medical recordings etc of people in the front line=can't tell what is truth or blown up.I will be getting sleep tonight..

will take some pictures of the stores=but wed night=it wasn't too crazy and there was plenty of TP. (kicking myself for not getting tissues-allergies are roaring their UGLY itchy head)

Anyways=hang in there everyone!

The Governor's panel of doctors says that there are probably 100,000 undiagnosed cases in Ohio.

I was just told that all schools in SD have cancelled classes for next week. I haven't confirmed that with an official source but a co-worker heard it from his kid so it's probably true. Idk what parents who still have to work are gonna do with their younger kids.

K-12 schools officially closed here until the end of the month. Our IT guy just brought me a laptop to borrow in case we don't make it in on Monday; if we do I'll bring in my own computer to set up virtually.

Honestly, my head is swimming. I've heard so much doom and gloom and people who say it's all going to be fine I don't know what to believe.

Since the virus was finally declared a pandemic last night, it's a different world. And now to get FEMA funds its declared a worldwide emergency. Took long enough! Yesterday I ran out of hand sanitizer and went to the stores to buy more. Why is toilet paper missing from the shelves? Do people think they are safe from the virus if they have it? Is the need for TP higher due to nerves?

Because if we get confined to quarters for the rest of the month, there are certain things you don't want to run out of. . .

I really am wondering what's going to happen with the little kids whose parents still have to work. Grandma daycares in every neighborhood? That doesn't seem safe.

The university in my state is shut down likely until June. Other closings are happening al the time! I feel concern about the elderly most of all, especially those like my father who is doing dialysis 3X week. My immune system is pretty strong, and being middle age I will likely survive if I get sick, so the best thing I can do is be available to help...(I still find it puzzling about the toilet paper! The TP factories are highly automated, few personnel. Luckily I have some!) We can get through this, even if it takes a year: Those of us who can keep a strong immune system now have a clearer reason to do that, and it can help everyone when we do. Cheers to us all who do, and I will be happy to share tips on that.
