I was going to rest today but I feel like that's a huge time waster so:

1. Pick up trash in yard that wind blew around. (Need to train the cats to bring the trash and the raccoons to bring the sticks up here.) haha
2. Clean the basement area and get rid of more stuff (cat proof for if and when the time comes)
3. Pay my bills

Then maybe I'll rest.

So glad children and spouses were driving or flying home yesterday. Traffic will be even more congested today, and weather worse.
Yesterday the guest bed was stripped, sheets washed, dried, folded, put away. Need to finish up today by putting pillows etc away.

Last night in the dark I moved my car to the parking area at the bottom of the driveway, trudged back up by flashlight. Supposed to rain today, then snow / sleet tomorrow.

Let's see . . . so far this morning I of course fed the cats and started my coffee. Then dashed outdoors to open the taps on the three rain barrels behind my tool shed, which I had completely forgotten about. Middle one is draining, other two are not. Not good. Need to disconnect gutter downspout feed into the barrels too. Built the morning fire in the wood burning stove.

Today will bring laundry to be washed, cookies to bake . . . hey, Winchester Winchester question for you. I always make lebkuchen. But I don't have any candied citron left over from fruitcake baking. And it would be 10 days before I get any more. So what if I instead use candied orange peel / lemon peel, of which I have ample, and spice it up with candied ginger. Think that would be good? Springerle is the other bake-in-advance cookie.

-Eat leftovers (our Thanksgiving was yesterday due to my daughter working.)
-Supervise cat introductions- I have a new 12 year old kitty, Gracie, and am doing the introduction to my other 2! They are curious but still wary of each other. I can have Gracie out with the others for a couple of hours at a time now :yess:.
-Play with my ukulele group.

Cleaning and grocery delivery day at my mom’s. Still snowing but I drove behind the snowplow almost all the way to her house. It was a little scary though because her 60 foot long drive hadn’t been shoveled so my choice was either park on the street and make a few trips hauling everything in or risk getting stuck in the 8+ inches of snow. I took the risk and fortunately didn’t get stuck either pulling in or out.
Afterwards ran a picked up a few things at Target.

Wow good for you!

25 percent water change in the fish tank

Not sure if this qualifies for spa day, lol but a Hygiene trim for the furball :)

Put the towels, that caught the snowblower snowmelt in the garage, on the back deck to drip dry just a bit (it worked, even if I did have a couple little icicles that wouldn't give up. Frozen towels feel really weird lol)

Well Furballsmom Furballsmom Gracie being 12 years old sleeps a lot, so Waffles and Moo have been able to creep up on her a lot to get sniffs and observe, and she's pretty nonreactive to them so it's good so far. Gracie just wants a soft place to sleep and a lap. She's very sweet :catlove:

Good luck tomorrow, Mia6 Mia6 . Be careful on that drive.

Thus far, we have about 2-1/2 inches of snow. The roads are good; Rick got me into work with no trouble. I have no car; Clarence is in the shop without power steering and the Tucson is in the shop for new tires. They'll call me when the tires are on and I'll walk over and pick the Tucson up (or my co-worker will run me over if it's still snowing). We didn't get to visit Rick's mom last night. We took the Tucson into the garage and stopped at Wendy's for a burger. Halfway through our meal, the rain changed over to sleet, so we came home. Rick called her and left a message. We'll get up tomorrow night. She's out of books on her Kindle and needs me to download more for her. We're not driving up there in sleet and freezing rain to put books on her Kindle.
  • Breakfast for the girls and got ready for work.
  • At some point, will pick up the Tucson from the garage.
  • Should work on a grocery list and grab a few groceries tonight; there's nothing that I really need though.

She's quite adorable! Since I'm a senior, I decided to adopt senior cats from now on :).
Good luck on your Cleveland Clinic trip! I mostly grew up in a suburb of Akron.

Oh, wow! I guess we were neighbors, kind of, ha!! Thanks for the luck on my trip.

Thanks, Pam I will be. I'll have a Lyft driver this time so I should be more comfortable. I had one last time and the driver was drop-dead gorgeous and was nice as he could be. He was a talker but all good stuff.

  • Boxes
  • Lots of hot tea
  • Getting clothes ready for trip, washing parka as it has turned cold with a bit of snow.

Mia6 Mia6 How did you do yesterday?
Years ago, we were in Chicago with Clarence. Rick had meetings pretty much all day, so he needed the car and I needed to get to my GF's house in Evanston. Rick hired a driver to get me from our hotel to her house. This guy was one of the most interesting men I had had to talk to in a long time. He was Muslim and so we had a lot to chat about; he was married and had two children. We had to go clear across the city, so we had plenty of time. He got me to my GF's house, I tipped him, but then I asked if I could give him a hug. And he put his arms out. He was fascinating and very friendly. I enjoyed my ride. (I'm a hugger; it's what I do. I just love hugging people. Fortunately people seem willing to hug me back.)
  • Breakfast for the girls, walked 4 miles (it's about time!) and got ready for work. We had to get up at 4:45 because Rick had to go into work to sign people into the union. And because we were up so early, I had plenty of time to get a walk in.
  • I think we're going to visit with Rick's mother tonight. We didn't make it on Sunday due to the weather.
  • If we get back in time, I'm going to work on decorating in the shed.
We're having problems with the cable in the shed. For some reason, we cannot get OnDemand. I'd like to binge-watch Evil as I've only seen about 15 minutes of the first episode. Rick called the cable company; the woman said it wasn't switched on for some reason. She tried to turn it on and then we lost sound. He called back, we got the sound back, but still no OnDemand. The cable guy is coming out on Wednesday morning to get things straightened out. He thinks it might be a bad converter box. They said they'd pro-rate the cable bill to compensate us.

So far today I accomplished the usual start-the-day to-do. Namely I fed the cats, made my coffee, made breakfast for Himself, etc.

Then I made the dough for springerle, rolled them out etc, and put them in the guest bathroom (it is cool in there, now that guests are gone) (with door closed to keep feline investigators away) to set the designs. Will bake tomorrow.

Today I need to frost the sort-of lebkuchen (sort of, because recipe calls for candied citron and I was all out. Upped the candied orange peel and added candied ginger instead) then individually wrap with waxed paper.

Will tippy toe out after lunch and throw snow melter on the still snow covered curve of the driveway. Leave it to do its magic and then am hopeful I can get to the bottom of the driveway, retrieve my car, ditto the garbage can, look for mail.

Bring a couple of buckets of firewood up from basement to top up the wood rack next to the stove.

Anything else . . . I'm sure there will be.

Took care of morning "furbaby duties" (food, hugs and snuggles, clean box).
Drove the 20 miles to work (CPA's office) in traffic and made it in one piece (that's usually an accomplishment in itself LOL).
Try to get on exercise bike tonight. Wish I didn't have to close the kitties out of the bedroom when I'm on it, but they might catch their paws in the wheel.

I see you've all been busy

  • Boxes
  • Lots of tea, 2 cups of British breakfast, now I'm on Lemon Zinger, sooo good!!
  • Going to recover from the trip. It was the ride from hell, there and back. I had to wait over an hour for him to arrive for the ride back, them he got a phone call, (one of more than 10 because I stopped counting at 10). He pulled over on 77 south and asked if I minded if we went back to CC to pick someone else up. I said yes I do mind. I couldn't believe he had pulled over in lunch time traffic on the freeway! His native language was French and it was difficult to understand him. You're not to wait more than 30 mins for a ride home. He spoke French in all the phone calls and I picked up on a few curse words, ha!! On the way there we were going the wrong way and I had to tell him how to get to PC. It felt so good to walk in the door to my house. Poor Callie was crying when she saw me! I guess I'll have to find someone to babysit next time I'm gone that long. Last time I went to PC was a few days after the Vincie girl crossed over and I don't think she knew she wasn't coming back.😥 Ok, rant is over, ha!!
