Have you ever seen a cat that mean, where he would throw himself at a neighbor's screens? Is it the hormones?

It was really good. I insisted on making my own plate. I put the mashed potatoes, chicken, peas, and one deviled egg. Then I poured melted butter over the top. My dad said he was jealous of my plate. My mom fixed his and then dumped soupy chicken broth over the top of it. He wanted it my way.

Thank you! I forgot today is my birthday. My brother reminded me this morning.
Well, I wouldn't call any cat "mean" but I would guess it might be a testosterone overload...:angrycat:

When people get their staples out are they allowed to eat lunch? My appointment is 1:30pm. The hospital won't return my phone calls because of my Mom's behavior. I'm so scared. I don't even know if I'm going to get any pain killers before they yank the staples out. I know for sure I won't survive the shock of the pain if they don't give me pain killers.

If you think that the process might make you nauseous, then I would avoid eating until after they are done.
Is it painful? Will they give me pain killers? I can't wait for this nightmare to be over. I don't know how much more I can take.

but it should not rise to the level of requiring painkillers.
I'm at the end of my rope here though. I can't take anymore pain. There has to be some end to this somewhere. I'm having a really bad day. The shot wore off that they gave me and the lidocaine patches don't seem to be working anymore. They didn't give me any pain pills. My appointment is 1:30pm tomorrow.

Removing the staples won't hurt more than getting an injection in your arm. While you are there, though, ask for painkillers. They can give you hydrocodone or tramadol or something else. I've taken both of those, and they do help pain enormously, and I didn't become addicted to them. Percocet is another one that is more effective, but it is possible to become addicted to it if you take it for a long time. Stay away from oxycontin, which is quickly addictive and the source of today's opioid epidemic.

If there is any discomfort they would give you a local or topical anesthetic, and someone will most likely ask when you get there how you are feeling and if there is any pain. Just having the staples removed will feel much better.

Just wishing you the very best for tomorrow and knowing you're going to feel a lot better on the other side of your appointment!

There's a lot I don't understand about your situation. It's difficult to believe that they discharged you from the hospital after serious surgery without a prescription for pain meds.

Usually, when you first go into a doctor's office after this kind of surgery, they will ask you the level of your pain, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst pain you've ever felt. You need to be honest with your answer, and don't let your mother tell them what it is. She doesn't know.

You will also need a prescription for any of the meds I mentioned. If for some reason you don't have or get a prescription, take naproxen (Aleve) instead of Tylenol. Naproxen is much more effective than Tylenol.

The worst thing about the staples I had was the pinching of the skin as the wound healed. Getting them out was not painful (to me) and was a big relief. Took less than 10 minutes, closer to 5.

It's more effective, yes. But as with any NSAID it can cause kidney issues. Tylenol is much, much safer.

And Happy Birthday.
