I'm reading Harvest Home and enjoying it again. This guy could write. It's a shame he passed away in his 50s. I have a new psychological thriller on my tablet, The Dream House by Jess Ryder and I also have The Other, Thomas Tryon's other bestseller, coming from another library. It was made into a movie.
Harvest Home was made into a 4 hour mini-series and was filmed about 25 miles from where I live.

I'm almost done with the reread of Harvest Home I'm thinking of rereading In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware, which will be the third reread but it's such a good book. It's about a hen party gone wrong. The hen takes place in a remote area and as you can guess by the title, scary stuff takes place.

I loved her The Woman in Cabin 10. Would you say In a Dark, Dark Wood is better?

So, these thrillers you guys like, are they scary? :eek2: Like would I need to leave a nightlight on when I go to bed? Or are they just "who dunnit" mysteries? :headscratch:

For reference, I read and enjoyed "The Girl on the Train".

The Woman in Cabin 10 isn't the best choice if you are claustrophobic. It's more who dunnit than scary though

I doubt it. The genre I read is considered psychological thrillers. Some good authors are: Gillian Flynn-Start with Sharp Objects

Mary Kubica-Start with Pretty Baby

If you liked Girl on a Train. You'll like these. Jess Ryder is also good. She is British and Flynn and Kubica are American. B.A. Paris is also very good. She is British.

Yeah, I am claustrophobic, so I better skip this one. :running:

I just put that one on hold.

Mary Kubica-Start with Pretty Baby
And put this on my "to read" list, as it's available, but I'm not ready for it. ;)

Jess Ryder is also good
My library doesn't have any e-book by her.

B.A. Paris is also very good.
There's 3 e-books by him/her, so I marked them as "wish list" to read eventually.

I haven't been reading much lately, so still working my way through From a Good Home by Trudi Johnson

That sounds good.
It's just ok. Maybe that's why it's taking me so long to finish it. :sigh:

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris is a really great read. You'll enjoy it.
Just put it on hold. # 20 on 5 copies.

Speaking of suspense novels, one of my recent favorites is The Rumour by Lesley Kara. The Rumour by Lesley Kara

That made me:noway: several times!
My library doesn't have that one as e-book. :(

*sneaks in* Oooooh, reading thread. I tend to like stories where the protagonists get drug through heck backwards, but get the happy ending they earned. In fiction, at least, the good guys can win and live happily ever after.

I adore world building, characterization with depth, and good pacing. I also...*looks around nervously, drops voice to a whisper*...like fan fiction. Now, most of it is horrible, but some of it....oh, some of it is amazing. I love it for how it gives different takes on familiar characters, or can dig into a missed opportunity or what if in a story. Also, my reading speed is....pretty fast, so I devour published stuff too fast.

I have a taste for fantasy and YA fiction, and I go through phases where I adore or loathe romance in fiction. Sometimes you just want a good old fashioned story WITHOUT the drama of will-they-or-won't they, you know? You want romance, you'll find it most everywhere, and there's even a whole genre devoted to it. You're burned out on romantic sub-plots and want a nice adventure minus the romance? ...good luck with that, it might be out there, but you're going to have to really search for it.

Also...ah...I maaaaaaaay be a librarian? :wave3:

I read a lot of adventures minus the romance. Psychological thrillers. If you want some titles, let me know.

So what are you reading now? :hellocomputer:

I just finished the Tattooist of Auschwitz - very good. I read Harlan Coben's new murder mystery - Run Away - good kept me reading. Just finished The Silent Patient. A psychological thriller with a good twist if you like that.

Oh, I started that but had to return it because there was a hold on it. I think I'll get it again, thanks!
