Assisi Loop is ordered. Bonus: it works on inflammation so it may help her IBD if that's still inflammatory.

I found her scavenging for flakes and I found flakes where she was scavenging. Now I understand why the ears are being so stubborn this time.

So I believe whatever causes her ear to fill up is not just an ear thing. We’re probably having a hard time getting portions back up because of that. I’m willing to take it slower. Fewer calories in the stomach is better than more calories on the carpet. Her ear seems to be getting better slowly as I have been vacuuming up her secret stash of fish flakes. I weighed her yesterday. 8.2 lbs. No worse for all the wear. What she’s eating now is probably a maintenance amount and she can slowly gain as I’m able to slowly sneak her portions back up. When can I remember to buy her food. I forgot to stop by the store yesterday so we’re down to about half a portion of unadulterated food and nearly a full can with CBD mixed in. We finally got a poop. We’re a go to continue with CBD oil. At this point, I don’t have much of a choice. She has two maybe three more meals until I can get her more food. I’m hoping more than anything that the CBD just helps with any post-meal digestive discomfort she might have. If it also gives her a measure of relief for arthritis, that’s a happy bonus. But we have the Assisi Loop coming next week. I’ll likely discontinue the CBD oil when it arrives so that I may know any improvements are from the Loop. Once I’m convinced the Loop is working, I can add the CBD oil back in.

:barf:

I have a new working theory. I think it’s the days I try to stretch the time between meals. Her stomach gets too acidic. It’s always the first dinner after the long fast from lunch. Today she told me 7 hours was too long. I didn’t have to be out 7 hours today. Next time I do, though, I think I will give her a much smaller portion to break the fast. If that doesn’t help settle her stomach, at least it will be a smaller pile to clean up.

She had a smaller redo portion. No grudges. She’s still licking her lips though. But I don’t think a barfy Krista would have climbed into my lap right now.

I am hesitant to disturb her just in case.
:fear:

Assisi Loop came today. Krista sat through about five minutes of it. And then, cats will be cats, decided she was done. We’ll work on that.

I was told it stimulates blood flow to the area. So while many cats won’t feel anything, some might feel sensation or discomfort like pins and needles if the area getting blood flow hasn’t been getting good blood flow for awhile. She sat through about five minutes. Then she got up and sat back down just a few feet away. So I gave it about a minute before placing the loop back on her. She gave it another five minutes and then moved just far enough to get out from under the loop. So I gave her another minute and replaced the loop back on her. And I broke the first rule in the instructions: don’t let the control piece out of sight. Doh! By the time she got up from under the loop a third time, it was done. Instructions say we should do 4 of these 15 minute sessions a day for the first 3-6 weeks and can taper back to twice a day as relief is observed. And it can take two to three weeks for many owners to see relief.

She just completed her second session. She doesn't hate it enough to run away. But she does get up and move just enough to get out from under it. I don't know if she's bothered by a sensation like increased blood flow or if she's just bothered by it on principle like, "why is this thing laying on me?"

She’s definitely more squirmy during this session. I don’t know if it’s causing discomfort or just annoying her. When she gets up, it’s just moving a foot or two. Not even leaving my reach.

It’s probably too soon. But I swear she’s already got a spring back in her step after a handful of Assisi Loop treatments. After her 10am treatment, she climbed out of her tree and came directly into my lap. She feels like a more substantial cat than before. I weighed her the other day. 8.3 lbs. Stable to rising. Makes me feel less urgent about portions right now. Her poops are perfect with just the turkey, the dirt, and no salmon oil. Dare I say it. We’re doing really good right now. If only she could let me go a little longer between meals...

She has parked in my lap long since I finished my cup of coffee and halfway into I have to pee. She also started to groom herself and then stopped. So she’s a minefield of wet spots when I pet her.

LOL that is funny. It's like when I sit on the Couch with WL - she licks the blanket on the couch and I ever know what spots are dry.

Cats like to leave us this mystery!

Somewhere in all the tooth extractions, licking has become uncomfortable for Krista. She used to leave wet spots on clothes and blankets, the bed, the couch, I've even seen her go to town on the carpet before. That's the saddest thing about all she's been through. Licking used to bring her so much joy. Now she's much more reserved about it these days. She still grooms herself but she's been a lot more stingy with the kisses. I make sure to thank her for every one she blesses me with these days.

I can get used to these Loop lap sessions. Except the Loop ended 15 minutes ago. And my coffee cup is dry. And I’m going to need to pee soon. But you stay as long as you like...

I responded in the other thread about the Loop. It was an annoyance thing. If the battery points down on the cat, it acts like a weight on the loop and the pulling force probably feels like a necklace too heavy. But if I put the battery on her back with the loop pointing down, then she forgets it’s all there and goes back to sleep or resting, paying it no mind.

Loop session in the foreground. Empty dinner plate in the background.
:yess:

She’s been doing really well since her rough weekend and the slow reboot. Yesterday I gave her an extra mid afternoon snack so that if I stayed out a little later on a Friday afternoon, she’s not building up an acid stomach. It worked. No Friday night piles or puddles to clean up.

I can’t tell if the Loop is working yet. I believe it is. But I also feel impatiently hopeful. It used to be 50/50 whether she would join me on the counter during meal prep or wait for me on the ground. Now she’s up there barking orders at me like a furry Gordon Ramsay every meal. She’s a hoot when she’s got the meowing and the trilling going at once. We have some delightful conversations before meals. She’s also getting frisky again when she wants to wake me. Speaking of that. I think the Loop is working on her IBD and digestion because she’s been resetting back to hungry in no time. It may also be working on her mouth because she’s been kissing me a little more lately. Still not like before but it’s been a sweet surprise to have that behavior return. All in all, subtle positive changes that I want to see more of. I’m excited for her.
