Thanks everyone. I went to A&E this morning. I've broken the toe and knocked the nail nearly all the way off.

*shudder* Gives me the quease just thinking about it.

So I'm going to be out of action for a while. No horse riding, walking or yoga until it heals.

But I can still do stomach crunches. Abs of steal, here I come.

Norachan Norachan get better soon! Glad you got it looked at!

I got my insoles. They have this funky bubble in them. I have to wear them or walk in them 1 hour a day. This morning I did 1 hour on right foot and 2 hours in left foot. That one doesn't hurt so it's not bad. I found it easier to just wear one at a time.

I had gotten some boots last year that ended up being way too big. I kept them. Today the insole is in those. There's more room for the top of my feet in them. So I have a Timberland on one foot and a Merrill on the other foot.

Thanks everyone.

Winchester Winchester sorry about the gory details.

I'm trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. I did a 45 minute yoga session today that was all floor work. Stretches, twists and core work.

foxxycat foxxycat those are interesting! How long is it likely to take before they start making a difference? Do you feel anything yet?

Norachan Norachan I just want you to feel better! (Many many moons ago, I was coming out of a convenience store and I was wearing sandals. I hit the cement bollard with the corner of my foot and broke my little toe. My poor toe was at a right angle to the rest of my foot. It gave me the heebs; didn't hurt, but it looked really funky. I ended up in the ER where they yanked the toe back into place and then tape it to the adjacent toes. Yanking the toes back into place hurt like a bugger and then they had to pull me down from the ceiling. :) Your toe reminds me of that time.)

foxxycat foxxycat , hope those insoles help you!

rubysmama rubysmama Thanks! I need to do something other than just walking. I find it boring to stick with an exercise routine, though. I'll walk to the ends of the earth anytime before I do a couple of crunches. Go figure! How's your painting going?

I need to do something other than walking too, except I'm not even walking these days. :rolleyes3: Maybe we should start yoga in January.

As for painting, I'm down to 1 more room on the main level. May get it done before Christmas, but if not, in the new year for sure. Then it's the basement. That won't be such a big job, as the drop ceiling means lower walls. But there is the stairwell ... :eek2:

:noway: That would have scared the B'Jesus out of me. I think when you first do things like that you're in shock, so you don't feel the pain of it. It's not until later on that you really feel it.

I did another hour of floor yoga today. Crunches are good, I can do a lot of crunches at the moment. Just not so good at the walking about.

You've done a great job with the painting rubysmama rubysmama

I drove home with my toe that way. Got into the house, showed my little toe (which was swelling quickly to become a BIG toe) to Rick and said, "Do you think it'll be OK?" To which, Rick grabbed his keys and said, "ER! Now!" It was an....interesting....experience.

Good work rubysmama rubysmama with the painting. I think I'm going to try something, starting Monday. We'll see how long I last. This time.

I had my FitBit charging all night Thursday night. Got up Friday morning, put it one and things were good. So I thought. I got about halfway through my day yesterday and realized that it was "this close" to the battery dying. Got home from shopping and put it in the charger again. Put it back on this morning and it seems to be OK.

Friday -
15,784 steps for the day = 8.21 miles (it's really more than that, but with the battery messing up, well, that's all I had)
16 floors
94 Active Minutes

Winchester Winchester they suck. It's causing more pain than before. The bubble is whats causing the problems. I have throbbing feet for 6 hours after. They wanted me to go in to see them this week but i told them no. I'm supposed to go to the shop to work on my merchandise and gym. Now that won't happen due to vehicle issues. I swear I have just come to deal that I'm always going to have foot pain and thats the way it is. I wanted 2 sets of inserts made but now they only made 1 and these are junk becaue the bubble hurts. They seem to think my feet will get used to it. Bullcrap. It's like walking on tennis balls in my shoes. These people are nuts. I have to wear them an hour or two a day. I do. But they hurt. I use a different pair of boots because of foot structure hits top of boot where bubble pushes my foot upward and now rubs on top of foot and socks irritate my toes. Tomorrow going to try sockless. I know it's gross but i cant find socks big enough for my fat legs. They cut off circulation around the ankles. And when walking the sock pulls tight across my toes making them ache. I buy mens large when i can find them. Xl are too big. Then the ankle part is up my leg. I swear i really hate my foot right now .:rolleyes3:

I need an investor to help me design socks for larger people. The regular socks dont cut it for us larger people. I will keep wearing them for an hour a day because they seem to claim it will fix the alignment of bone in my foot. Good grief. :frustrated:

Oh and the left foot doesn't have any pain. Just the right foot.

How's that toe doing?
Not bad at all, thanks. I went back to A&E on Monday and it looked a lot better than I thought it would.

I'm doing about an hour of yoga every day. I've found there's actually a lot I can do without putting any weight on my foot. Lots of stretches and core work, some inversions, arm balances and twists.

I've noticed that I need to stretch because with limping I'm putting extra strain on my left leg and feeling it a bit in my back too. Stretching helps to even things up a bit.

foxxycat foxxycat that sucks about your insoles. I was hoping they'd make things a lot easier for you.

Well done susanm9006 susanm9006 Maintaining what you've got is a big part of the battle at any age.

foxxycat foxxycat : sorry about the insoles. I wonder if they will feel better after you feet get used to them? And about socks, I find the elastic doesn't cut into my ankles if I fold them down.

Norachan Norachan : glad your toe is feeling better. And good that you can still do yoga.

susanm9006 susanm9006 : congrats on your 3 year gym membership anniversary!

Winchester Winchester : congrats on your Fitbit results. 21,000 steps in one day is incredible! I think the most I've ever walked in one day was 18,000 steps. Once. My average these days is 7000. :ohwell:

Aw, foxxycat foxxycat I'm sorry. I was really hoping that those blasted insoles would be the answer for your foot. That just sucks little green worms. I had bought some cheap insoles (Dr. Scholl's) a few years ago when I was having that tendon problem in my foot. They did nothing, other than pushed my feet further p into the top of my walking shoe, which caused more pain. It's hard and I know you're trying.

Norachan Norachan , glad the toe is going to be OK.

susanm9006 susanm9006 Kudos on your gym hours! Excellent work.

rubysmama rubysmama Thanks! I just keep going. It's a combination of getting my walking in in the morning before work and then doing the 12 Active Hours during the day. Sometimes I'll walk a bit at night, too, to get my 30 floors in. I think it all helps.
