Norachan Norachan Hopefullh maggiedemi and I will both heal! Cats are good at swatting!
It was irritating to have BJ’s appointment canceled AFTER I had him caught! I don’t understand the switch to no ferals today on such short notice! No explanation was available. I just rescheduled for next week. Oh well. Just one of those things. Ferals are treated like lesser cats here a lot. Yet, they are fantastic cats! Especially BJ.

Hmmmm. BJ is even better than having a dog. NO! Lol He won’t clean the litter boxes. He is my watch dog. He woke me last night by raising a fuss. I got up and turned on all the lights. I stayed with him until he was calm again. Tonight I was checking all the kitties before bed and noticed since the temperatures dropped a lot tonight, it was very cold in one spot. My windows are the kind that you can pull in at the middle for cleaning. After moving everything blocking the way to see why it was so cold there, I discovered this....

Somehow the window got pushed in at the middle and the alarm was totally disabled and pulled apart. Part of the cover is missing. I have repaired the alarm and have secured the window so this cannot happen again. In fact, all the windows. This must have been what BJ was trying to tell me last night. He had a clear view of this window from his room. Tonight I just turned out the outside light by this window and he hasn’t hushed up since. I have decided to leave it on. He is meowing still. Tomorrow I will check outside and see if I can find anything unusual. This is a really great watch cat! Good boy BJ!

Now for our giggle tonight I have a cast of three characters. First is Smokey.

I am Queen of everything!

Pretty good jump for an old lady! Lol

Next up are Lady and Thrasher. Thrasher is lower in the pecking order than Lady and she knows it. Lady fussed at her today and hurt Thrasher’s feelings. Poor Thrasher! However....

I spotted Lady in a cage and I did not put her there. It is always open for the cats to nap in but the door was pushed shut.

Lady? How did you get shut in there? You have such a pitiful look on your face.

Thrasher shut you in and won’t let you out! Cat payback! :flail:

BJ appointment cancelled. They decided no ferals today! :(
Very frustrating, I'm sure. But at least he's safe and sound inside. And being a great watch cat too. :catman:

olding this little phone for hours to try and type my posts.
I just Googled, and you can buy keyboards for phones. Something to consider, maybe.

The cats are really making me laugh by hanging out in the open trap. I think they are laughing at me.
So funny.

SIGH...perhaps you could rent a dog...some of them can clean out a litter box in 15 seconds flat. Why do they do that?
But then she'd probably end up having to clean up dog puke. :barf:

That does it! No matter what, YOU ARE KEEPING BJ! Bet he'd attack if a stranger got in!

I am typing left thumbed! Lol Everything else hurts from all the house securing/ hammering etc. but I had to say, you all made me laugh about dogs and cat trees! Too funny!:flail:
Norachan Norachan Yes. I am sure they tried. One reason I plan to move. BJ probably stopped it although if they had come in they would probably have met an angry woman. I walk softly and carry a big stick. And a telephone! I have an SOS function on my phone. I have to imagine that they might have found it hard to walk among so many cats too! Lol Cats scattering everywhere! I might have been laughing! The last intruder left very quickly and was very scared.
rubysmama rubysmama Thanks for the tip! A keyboard would be fantastic! M maggiedemi I am so glad you are healing!

surya surya I agree! Smokey claimed all the food! There are advantages to being the top female! Maybe we could make this a permanent cat tree! Lol

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I really believe BJ would attack a stranger. He’s a great kitty! I’ll put up with swatting any time!

I think tonight should be a “celebrate BJ” night. My hero kitty! :clap2:

If someone came in..... I’d pretend to be asleep.

That is very scary that someone tried to break in. Was anything missing? Do you have anything to protect yourself with, (besides them tripping over kitties)? I was thinking about getting myself something to club people over the head with. I'm not really a gun person.

Norachan Norachan i agree it is a bad situation. Reporting is always done but nothing ever comes from it. If they caught them here it would accomplish something but they never do. I don’t think they actually made it all the way into the house. Either I scared them off or something stopped them. I have implemented many deterrents over the years. There is little else I can do. I have exhausted all avenues. This area has improved though. Land values are rising so it’s getting better.:) Good time to move.

surya surya They did not steal anything that I can determine.
For your protection, A baseball bat works. A strong cane would too. It’s best to just keep them out though. There are bolts that lock into your floor instead of the door frame. They are great. Very secure. Confronting anyone is risky. If someone ever comes in, you grab your phone and bat and hide. First thing, call 911, then just wait quietly. If you can’t avoid the person try to keep them at a distance. Talk your way out if possible. You can replace stolen stuff but not yourself. Only use a weapon if there is no other option. I also cut wood pieces that I put in the top half of the windows so they cannot be opened by sliding up from outside. There are lots of low tech things you can do to secure your home. I also have alarms on every window and door but as you see in the photo, they are easily disabled. My combination of high and low tech has worked so far, along with the help of alarm cats! :angrycat: Lol

I'm just thankful that everything ended well, and BJ didn't have to attack anyone. And I really think that there is a good chance that he would.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I believe he would too! I need that sign blown up to poster size for the front and back of my property! Lol Actuall, I just need that guy on the front and back of my property!

Jcatbird, I loved your story and photos of how BJ would handle an intruder! It made me laugh! It sounds like you have lots of security measures in place so please continue to stay safe. We need your good advice and support, not to mention regular BJ updates! And I'll take one of those guys in the front and back of my house, too!

surya surya I am glad they didn’t get in too! Whew! BJ would end up with terrible indigestion if he ate something that rotten!

Avery Avery I love the idea of posting that picture! Lol A wet cat is an angry cat! At least mine would be.
I’m glad you liked what BJ had to say about the whole thing. He is a very smart fellow. I guess he followed me home the day he moved in to protect me. I just didn’t know it then. He is a very good son. I will be paying close attention to how he reacts to everything. Funny thing is, I have picked up on his reactions since he came in and I did know they were due to outside noises and other people. Now they carry even greater significance. I have had a watch cat before. She did attack someone for yelling at me. Lol They quickly retreated and never yelled around us again. She was a small female named , Baby. A delicate looking fluff ball. BJ is huge! I think an attack by him would be very scary. I can see the news headlines now,” Cat Honored After Eating Intruder To Save Mother and Innocent Kitties” Immediately after that there would be an ad sponsered by Alka Seltzer. ;):wave3:
