I got an amazing amount of shopping accomplished today. Once the holidays are officially here I won't feel like I have to focus on that aspect so much. I can enjoy the season! It was kind of nice to see the mall being decorated before the crowds descend too. My kids got to peek into Santa's workshop; but he wasn't there.

My goal is usually to be done shopping by Thanksgiving, and I am done. Makes me happy.
Santa's busy making lists and showing his elves what toys need to be made, you know. ;););)

Here's a pawsitive, I spent 3 hours in town today and didn't grind my teeth over rude, impatient, loud and generally obnoxious people because there were none. The stores we were at had customers and workers who were super polite. A nice lady ahead of us in a check out line had about 70 billion items in her cart and saw we had about 6, and insisted we go ahead of her.
At another store, a cashier we had was so nice and had such a good attitude.
We keep things on hand that we "MIGHT" need if we can't get into town over the winter (it happens, a lot) so we buy weird things like huge amounts of OTC medications and canned and dried goods to make sure everyone is fed. It's an ordeal...
When the bottle of laxatives scanned by I might have made a bad joke about how we're only buying these because my wife (standing next to me) says I'm full of crap, and the cashier busted up laughing and couldn't stop for about 30 seconds.
My poor wife. She's a good sport.:flail: But she laughed too. I apologized and she said "why? You were right."
As the kids say (said?)..."oh snap"!

I only got ahold of a Target Toybook this evening when we were in there. Santa has been impatiently waiting for the lists! :p

I like your wife's sense of humor.
Santa's got a lot of things to build in a short amount of time. He's a very busy guy. ;)
When they say the older you get, the faster time flies, they ain't lying. I think if I blink too fast, I'll miss the next decade.
Christmas time is so much fun for these kids. I have so many memories of excitement and anticipation and how every normal thing is peppered with some excitement just because of the time of year. TV commercials were given holiday themed jingles, everywhere we went was full of decorations and it was just so exciting. Even school was fun because there was this weird buzz in the air that no teacher could kill. Every kid had ants in their pants because the season is just so contagious.
I couldn't care less about it for myself, once we get older the anticipation isn't as strong (...damn. :() but these kids just make Christmas time come alive. Stick a 3 or 4 year old kid in front of a wonderfully decorated house, or put them on the lap of Santa, and order yourself to etch that image in your mind forever.
If you got a kid in your life, make it special, for both of you. If you got a pet in your life, make it special, for both of you. Memories last a life time...

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Well last night I went to a local library book sale then Goodwill. Then came home to a Honeybee who wanted to play. I redid the stack of blankets in my bedroom and got some pictures of my girl.

She's always giving me the stinkeye  she doesnt like my camera I guess? :dunno:

20181114_200536.jpg

That fluffy thing is a cat/dog toy. It's a big bushy tail thing that she bites and licks. She really is a whackadoodle!

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 That joke about the laxatives is too funny!:flail: I bet ya a barrel of laughs! I do enjoy your posts! I hope ya continue to share!

This morning there was this beautiful sunrise but of course I didn't have my phone on me. Someone mentioned that Iphones take good pictures. I've always owned Samsung products. I've got the 8+ only because I was saving for this phone for a year..I had an S3 that was 5 years old so I figured it was time. I never had any issues with this camera. I ended up getting a larger gog storage due to all the photographs I take. I highly recommend any new smartphone! They all take good pictures! :yess:

Oh and one more picture of Bee trying to lick my finger or rather bite it.:flail:

This morning it was 17! It's so cold that Miss Bee slept on me most of the night and I didnt turn the heat down like I usually do. We are in for snow late tonight so I may get a day off if it's really bad!

A pawsitive is reading all your posts and thoughts about life and "stuff". It's nice to see people opening up and talking about a variety of things. Keep up the good work folks!

Jcatbird Jcatbird I can imagine that cleanup. I spilled just a LITTLE bit of dish soap on the kitchen floor once. Took me FOREVER to get clear water up with the mop! I was thinking the suds would take over completely.
@mani I encounter little kittens with some of those conditions sometimes in my advocacy work and am always so grateful when they are rescued. May you and sweet Sundar be many times blessed with all good things! and may the medicine continue to be very PAWSitively effective for him.
1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 We did not celebrate Christmas except as a popular secular holiday, and I remember the family driving out to these streets that were decorated with lots of lights and lawn displays. For a little kid, it was magical, which made it magical for my parents as well. It is always nice to find any reason to make life special, isn't it?
And everyone with smartphone cameras, aren't they amazing?! I'm no pro photographer but I do enjoy taking pix of my beloved cats, what nature I have around me, and the house; and I got big storage, too, for that reason. I have a 2T HDD that I can just dump stuff into forever, too. I haven't counted how many photos I have, but it barely makes a dent :yess:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Yes I remember driving around the town as a kid with my parents to look at all the Christmas lights and decorations. There was this one guy next town over from where I grew up and he put quite the spread on for the kiddios. I remember as a kid I looked forward to this every Christmas time. I always say Christmas is for kids. Us adults get to set up all the complex games n decorations while the kids spend a few minutes ripping apart the gift wrap that was painstakingly wrapped in precision!

@neely I forgot to mention that Carleton looks absolutely marvelous and you are a lucky kitty parent that gets to gaze at such perfection!:redheartpump:

@mani I loved that picture of Sundar making biscuits in his sleep. Nothing so precious than our babies who are just too adorable! I am glad the kidney disease is in check...I've had cats who had moderate kidney issues that managed well on sub fluids and wet food...here's hoping for many more months for you two!

@Tobermorey What a lovely thing of your Lily staying close to you! I too love it when our pets snuggle up with us!:hugs:

Jcatbird Jcatbird I am so sorry about the mess you had to deal with! I can imagine that the cat litter made a sludgy mess with the soap...and the soap slimy feeling that took firever to rinse!! :hugs:

A pawsitive is playing back some more CDs that I haven't heard in years. Music just makes the day go by better!! :sunshine:

foxxycat foxxycat --Love the pics of Bee, she looks like the princess & the pea. With all this talk about smartphones, do you have an old one that you don't want? I could trade you something for it. I'll send you Rockhead. :D

Shane Kent Shane Kent --I really like that song you posted. You should post more Canadian singers for us. There was this one, Chantal something that I liked. I can't remember the names of her songs though. :)

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --Your laxative joke was hilarious and your wife's comeback even more so. I just love you two kids. ;)

Jcatbird Jcatbird --"New hope every moment." I love that.

Positive: Last night our power went off at 8pm. It was hilarious that I couldn't find a single thing to do without it, but go to bed. At least I got a really good night's sleep! It has been a strange, rough week or two and I really needed the sleep.

M maggiedemi I do the same thing when we have power outages at night. I mean, what else is there to do -- read by flashlight?!! One time I was watching TV and I heard this loud WHOMP! and I thought, "What has my stupid neighbor done this time?" because they were very loud people. A second later, everything went out. So of course I went outside to see if everything else was dark. It was. I found out that a small plane had crash landed about a block from our house. In the residential area. It was a true miracle because no one was killed or hurt on the ground, no structures damaged, and the pilot actually bailed and walked away. One of the truly PAWSitive outcomes to a disaster that I personally know about.

Given how my night went, my positives for today are that it's actually going better than I thought. My apartment flooded last night around 11 pm (I mean like water was coming out of light fixtures and vents) and I had to go to my parents' place with two freaked out (and very mad) cats. My parents live an hour away from me and I also had a job interview this morning at 9 am. I didn't sleep well, but the interview went great I think and the damage to my apartment doesn't seem to be as bad as I initially thought. My cats are still freaked out, but they'll come around.

LOTS of Pawsitives today! My new bras came in the mail, and fit perfectly, just in time for my luncheon with my neigbor tomorrow at a really nice local restaurant. AND my pots and pans arrived! I've been making do with one pot and one frying pan for YEARS, and ordered a really nice set of the non-stick ceramic ones. They were backordered, and not expected in until after Christmas, but...THEY ARE HERE!

And best of all, I have HEARING AIDS! I can keep my tv down around 15 now, and not bother my neighbors, I listened to an old Enya cd last night and wept from the beauty of it, and I can really hear conversations again!

Hekitty snores like a buzz saw...who knew?

Gld things are working out for you! Yes good fitting "things" make all the difference in the world! Which reminds me to hit JC Penney for my things since nothing fits well anymore or wire has pulled out.

Let me know what you think about those pots. I don't need more pots but I do have the original set I bought in 2005. They are non stick but scratched. I've got one of those expensive stainless steel deep frying pans but they stink for doing stir fries in. This winter should give me time to cook again as long as we get lots of snow! So I don't have to go anywhere!

Oh Honeybee snores like crazy too. She has this squeaky snore at times. Whistle type.

A pawsitive is Honeybee got to spend a few minutes outside real quick. She ran to her spot by the front garden and rolled back and forth on the hottop. I have no clue why she does this only in this spot by the garden. There's catnip growing nearby but she hardly pays it any attention. I do have a patio block at the edge and she rubs and curls herself around it all the time...maybe there's catnip oil all over it. She's so adorable! She came right back in when I called her. It's 27 degrees outside right now...snow later tonight! She's gonna be mad tomorrow morning when she goes out for her morning jaunt and there's 4 to 6 inches of snow!

@Mamany1953 How nice to get those good pots and pans! I know how wonderful that can be. I inherited quite a few, from my grandmother's cast iron skillets to my mom's international cookware, almost all of which is of better quality than what I had. So I kept the best of mine and added it theirs, and I now have a respectable kitchen full of cookware! *I like Enya, too*
Ladies, don't forget eBay for clothes. I've gotten some really nice bargains there, from foundations to tops. Their customer protection policies are great, too. It's all PAWSitive to me!;):yess:

And a couple of fur kitties wanting their photos posted.

I hope everyone is doing well on what has been a rather chilly day in Ottawa. I was surprised Zoe went outside for several minutes, not far from the door though. I am not surprised Taz decided it was too cold out for a run around the house. Good old Mother Nature is starting the big long reboot as Winter has definitely started here. As much as I am not a big fan of Jack Frost I do appreciate the reboot. Life would be boring without the Seasons:)

Shane Kent Shane Kent genius! What an adorable mewzic box! *And it goes without saying -- but I never tire of saying it -- what gorgeous CATS!* Yes, life is not the same without the distinct seasons. Here in L.A. we have two: hot, and dirty. Sometimes -- most of the time -- they blend. I like THIS:

Shane Kent Shane Kent I am so glad you repaired it! What could be better than a cat, a horse and a lullaby? It’s a real winner to me. The compressed air was a great idea. I have a music box that was passed down to my daughter from her great, great Aunt Love but it struggles to play. Perhaps your method will save it. :) Tell Rusty and Zoe that their portraits are stunning! They made me purr!

MonaLyssa33 MonaLyssa33 I am so glad you survived the flooding and that things went better today. I hope the kitties relax quickly. Good luck on the job!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 The bubbles were everywhere but it was actually kind of funny. The cats were very curious about the sound of tiny popping bubbles everywhere. (Until they want to walk across the floor! They were actually very patient waiting for me to clear the mess up. )

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 It’s great that you got a message from a true friend! They are precious to us.
You and your wife crack me up! Too funny. You both have a great sense of humor!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I am so sorry about the mess you had to deal with! I can imagine that the cat litter made a sludgy mess with the soap...and the soap slimy feeling that took firever to rinse!! :hugs:

It was a slimy mess. I felt like I was on ice! At least it wasn’t a frozen mess! Lol We are just now having a few days where we need long sleeves. It’s supposed to get to 40 degrees tonight. A nice change from the heat we get.

foxxycat foxxycat --Love the pics of Bee, she looks like the princess & the pea.
Bee is a Beauty!

Hmmmmm. Maybe everything happens for a reason? You needed the rest so I’m glad you found a good use for the dark.

You really did have great positives today! It’s so great to know! I love Rnya too! A lovely voice and now you can truly enjoy the music.

I love all the posts about Christmas! Watching children during this time is so much fun! When my nephew was little he was staying with me one Christmas when his mom was sick. A friend put on a Santa hat and beard and Christmas night he “allowed” my nephew to get a glimpse of him out the window. It was dark and my nephew was a believer. He is grown now but still talks about the experience with great sentiment. My friend is now 81 and is very happy to have pleased him so much that he still remembers it. My nephew was only two. Funny what kids remember and awesome that we can all still cherish the memories. Every good memory needs to be frozen in our minds. For those of us old enough to remember the slogan, “ Kodak moments”! Have a wonderful night everyone and every kitty![/user]
Hmmmm. My post is coming out all catty wonders! Lol I wonder what I did! This is a second attempt to edit but since glitches keep blinking things out I am assuming my one bar signal is affecting things. Sorry everyone! Third try means you’ll have to click to expand the post I guess! ;)

Holy moley, MonaLyssa33 MonaLyssa33 that apartment flooding is scary, but I'm glad the damage wasn't as bad as expected.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 , that little tree looks like I feel...tired, standing at an odd angle, missing half its leaves and a little snow on top!:flail:
I'm glad the laxative incident wasn't too off color for this thread, later on after I shared it I mentioned that and my wife was like " Why do you tell everyone about stuff like that?" then I feel like a big old :paperbag:

Fun stuff today, I had this big long to do list (don't I always :freak:) and got the regular routine done by 12:45. Friend stopped by and we pretty much shot the (laxative result) for almost 3 hours and I got very little done. Nothing I have to do is an emergency, so I didn't get any flack.
Tomorrow's always another day, my friends. Do what you have to do in a day to ensure you and yours are housed, fed, and happy but never put off talking with a friend you don't always get to see because you have to change a light bulb or clean out the truck or clean out some closet. Be smart, do your work you have to do, but don't pass up the opportunity to connect with a friend when the option presents itself.
And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that philosophy extends to our little four footed friends, too. :catlove::petcat:

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 --Glad that your...ummm...clothing...fits well.
Congrats on the new pans. I love cooking, even though I fail every time.

Shane Kent Shane Kent --Great job fixing the rocking horse music box, it's so pretty. Lovely glamour portraits of the furkids too. Thanks for helping me find the Chantal Kreviazuk song, her name is so hard to spell. :)

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 --Tell your wife not to worry, we're used to it, we talk about poop on this site all the time. :D Was that a tree metaphor? I'll take it, thanks. ;)

foxxycat foxxycat --I love JCPenneys, I hope they don't go out of business...Speaking of stir-fries, I need to experiment with that stir-fry cookbook you sent me. :)

Positive: When Maggie was in the kitchen, I told her in my excited voice- "Maggie, hurry get in your cage." She ran all the way to the other side of the house and got in her carrier! My little devil is a genius. She knew right where the carrier was even though it was out of sight.
