The German Animal Welfare Association sent out a CD of traditional English and German-language Christmas carols to everybody who has their pet(s) microchipped and registered - it's a great compilation!

They've also set up an emergency fund for those shelters that will soon be overwhelmed by live "Christmas presents" discarded after New Year's Day.

That's a beautiful web @mani I always try not to break them too, although I have walked face first into some big ones when I haven't been paying attention.

We have had a few light snow falls and got the first of the slightly heavier snow falls last night and this morning.
That looks very wintery already.

Here's a photo of my neighbor across the way...such pretty snow!
That is pretty! Don't your cats like the snow? Mine always want to go out and run around in it.

Hiro looks like our "No holding or kissing, just pets please" cat.
Pet her and she's a doll baby flopping around your feet, and can't get enough of that darned petting.....pick her up and she freezes stone cold and slams her front feet in your face and can push against you like Iron Man.
I've got a few like that! They'll come up and butt their heads against me and I'm allowed to pet them from about mid back down as far as the base of their tails, but that's it. I wouldn't dream of trying to pick them up, I'm sure they'd freak out.

:climbcat:

Hiro is a total love bug though, he's always happy to be snuggled.

My positive for the day is that it got down to zero last night, so it's finally time to plug the kotatsu in again.

:yess:

Cats will be sleeping in their heated cat cave under the table until spring.

It's snowing again out there.
20181117_111504_HDR.jpg

On a Saturday morning, it's actually kind of pretty. And I'm grateful I have a spot in the garage at this apartment. This is the first year since I started driving I won't have to clean off my car in the mornings.

We had a fun night last night hanging out with a couple of my bf's college friends. I owe Lelia an extra playtime today, but luckily she understood I was too tired last night.

Norachan Norachan --What is a kotatsu? Is that a blanket warmer? My former ferals hate to be picked up too, but sometimes there's no choice. The only time Demi has really injured me is when I prevented him from making friends with a raccoon.

Shane Kent Shane Kent --Oh that's a really pretty tree pic, looks very Christmas-y. That one blue cat figurine almost looks like a piggy bank, or a kitty bank. :)

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --We have to have a landline here, it's the only way to get DSL internet. Our phone company owns the lines, so we have no choice. Seems like a monopoly, but that's the way it is, we have to use them.

Positive: Wow you guys, I feel like a big meanie. I won't tell you what I do about spiders. The positive is I can always learn to change my ways. I'll look into a kinder way to remove them from the house.

Spiders in this house usually get the treatment of a clear glass or plastic cup to trap them, and then a stiff piece of junk mail (best use of that LOL) to slide between the edges of the cup and the wall so the spider is truly enclosed, and away to the outside it goes :)

Speaking of going, here's a BIG cheer for Martin Truex jr and Joey Lovato this weekend!! Last race of 2018

This is totally fun and I think super positive - Jell-O is introducing edible slime - have you ever noticed how completely yummy strawberry jello smells? :yummy:

@Jcatbird Yeah, I have such fond memories of my mom and I window shopping. She wasn't here for PCs and I often wonder what she'd do if she had one. She was pretty low-tech and old school, but getting on listservs for her favorite shops might have changed that. *ConCATs times 100 or so to you, too! You are a HERO for cats!*
Thank you to all spider savers. For us, they are sacred. I've always loved seeing their amazing webs and their beautiful sizes, shapes, and colors. They eat "harmful" insects and do humans much good. So let the spiders live, please!
M maggiedemi Yeah, you said it on the monopolies. It just goes more and more in that direction. And then people have the audacity to diss facebook, using it all the while, for being a monopoly. To which I say, "PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!"
Shane Kent Shane Kent LOVE your new catties! The ultramodern look is a favorite of mine.
And to all who post snow pix, THANK YOU. I have to get my snow fix from pix, now, as you probably know. And I miss snow so much.
Norachan Norachan Your mention of the kotatsu brought a smile to my face! I'll let you explain what it is to those who aren't familiar with them. It immediately brought to mind my dear friend, who's from Fukuoka.

Shane Kent Shane Kent - I think we ended up with a little more than you did, but nothing at all like foxxycat foxxycat got. That first snowfall is always so pretty. From the office window. At the edge of the woods, Autumn still refuses to relinquish her dominion to Winter:

OH MY! Not only is the snow lovely, but LOOK at those stone buildings! Stone speaks to something deep in my soul. I may have to print that out and frame it!

Megapawsitive today...um...well...We finally have some fall color! It happened literally overnight. Yesterday I remarked to my neighbor that I didn't think fall was happening at all this year, and today I'm seeing a bit of yellow, and a few bits of orange here and there. High time, it's almost Thanksgiving!

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Norachan Norachan Actually no. Honeybee doesn't like it unless it's 40 degrees or warmer. A few winters ago I held her in front of a foot of snow out the back door and was going to pretend to put her in it, i was just teasing her and she whined. So of course I hardly make her go out but she does appreciate it when I shovel the deck and a tunnel underneath. She only spent a few minutes out there today. Sun was out briefly then the clouds came back and it was cold again.

Shane Kent Shane Kent Love the tree pictures. The lovely findings at the local thrift stores are a cute find as well!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 You can have our snow!!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Yes my mother wasn't around for the Facebook era either..kind of glad in a way because she couldn't keep secrets! But yes she did love online shopping at LLbean and similar stores. And I agree with you about the Pffft comment. Facebook has enriched my life by finding other cat lovers and my prior ebay customers who wanted to stay in touch. Which is pawsitive because we get to share each other's lives with each other.

Furballsmom Furballsmom Spiders in my house usually get sailed outside on a piece of junk mail or on my finger and placed on deck...depending on how big and scary it is. My dad always told me don't kill spiders because they eat mosquitoes!!! And here up in the Northeast we have tons of pesky mosquitoes!

M maggiedemi yes we need to save the spiders...I understand the first reaction to a creepy crawly on us! Let the spiders eat the other pesky bugs.

A pawsitive is spending time with a family member on Jon's side. We went to a local burger joint that has the world's best burgers and I was shopping online for a second car. I happen to find an older model Buick that is very reasonably priced! I hope to be it's next owner! I don't like small cars but this sedan is very comfortable to drive and the price is cheap! I hope it's not a piece of junk when I go look at it next week. The joys of buying cars, right?! But if it works out that would save me money on gas even though I have to spend money on insurance for it but I just always wanted to own 2 cars...because why not, right?

Shane Kent Shane Kent is that first one, the little girl holding the kitten, maggiedemi or WHAT?!! The Siamese is moi, of course as my mom had such a "thing" for the meezers and I have her four vintage Siamese figurines. The crystal one is gorgeous.

I've been enjoying a long YouTube video just posted today by the amazing Kitten Lady a/k/a Hannah Shaw with her latest save, a ONE DAY OLD calico kitten originally saved by Chris the Cat Guy and turned over to Hannah to raise. Day One has gone well. You all owe it to yourselves to look at it. Best 20 minutes you've ever spent.

When Mr. PushPurr and I were first dating, that movie Arachnophobia came out. At the time, Mr. PushPurr was terrified of spiders. I did not know this. During that Arachnophobia movie, he kept clamping his hand on my knee in fear when a spider came on the screen -- which tickled me (my knee is ticklish). He would scream at the spiders, and I'd be laughing and reflexively kicking the chair in front of me. We almost got thrown out of the theater.

Pawsitive: Now, years later, we live more peaceably with spiders. So much so he takes photos of their great webs when we walk outside, and I "escort" indoor spiders outside using Furballsmom Furballsmom 's technique.
:)

I wish I could have been there and seen and heard that. I can picture it, and it's very funny IMHO. *THANK YOU bigtime for walking the spiders out. They really do us a lot of good.*

Oh man, that Arachnophobia movie memory has me losing my mind! The mental picture... :flail:
We weren't in a theater but we did make a big, BIG bowl of popcorn one night to watch a movie (scary movie but I don't remember what, it's been quite some years ago). I somehow managed to sneak my entire hand into the popcorn bowl unnoticed, when wife went to reach for some during a tense scene, I yelled "BAH!" and flinged my hand towards the sky. She wasn't thinking I was very funny then but now she laughs about it. Sense of humor is always a pawsitive thing, to me at least.

I PAWSitively will not watch horror films or gratuitously violent films or shows, period, end of story. My choice, because I don't find any redeeming value in them and contrary to the mainstream I do not enjoy them. I like life-affirming entertainment *which includes some of the most terrible true crime shows and murder mysteries. Why? Because I like to see these crimes solved and the loved ones getting a modicum of comfort because of that.* I like docs the most, because I learn from them. My favorites? Docs about CATS large and small, and those who care for them. Now THAT's PAWSitive IMHO!

And because that might be a little too much white here is another photo that has a bit more color
Is that black cat with the star cut-outs a candle holder? That's a nice decoration, good for Halloween or Christmas

What is a kotatsu? Is that a blanket warmer? My former ferals hate to be picked up too, but sometimes there's no choice. The only time Demi has really injured me is when I prevented him from making friends with a raccoon.
A kotatsu is a table with a heater under the top and a blanket that fits over it.

I found this picture yesterday, isn't it cute?

They're really convenient because you can sit at the table, working or reading or whatever, and have your legs all cosy and warm underneath. Ours is a family sized one, you can fit at least 10 cats underneath it.

Little Boy barely moves from under there once it's switched on.

LittleBoy42.jpg

Your mention of the kotatsu brought a smile to my face!
It's strange that they haven't caught on in other countries. So many Japanese people living in Canada or N.America, you think they'd have introduced kotatsu to the rest of the world.

she does appreciate it when I shovel the deck and a tunnel underneath.
Yeah, shoveling tunnels through the snow for the cats to play in is one of my favourite things to do in the winter. My cats are pretty hard core though, they'll go out and run around even when it's freezing cold.

Here's Henry Lee in one of the tunnels from a few years ago.

Snow24.jpg

My pawsitive on this wintry day is that I shoveled for the first snowfall of the season.
Congratulation! I have snow envy.

I like docs the most, because I learn from them.
I really like watching documentaries too. I'm addicted to one about Air Ambulance Rescue in the north of England right now. I know I shouldn't watch it, because I keep waking up in the middle of the night going "OMG open fractures! I wish I hadn't seen that." But I know I'll be watching the next episode as soon as it's on YouTube.

My Positive for the day is that I have a long lunch break, so I can go out for a bit of a walk between lessons today.

Furballsmom Furballsmom --You mean Joey Logano? Hey I just Googled him and his nickname is "Sliced Bread." I wonder why. :headscratch:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --Well I don't think Shane is gonna let me have 2 figurines named after me. I can't be too greedy. :D I prefer true crime shows too, like Dateline & 48 Hours.

Shane Kent Shane Kent --That top one looks like a Precious Moments figurine. The middle one is the best one though! I love the glass & the little blue necklace. :)

foxxycat foxxycat --LOL about your mom not keeping secrets on Facebook.

Positive: My brother & I have been bonding over classic cars and we might even go to a car show together next summer. I could tell he was shocked that I'm into cars now because he answered my email in 2 seconds flat.

I'm not a bug person, but oddly, I've always liked spiders. I take them out alive every time.

We had a good double date with my sister and her fiancé, but I'm exhausted after being social two nights in a row. The joys of being an introvert. Lelia is wandering around making noises and I'm relaxing with a cup of tea before I likely go to bed early. Bed sounds amazingly positive right now.

His nickname is Sliced Bread...really??
...uummm, maybe as in "the best thing since"?

Norachan Norachan what an awesome picture of a truly awesome yawn LOL and what fun to see that little black dot in all that snow turn out to be a cat! :cloud9: .:cool2:

Positive, that it IS possible to make a Hollandaise sauce at home that isn't all that complicated and really tastes wonderful
