Prayers and vibes that the little guy gets to come home with you! Sometimes the only thing that can fill a cat=shaped hole in the heart is A CAT! It is an honor and tribute to Isabelle if she gave enough love to strengthen her grieving family and give them the courage to love again. Like the Smokey Robinson song say, "Love don't give no reason; Love don't give no guarantee. It could last for a season or it could last eternally.
And I agree with the attitude of some vets about ferals and shelter cats. But then there are those country vets who have a stoic attitude, like my vet who says that no matter what the station in life is, there can always be something to go wrong.
I will be looking forward to a happy update :vibes::heartshape::devilcat2:

We have 3 cats, 2 of them are rescues and were very sick when we have found them. We have found the 3rd one last year, her eyes were totally infected, vet confirmed it is herpes. She stayed 1 week at the vet, got antibiotics. Then we brought her to home, her eyes were totally cleaned and healed but we kept her in a separate room for 2 weeks more approximately. When we introduced her to our other 2 cats, 7-10 days later they also developed a bit of clear discharge from their eyes, lasted 2-3 days and that was it.

None of them had any sypmtoms ever. All of them are vaccinated (FVRCP).
I believe good nutrition and stress free environment is the main factor to not to have flare ups.

We will be leaving for the shelter in about an hour. My stomach is in knots from worry. This will be a huge adjustment for our current cats as well.
It may sound ridiculous, but I just wish I could get some kind of sign to tell me that this is the right kitty at the right time. My heart tells me it is, but hearts can be foolish. And I know me. I can fall for a kitty in about 2 seconds. Heck, I'm in love with at least a dozen babies that I've only met through pics and stories here on TCS!
Fingers crossed that when my partner meets him, there will be some "magic moment" and all doubts will melt away. I want the best outcome for EVERYONE involved.

I have my fingers crossed for you, and my toes, and everything else I can cross. :)

There have been times when we were still grieving for a kitty who had crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and didn't think we were ready yet to adopt another cat. It somehow seemed like a betrayal to move on too soon, and we didn't feel it would be fair to a new cat if we were still mourning for the last one.

But sometimes kitties have a way of inviting themselves into our hearts when we least expect it, and we're so glad they did. I like to think our angel kitties in heaven realized how badly we were still hurting, and sent a new fur baby into our lives at just the right moment to comfort us, and bring joy back into our lives.

Good luck!

:vibes::vibes::vibes: Sending calming vibes for you - kitties sense worry & might respond accordingly. If no other options have turned up for that kitten, then there is your sign. But if you see a Great Blue Heron or songbirds, that is a traditional positive sign.
I can hardly wait to hear your final decision:winner:

We arrived at the shelter and couldn't find my little boy. They were short handed today so I spent a lot of time talking and petting the other babies while waiting.
When they finally were able to talk to me, I got the devastating news.
Ben and his siblings had been treated at the shelter for over a week but sadly did not respond to treatment. The shelter determined that they were unadoptable. When I asked what they had done with them, I was told they were given to a private rescue organization who were better funded and could get them the medical treatment they need. I asked for the contact info but she couldn't give it to me. She said when the cats were ready for adoption again it could be anywhere, like at a Petco in another state. I told her that sounded wierd, but she said this rescue has ties nationwide. It all sounds very mysterious to me, but why would they lie?
Anyway, I was completely heartbroken. The girl kept asking if I had seen all the cats. Wasn't there another one I might like? No. I wanted him.
Then as I was leaving, a paw shot out of one of the cages and snagged my shirt. My partner knelt down to unhook the claw and gazed at the kitten it belonged to. "I guess we'll take this one."

I can't believe it. I'm honestly in shock. The little guy I've been hoping for is gone, and my partner who wasn't ready for a kitten just picked one. (Though she says he picked me.)

So everyone please join me in sending good vibes to Ben and his siblings, wherever they are sent. Hopefully they get well and are adopted soon.

And here's a shot of our new, unnamed, handsome stranger.

Awe what a beautiful little fur-face, love the silver mixed in with the black! Maybe not the kitten you wanted, but the kitten you needed right now (maybe name him Batman? ;)). While I hope Ben and his buds are safe and recover at the rescue, that kitten is absolutely gorgeous.

Gracious sakes what a story.
I'm getting a bit weepy about the whole thing and this isn't even my cat. I hesitate to say, but maybe it was meant to be...wow.
Just wow, and what a gorgeous feline!!
Geez, ok, so, now that I have my heart back in its normal place, I do know that Denver Colorado's rescue organizations take in a LOT of animals from other states.

All I can say is my partner who was tight-lipped and tense on the way to the shelter, is all smiles since we brought him home. He may be the most affectionate kitten I've ever met. He's adorable and clumsy and after 2 minutes out of the carrier, acted like he's always been here.

So it's normal then? I was SO worried that they put them down and she was afraid to tell me. She was so nice about it. They didn't even charge for the adoption of our new baby. He came neutered and microchipped.

Oh, he's adorable! Congratulations on your new kitty! Sounds like it was just meant to be, even though things didn't work out quite like you had planned. But sometimes what starts out as a disappointment can turn out better than we dared hope. :)

I'm especially excited about your partner being all smiles about your new kitty. Maybe that was the sign you were looking for earlier.

We're trying to come up with a good name for him. The shelter had him listed as "David Bowie" but I'm not exactly keen on that. Hmmm...Ziggy Stardust?

It's normal, not to worry.[/QUOTE
I know several rescues who are allowed to pull high-risk litters. I am keeping Ben & siblings in my prayers :vibes::vibes::vibes:
Meanwhile - little Ziggy is super-cute. I love that white on black coat. I am looking forward to see what he looks like all grown up - congratulations on your new boy:heartshape:

When we arrived at the shelter, my partner really didn't want to go in. She couldn't bear seeing all those kitties. So she just kept looking straight ahead once we were inside. She didn't look at or interact with the other cats at all while we were waiting. But she locked eyes with this little guy when he snagged my shirt and that was it.
It was a very convoluted way to get to where we are, but he is such a happy, loving little thing. I think he will do her heart good.:)
