Moonie came to me because he kept attacking the workers trying to clean at the shelter. When he first got here I couldn’t turn my back on him. He’s so much better now, last night he crawled into my lap for pets!View attachment 223615

While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? Another Snowshoe? Yippee!

I just came in from a late night walk with my daughter's dog. The snow is falling steadily and you can see droplets in the glow of the street lights. There's something tranquil and soothing about walking side-by-side with a pup in the evening. Shh, please don't tell Carleton what I just said.

So true! I had a customer-from-h-e-double-hockey-sticks today. I won't go into the details here, since it's the PAWsitive thread, but suffice it to say that employees from the shops next door came in to my store to complain about her. Bad. But immediately afterwards, I enjoyed a kind interaction from a stranger in Safeway, which restored my faith in humanity. And I get to come home to the cuddliest, cutest animals in the world!

Edit: posted too soon in my excitement to concur.

Congratulations SheriB SheriB on posting #4000! And it really is a special kind of happiness when a cat goes from looking for trouble to looking for laps! :yess::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::bouquet:

Today we had our first real snowfall of the winter... on the second day of spring. With so many plants already flowering and leafing out, I went out to see how they were faring in the snow. PAWSitive point number one: I did not slip and land face first in a drift.

Here is something that I've never seen before: snow reflecting the color of a flower. Colored lights, sure but a colored flower? New to me. (I know it looks a bit um, iffy but that really is a yellow daffodil being reflected there).

IMG_6038.jpg

Here are three more daffodils, stalwart against the onslaught of the elements.

IMG_6039 2.jpg

I'm feeling PAWSitive that damage will be minimal because the snow that fell in the morning was melting by the afternoon.

While I've been writing this post, Chula has been reminding me that this site is about Cats and that she is a Cat and that it's time to give her some attention. I can't resist her for another second, my sweetie pie! :redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump::catlove:

I finally found someone with a pickup truck. Since I had wrecked my van over a year ago I had been looking for someone with a pickup who would be willing to take me to the horse stables to get some compost for my garden. So yesterday this lady came to my place and brought a helper to go get 30 bags of compost. The darling helper hauled all the bags off the pickup (at the stables they put the bags into the pickup, van or whatever you bring) and dumped them in my garden plot, I knew it was going to be hard on me as I have never gotten all my strength back from when I was sick in the hospital in September. So today I went to my garden plot and emptied 24 of the bags into the raised beds, yeah! 6 more to go and then it will be time to plant the summer garden. Unfortunately all my rhubarb died when I got sick because they were not watered enough so I will have to order new ones from Burpee, the blackberries of course survived, you can't kill those. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers I can get locally and beans, carrots, radishes and others I raise from seed. Grapes are just starting to leaf out and the dragon fruit got more arms during the winter so I should have more fruit this year than I had last year. I've got mint and basil growing in pots at home and am planning on getting some more herbs including catnip so Bebe can go crazy. I have to put that out of er reach or she will wreck the whole plant trying to roll in the pot. I have to just cut some and give it to her that way. So I am all set to start working in my garden again, listen to the birds, smell some fresh air, away from all electronics, and dig in the dirt. Heaven. How is that for pawsitive and that without cats involved? Then home where they wait for me and are all over me as if I had been gone forever.

Congratulations SheriB SheriB

:cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

You too, huh margd margd ?

We had crazy amounts of snow here yesterday. This was the view looking out of the front door around 4 pm yesterday.

Snow56.jpg
This is the same view this morning.
Snow65.jpg

The outdoor cat trees are almost completely buried. I usually go out and dig a little path to the trees for them, but not today. It's that wet, heavy snow and it took me an hour just to clear the deck and the front path.

I'm still waiting for the snow plow to make it up here. The positive is that I don't have to go any where today and I've got a nice cup of hot, spicy chai. I need something sweet after moving all that snow.

Only two more days after today and I will be home with Carleton. :anticipation: I can hardly wait to cuddle with my boy, lavish him with love and hear that soft, sweet purr. :catlove: Unfortunately I can't take my daughter's dog with me, he would be the perfect dog to keep Carleton company but alas not geographically suitable.

margd margd , that is a very pretty picture of Chula! She looks like she is asking to say "hi!" to all her friends on tcs!

It is exciting to be starting a new set of one thousand, I am so glad the thread is continuing, congratulations SheriB SheriB ! Truly wonderful!

I can't speak for other locations in my state here in the northeast United States, but we are in the midst of a nor'easter which is really amounting to no accumulation at all! It is snowing, but the snow is not sticking and the skies are brightening! :clover: I have a feeling Spring weather is almost here.

segelkatt segelkatt , your garden plans as you have described here have really given me Spring Fever! :daisy: :purplebutterfly: :tree:

I think I woke up to less snow than what I started off with yesterday morning. :dunno:

I'm having one of those mornings where my blood pressure is up and my eye is twitching, but I do have some positives. For the past week and a half Abby hasn't been eating much, but I think she's finally turning it around and starting to eat normal again. Also, I had a special eye test on Tuesday and they called to say the results are normal. :) I also got the rest of my accommodations booked for an August vacation. :)

Norachan Norachan - You have 23 cats - how much sweeter could it get?

Bright and sunny here today - far too nice to spend indoors.

A very paw-sitive thing is an exciting movie. All the more paw-sitive is having the day off. I will also paw-sitively Spring clean my living room, but I have chosen the movie Jamaica Inn, 1939 to play all the while I'm cleaning. Talk about making cleaning fun! I hope it is a good movie. And I know my living room will look good, too!:):daisy:

Woke up with *THREE* beloved cats curled and purring, and now I am working away enjoying the sound of the rain (and Beethoven's 6th) with a tortoiseshell laptop and this just in! a blue-cream visitor. My gardeners didn't come by as it is raining, but the yards look great anyway, thanks to their attention and expertise. Got a housefull of me-food in yesterday, and we had our big auto-delivery from Drs. Foster&Smith last week, so we're well stocked and happy.

The rain always gets here a few hours after it hits Glendale where tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 lives so it did not start here until way after midnight but it has been steadily raining ever since, the light soaking-in kind. I'm sure glad I got all that compost into the garden yesterday, the other 6 bags can wait. It's also not as cold as it has been, the extra humidity helps. Although it's almost noon kitties are awake and walking around or lounging wide-eyed wherever they can watch me. Strange.
I have to go to the store for things that can't wait like more cat food and some more litter, also eggs and while I'm out might just as well stop at the nursery (Green Thumb) to see what they have in the way of plants for the garden and a digging fork. Then I'll check my seed supply, I know I've got plenty from last year that will do just fine. :yess:

This is an age restricted community so nobody under 50 lives here. But when I went to my garden yesterday I found my digging fork missing, somebody must have just reached across the fence and snagged it. There are plenty of tools available in the community garden shed but I have noticed not a digging fork in sight.:( So somebody taking mine is really annoying. You'd think that us older folks would be beyond petty theft for something like that, I guess not.:headshake: No wonder there is a plan to put an electronic gate on the entrance to the community garden, at least it will keep the general public out and we'll know for certain that it is fellow gardeners who do stuff like that. Or maybe workmen who are employed here. I lost a beach buggy and a flatbed truck out of the underground garage, both of which I used to move stuff too bulky or too heavy to move by hand. :cloudy:

Lest you think this is all negative let me assure it's not. There is hardly a chance for mudslides here, there have been none since this community was established in 1965, the sprinklers don't have to come on (we are short 6 inches of rain!), the waterfowl will be out in droves, there is little traffic because folks don't know how to drive in the rain, the stores will be empty so I can get in and out fast, I'm healthy and so are kitties, I'm not broke as my tax return check paid for a few unexpected bills (car!), so what more can I ask for? Life is pretty good. :hyper:
