So, not a good week for me: Car, financial things, and now the church.. BuT ARTIE is good!!! Thanks for asking.. and keeping us in your thoughts
I'm sure you know this but it doesn't hurt to repeat that you are always in our thoughts. :heartshape: The old saying rings true, i.e. "when it rains, it pours." I sincerely hope this week is a little gentler on Artie and you.

Good luck with your car repairs. :goodluck: Can you leave music on for Artie when you're gone? Anything to help drown out the noise from the workers ripping up/ installing new carpet. I don't want to be the one to hijack your thread now but DH also had some very costly car repairs a week ago. The only reason I'm bringing it up is because I can empathize with you.

I also wanted to mention how sorry I am about the closing of your church. I know how much you enjoyed volunteering and the close friendships you have made at the congregation. How soon will the closing take place?

Sending more prayers and healing vibes your way for Artie and you. :vibes::vibes: Remember, you are never far from our thoughts. :hugs:

I'm disappointed, but not at all surprised that Artie isn't eating the way we would hope just now. With all that upheaval, I know that you BOTH are creeping around the apartment with shot nerves. POOR BABIES! Hang in there! Sooner or later they will run out of things to make you crazy with. I hope. If not, let me know. I'll hitchhike up there and beat them severely about the knees and ankles with my walker!

You made me laugh, really chuckle..

And all the rest of 'our Army'... you make me feel so good.. ((hugs)) Thinking you may need a "road trip" at least with all the crap going on...

I am not certain when the rugs will be finished. I was talking to a tenant from the 4th floor, (where they began the installation). He said they are not finished up there!! The center is completely bare!!! Stupid companies.. Piecemeal work... and really ugly, cheap carpeting. It is better than what we had, because it is new, but it is still bad...

So the opposite end of my floor has the carpeting, My wing has bare, crappy concrete... with "yucks" on it! They have not vacuumed the other side with the carpeting, so there is huge pieces of lint fibers everywhere.

And coming home, the property manager and the carpet guy were in the lobby, discussing other work the PM has for him. The PM wants him to go somewhere ELSE, TOMORROW to install some carpet on some stairs... OMG!!! PIECEMEAL....

Yes, My nerves are really shot.. so many things have been happening this month, that I feel as if I am in a constant state of rage, anger, crankiness. My patience is shot. I have none. I just cannot seem to get a handle on things; each time I think I am taking a step forward, I then get hit with 3 steps back~~ and more anger...

And what I have budgeted for, financially, Has taken a huge hit.. a ton of unexpected increases in the prices of things. Makes me so furious. Thought this economy was improving.. not by me.. I am getting poorer.
****************************
Anyway, Artie is handling this pretty good today.. No Zyklene given. He has been hiding in his tent all day. He must really get frightened when I leave. His food dish has been nibbled at, each time I went out. I think he has to check the place out, looking for me. I wonder if he cries?

I left the local Classical Music Station on, at a higher volume than I am used to.

He has eaten 3/4 of a small can. That is good for him. He is snoring..

One thing that is bothering me about him: He has always had a skin tag on the side of his neck, left side. I had his Rvet look at it. It has always been the same size. Over the past 2 months that thing has enlarged in size, considerably.. I was feeling it last night and it felt
pointy and crusty. I looked at it this morning, and it seems there is a thin point to it.
The thin point appears to have been bleeding a bit.. Oh NO... not another thing.

And I tried to order the lactated ringers for him. OMG.. There is a shortage. There has been one for a while, but the hurricane disaster in Puerto Rico, demolished the factory where all the IV fluids are made. Now there is a real crisis in supply.

A case of fluid is now selling at an additional 50 % increase in price!!! That is robbery!!
Even the pharmacist said that he could not order it because it was outrageous! But Artie needs it.. so I have to shell out $50 more dollars....

It just seems that things are so far out of my control.. in all facets of my life. I think that is why I am so full of anger and so short tempered.

Waiting for a phone call about my car. I want to pick it up tonight or Thursday. I do not want to drive during a snowstorm. That is what we are getting tomorrow.
The rental car place closes at 6pm.. the repair place at 5;30pm... It is getting close.
If I do not hear anything by 5pm, I am calling the repair place. They were supposed to call me. The repair place does not want to keep my car during the snowstorm. I do not want to drive a rental during a snow storm...ugh...

just another thing out of my control..

Just like in my life (and probably a lot of others') it's either feast or famine, isn't it? The best thing I can say, and we can all think, about all that mess is that it WILL be done and over with, and better times WILL come.
Good on you for leaving the Classical music on louder than normal for our golden boy. I'm sure it helps him. I listen to it daily, too, and I know my three love it! When it gets noisy around here, I turn it up and it does help maintain equilibrium for us all.
Stuff out of control? Yeah, it is. Stuff we CAN control? Yeah, we will! :yess: and I'm sure you know that "serenity prayer" ;) so brush, hug, stroke, and/or snorgle ARTIE and know that "this, too, shall pass"! :D:redcat:

To hijack my own thread: I got my car back!!! In less than a day. If I had known it could have been done in only one day, I would have rearranged my schedule and not rented a car!!

The rental only cost me $35 plus tax, etc... and I did not have to put any gas in it!!
It had 1/4 tank of gas. It was up to me as to who would add gas. I chose to have Enterprise put in 1/2 tank. I knew I had errands to run, but not many.. The car would have to be returned with 1/2 tank of gas.

The Sales rep, put in just over 1/2 tank, by mistake--they never give you more. When I returned it, the car had exactly 1/2 tank of gas! I looked around at the car, found the econoy-mode for the engine.. save gas that way.. so I used just over 1 gallon.. I was getting about 30-33 mpg...

First good thing that has happened to me this year!! finally!!

had to share...hope you understand.
Artie is still sleeping in his tent. I will be waking him up in about an hour or so...

How dare you hijack your own thread! And it's not even *your* thread, you know. It's Artie's thread. :winkcat: At least you mentioned the sweet boy, even if it took you till the 2nd last sentence.

Glad you got your car back, and that the rental wasn't too expensive. Hopefully your streak of bad luck is over. :crossfingers:

Stuff like that happens to me, too. Sometimes you think you're just resigned to having a big mess, when all of a sudden, something happens to break that pattern! With me, it's usually something most would consider small, but to me, every good thing is a blessing to be counted.
Hoping your car is good for another 150,000 miles :yess:, glad the rental was a good experience, and wishing you and Artie a GOOD day! :yess::redcat:

I think everyone has those kinds of days, the Murphy's law days where everything that can go wrong will. It's good when something nice happens to turn the tide.
And construction in your building or neighborhood can drive anyone bonkers, especially when it disturbs you and stresses your pets and you can't even get into your own apartment!

I'd have been cursing that nitwit nimrod out in four different languages and letting my big dog bark and lunge and growl at him for daring to yell at and threaten me, his mama.

Lol, and probably been evicted but made me feel better. Poor Artie's got enough stress!

I'd be happy to bring my dog over to patrol the halls and scare off the mean maintenance guys anytime lol.

He won't bother sweet little Artie at all, just clear out the building of the riff raff rude guys so Artie can get some much needed peace and quiet.
There's a cranky mean repairman who always gets sent to my apartment whenever anything breaks and he hates dogs and is always stressed out. He always yells at me, his co-workers, on his phone to the office staff and won't come in unless I lock the dog in a crate, which traumatizes the dog. The dog is actually really friendly and loves people and is a therapy dog so not at all aggressive but was abused before I adopted him from Angell so gets scared when people yell and barks. So he barks at the mean guy even in the crate because he thinks he's threatening me.
Glad your cars better, hope you and Artie are good!

Your dog ought to meet our neighbor dog next door. Poor thing is bored and barks. And barks. And BARKS. There's construction almost always in our neighborhood, including now, which means lots of strangers coming and going. You can imagine how she greets THAT.

Artie is Artie.. ok.. just say that hesitatingly.. he is sleeping in his tent. The snowstorm turned out to be a dud!

I stayed in today.. it was QUIET!!! peaceful.. no noise.. Artie and I are enjoying it, immensely.

Yes, Artie was cuddling with me in bed.. and then on the pillows; and then, waking me up! Yup, can't sleep in with this little one.

The past couple of nights, he has not eaten as much Fiber Response food, as he should have... down to 1/4 cup instead of usual 1/3 cup. He needs that for his poop.

Did some stuff around here; bed clothes, some laundry, a quick swiffer to the floors, and baked a pumpkin bread. It is nice and relaxing.. Alexa is playing some quiet Baroque music.. drinking a cup of tea.. a couple of long phone calls. One was aggravating, but that person always gets to me.. the other was good.

Artie will be getting his cisapride as soon as I finish here.

He ate good this morning: over 1/2 small can of Purina One Turkey with Giblet. He does like that one. I think it has chicken also :angrywoman:

No poops today. I tried to get him to 'dig, dig, dig'.. he pretended to dig, while cursing me out... but no poop!:bawling2:

Well, the peaceful bliss ended this morning with a BANG!! and shouting, and hammering!!

Artie did ok.. he ran to the door, which is pretty much blocked of all light coming in.

Artie is kind of ok.. He pooped last night, just before I physically went into bed; 6 x 1/2 inches.. soft, very soft at the end.

He woke me up this morning.. no poops, but he was hungry!! He ate well: 1/3 cup and 1/4 can..
I opened a Purina catfish and tuna can of food, mashed it down, added his probiotic.. he loved it.. ate about 1/2 small can. He is good for almost the rest of the daylight.

What bothered me, was that, I went over to brush him, He was at the door. I picked him up, had the pill gun loaded with his steroid, and a syringe of water; was going to put him on his cat tree..actually on the cardboard liner at the top..

I had to stop abruptly because there was a 2 x 2 inch cow patty on the cardboard.. No way to clean that, so I have to dump that out, and get a replacement.

About 10 minutes later, he was in his litter box.. tons of gas, and another cow patty of
3 x 3 inches.. sigh..

No Miralax for him.. I guess at least he is pooping.. but this is now his IBD which is coming out.. from all the junk food. I tried to give him some W/D the other day, but he turned his nose up at that and Fancy Feast Beef....

Right now he is sunning himself in the great room...

Caught him playing with, and trying to chomp on one of his 'lost' whiskers!!

What a crazy cat!!!

Oh, trust me. If you hadn't rented the car, SOMETHING would have happened, and yours wouldn't have been ready for a week. I know these thing!

the Murphy's law days
~mutters to self~ Murphy was a woman. If Murphy had really been a man, that saying would be, "If anything can go wrong, make your wife do it or blame her for it!"

Good to hear we have poop! I know the patties are not ideal, but what should be coming out, IS coming out, so we shall take that and be happy with it! AND he is eating! Junk food for the most part, but he is eating! WHOO HOO!
