Thanks, I put the Snuggle Safe on my Amazon Wish List.. I will see what happens..

Artie's tent is really cozy, soft and warm. It is a twin sized quilt, which is folded up, leaving one end up over the top of the couch. I leave a larger opening in the top fold for him to get into, whenever he wants.
It keeps him warm, and is very soft and cushy for him.

The Snuggle Safe sounds like a good Christmas gift for him. By then, he will probably need a bit more warmth.

I am going to see what occurs over a short period of time. Amazon is usually pretty fast with their deliveries.

yesterday, Artie ate a small breakfast, and went back to his tent. He slept all day in it. Finally, I had enough and woke him up at 6:30pm. That is when he really started to eat.

He ate 1 can and 1/3 cup of dry.., his typical amount of food. He did poops twice.. Once first thing in the morning; with the other installment just as I was shutting the lights out for the night..He has a routine, always before I get into bed.

Artie cuddled all night, waking me before 4 AM... somehow, my alarm was set for 5am.. he still cuddled right up to me, each time I moved ~~~ continuing to meow, and tap me to get up...

He is using the box stairs... all of them!! sometimes he jumps down, but on the whole, it is a good idea for him. It did not take long for him to get accustomed to them.
All I had to do was encourage him a couple times, and show him how to use it, only once. He is a really smart boy..He got the idea, immediately...

I did not brush him yesterday. I did not want to aggravate his pain...

Poop and eating. I'm a happy camper! AND he's using those stairs like a champ! I remember you wondering if he would ever get the hang of them, and how quickly he actually did. Our Boy has a full share of kitty IQ points! I'm currently looking at Amazon, Chewy and such, pinning ramps and stairs, and planning to start saving for a few of them. Hekitty will be 10 in April, so I can see a time coming where she will need them, too!

Wow, Bekkie, you were really lucky!! You must be such a great actress.. Me, my rash and stammering would give me away!! and you are fast on your feet with answers.. I just blubber...

So glad they did not see the secret shelter!!

My guess is; if they are planning on replacing anything, as in your front door, be very careful. They are probably looking around to see what else needs to be replaced.

This is a link to the stairs I got Artie, from Chewy.. really sturdy. I got them on sale.. I think it was $44 or so.. Chewy has sales periodically, especially around Christmas.
Armarkat Pet Steps, Ivory, 4 steps
This is currently on sale for $41.... a good price for the quality.

Actually, the district manager walks the entire property once a month to check on exterior maintenance issues, and I almost always have the dishes in by noon. I really did forget, I just lied about which cat the food was for!

I LOVE THAT! I bet Artie would have a ball with it! Steps and a "scratchythingy" all in one! Do I hear sleighbells when I look at that?

Sorry, I had to send that -- it is copied, not linked, but the 3 steps are $41 and the 4 steps are $44.....I got the 4 steps. It is right in front of my Dad's lift chair which has a soft fleece throw on the seat.

You can probably get away with the 3 steps. I was thinking of using it for my bed. It is high and this is perfect for it.

PS.. If you buy some litter, making the order over $50, the shipping is free. That is what I did.

Thanks everyone. I did have a couple of the orthopedic, warmed by body heat, beds. Artie would only try them out once.. for a few minutes, then they were sitting in the corners of my bedroom and the great room. He just flat out refuses beds.

I have a pillow bed for him. It is really a nice soft pillow, which is encased in fleece. He loved it at first. Now, it is sitting in the corner, being ignored. He still prefers his quilt/tent.

He is not a bed person. I am really surprised about the pillow/bed. I think I may try washing it, to see if perhaps it got some poop or something on it??
*Always worth a try!* And cats are unpredictable -- most experts say they love pattern or routine, and like the same things arranged in the same places and not moved. But they love new things, too, and they can suddenly decide they like something they never showed interest in before. The food issue, for instance! I know what you mean about the beds, but we have them everywhere, just in case...;):kneading:

I seem to have missed something; did Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 have a close call with the secret feral shelter?

These are beautiful and yes, a good price considering how nice they are!

See our PM. The whole story is there, AND in the "What's on Your Mind" thread from yesterday!

Hope you and Artie are relaxing this afternoon! I know the morning was a bit fraught.

"Our PM" was a reference to an ongoing conversation I'm in with Bek. When I left my message I had just gotten on-site for the day and had not yet checked my private messages or the What's on your mind? thread, and since I saw the reference to it here I thought it must have been in response to something said here. I found it in both of the places Bek mentioned as soon as I went there, but thank you for the link.

I cannot go through all that again: periodontal, endodontic, and prosthedontic stuff. No more bridges, root canals, gum surgery for me. I spent thousands on my teeth.
Cindy, we should have a talk some time. My sister and I both have a terrible fear of dentists due to our childhood dentist who we refer to as a sadist. :devilish: I still see a periodontist too and pray before every appointment that she won't find anything. If I need dental work done I tell them to give me double the novocain they give to other patients.

Back to Artie, I think I'll put the Snuggle Safe on my holiday list also. Glad to hear he is using his box steps and cuddling at night. Does he know he's your cuddlebug? :cloud9:

Yes, the Snuggle Safe will have to be on a Christmas list. I got hit with another major expense, this afternoon..something I do not want to go into detail with.. all I did, after reading the mail, was say; "Shoot me now!"...

It has been a couple days since I updated.
Artie has been such a love. He sensed my extreme anxiety about the dentist. His way of 'helping" me was to be a cuddle bug! For the past 4 nights, He has cuddled so tight, every night, in bed... wanting me to know I am loved. sweet boy.

He has been pooping ok... his appetite is not as voracious as it was, but still not bad at all..just a tiny bit less, but changed in habit. Many days he will not have breakfast, yet, eating late in the day--making up for past time.. strange..

I tried both the Cypro and the Cerenia to see if it was related to his tummy, and tried to increase his appetite... no way...so... I just deal with him.

His stool looks thicker to me, and not as much in length... sigh... megacolon...

The morning of the dentist appointment, I was up really early to give him all his morning meds before I left. Artie must have really sensed my urgency and anxiety, because when it came to the sub-q's, he ran away and hid. He thought he was going to the Vet!! OMG... such a smart cat... I had to resort to using the broom because he was under the bed, in the corner, and then had to close off both bedrooms... He was so good with the sub-q's but then ran away so fast and hid, again... poor thing.. I picked him up, reassuring him he was safe, and then put him on his cat tree, where he stayed.

Last night I did go out. I came home, Artie was at the door waiting for me.. he also ran out of his wet food! He was yelling at me for leaving him, and had such a loud purr. He was so happy I was home!!

The only thing: I had him draped on my shoulder, like a baby. I had his chest up to my ears, cuddling him. I could hear his heartbeat in my ear.. It sounded so irregular.. and kept up.. not just a variable double beat. It was prolonged. This made me remember the Cardiologist appointment he had about 6 months ago. The cardiologist found abnormal beets, and suggested periodic EKG's.. to be done when he is seen by the NVet.

I called and asked the NVet's secretary about this. Artie is going in to see the NVet in a few weeks. The sec asked NVet about this. He agreed, especially since I heard the arrhythmia myself. NVet and his secretary are handling this.. especially NVet. They will take care of him having the EKG that same day--in the morning.. cannot do it in the afternoon..... phew...

So glad I do not have to contact the Cardiology Department and try to coordinate things. The NVet and sec is taking care of it...

Just having my fingers crossed and saying prayers for Artie and this issue...

He acts ok.. is not flopping down, is not appearing overly tired.. he is getting older, has arthritis, and has tummy/bowel issues, so he is not going to be acting like a 8 or 10 yr old cat.. he is 13.5... will be 14 in February.

The rain stopped today, Artie was in a good mood... and so alert..
He needs to eat more.. and more poop... I will have the daily or twice daily lactulose battle around 5 pm or 5:30pm... was not home earlier in the afternoon for split doses.
I had stuff to do this morning, so I could not do the first dose...this will be a battle. He is good with 2 cc but any more than that, is a fight...

But we cannot see a pm...

The "What's on your mind?" Thread -2017

This is all I could find on the thing.
Very quickly, so as not to draw attention away from Our Boy and his loving guardian, who should be the main focus here, my site manager and district manager were walking the grounds, found the food dish (I successfully played that off as Hekitty's, and that I forgot to take it in due to a rush to the potty), and were standing RIGHT NEXT TO THE SHELTER! They actually complimented me on the pretty fairy statues on my "little table."

And back to our regularly scheduled show! Wonderful news! Again, Artie has switched things up on you (and us), but he seems to be maintaining on his new schedule. This is excellent news! Be sure to let me know when he goes for his next check and that EKG. I'll light an extra candle! He's on my permanent "candle list" anyway, but an extra won't hurt a thing!
