Whoa! Hold your horses everyone. In the first place, does your cat has fleas Mike89 Mike89 ? If she dosen't, I think you don't have to worry that much at the moment.

If you can't find a good flea treatment where you are or it's expensive online, you can try using food grade Diatomaceous Earth.

Here are some discussions on it. I'm not asking you to use it but just an option for you to consider. Any topical treatment, we must use with care. So give it a read and see how it goes.

Isn't the point of a flea preventative to use it before a cat has fleas. Just as you mentioned Diatomaceous Earth, can others not have a discussion about topical? I don't think anyone is telling anyone else what to use. It's just general conversation.

As far as I know she doesn't have any fleas. She was always an indoors cat at the shelter. I do want to try to get her to experience the outside soon because I bought her a cat harness, as well as a 10ft tie-on rope. However, someone told me that I'd have to get the flea & tick treatments first BEFORE letting her experience the outside. =/

They are too sweet. I though i would share a pic of my Angel with you. She and Tammy look like they could be related:)
OMG! AWWWWW! Your Angel looks so freakin' adorable! :D And yeah they look so much alike! Hehehe! Also, I made a photo album for Tammy on Facebook, if you want the link to it to stay updated on her? :) The link is actually my signature on here by the way.

My cats are Indoors but I still have to use the flea treatment every month. But I live out in the country, so maybe they are worse here.

I have no clue, honestly. No one told me at the shelter that I'd ever have to use the flea & tick treatments, even if she is primarily an indoors cat. =/

I actually checked out her album earlier and it is too cute! And thanks about Angel, she is such a doll!

If she's always indoors, and to bring her outdoors for walks, administrating flea med I guess it's just a precautionary measure.

But best if not necessary to apply often if there's no flea or flea infestation. Some cats don't take flea medication very well as some may burn the skin and if applied wrongly and at the wrong spot, the cat may lick it and ingest the medicine which is bad for the cat. Do it with caution and care please.

Congratz on your new baby :) I would like to suggest putting at least 2 bowls of water around your house/apt. My cats are drinking a lot more since they have water bowls in each rooms.

note: they dont like to drink in the bowl next to their food

I agree. I have 3 fountains in different areas and they use them all.

Ya, it's just a general conversation. I mentioned in my earlier post and said to TS I'm not asking him to use it but just an option.

I'm not intending on taking her for walks actually. I bought a cat harness and a 10ft tie-on rope, so I'll be hooking that rope onto a stationary object where she's still able to walk around the area without too much restriction.

Thank you! :) And yes I've already put 2 extra bowls around my house. (there's one in my bedroom, one just outside my bedroom next to the bathroom door, and another in the kitchen.) She hasn't drank any water whatsoever today by the way. Which kinda worries me a little. =/ I know that she gets most of her moisture content from the wet food I give her, but it still kinda worries me, you know what I mean? :( As for the tip about not having her water bowl next to her food dish, I've already figured that out within the first couple days of adopting her. That's when I moved her water bowl into my bedroom and left the food dish out in the hallway. :)

I wish I knew what kind of fountains to get because they only have 1 at the Wal-Mart here in my area. =/ And it's like $50. Maybe I don't need any?

I have another problem that I hope someone here can help me with. Ever since day 1 of adopting my cat, she always follows me into the kitchen and expects me to give her more food, even though she just ate and has a bit of dry food out for her. (1/4 cup of dry food.) However, what I've noticed more closely tonight than other days, is that she will literally flop down on the kitchen floor right in front of the fridge, and will not budge at all while someone's in the kitchen. It's like she becomes a stone and will not move even if you try to pick her up or nudge her a little bit. If I do try to move her, she gets mad and overly/excessively whiny. It's starting to become more of an annoyance than anything else, really. =/ Can someone help me with this, please? Thanks.

Is there lunchmeat in the fridge? Did anyone in your family sneak her a piece?

Great question and reasonable thought. It could also be as simple as a cat being a cat. They get some weird habits sometimes and they often don't stick. I swear all my cats have A.D.D. :)

Well a fountain isn't a must have of course, just a way to encourage drinking. The one you posted from walmart had a stainless steel top so I think it would be a good choice. If you like it you can just save up and treat her to it when you can. Cats aren't big drinkers so a fountain was just a thought.

No there's no lunch meat in the fridge. But I do keep the left over wet food in there. And no none of my family sneaks her food because I made it very clear to my family to not feed her anything that I don't approve of. Simply because I want to keep track of what she eats, and how much of something she eats.
