who is who?
Lovely picture, they both look so bright-eyed and healthy.
who is who?
Toad is top, Frog is bottom.
who is who?
Honest I can't unless I look at them from the top. Frog has more dark to his stripes and Toad has a more narrow stripe down the back. We've been very blessed in the health department with these two guys. I can see the difference in their bodies when they're playing. Toad has longer legs. Frog has bigger rounder eyes. Toad is the little spitter and Froggy comes a running when you put your hand down. So does Toad but Froggy makes a fool of himself but Toad is easier to roll into purr mode. Overall Frog has more dark hair than Toad. And I still mix them up.
and how can you possibly tell them apart? They're like two peas in a pod.

I know your babies are about a week older than my youngest litter- mine are all now eating wet food, I have had a couple of them go over and eat Mom's dry food already! Hopefully yours start trying it soon too! I know I was relieved whenever mine started eating wet food off of a plate! Love the picture of the two of them together! Also I totally get what you are saying with their personalities! All of my orange kittens look the same but act totally different! Its so neat!
He's always spit at stuff but this time I have him on video. They have two very distinct personalities. I swear they will put anything but solid food in their mouths. this too shall pass...
They look they sniff they run to me for the bottle. Truthfully it's mostly my fault I know these are probably the last babies I'll raise and it has been such a bonding time. Most of what is in the bottle is KMR second stage. But yes I'll be glad when the bottles are gone. sorta.

Instinct is an amazing thing. Mercy really never knew her own cat mom, yet she is doing what I have seen mama cats do with rambunctious kittens time and time again. She just knows. Toad and Frog are going to grow up with proper cat manners!
Mercy dishing out manners.
Good for Mercy.

We had a true feral colony when I moved out here 25 years ago. They wouldn't even eat scraps of food you put out for them. A pair of field glasses taught me much about cat behavior that I have used since becoming a cat lover and having them in my home. They have a complex social structure. The mothers who were the hunters often left the tom cat to babysit with a couple of kits making his life hell for a few hours. Cats have a language we haven't quite deciphered. I'm not at all surprised you had a male cat that nurtures the babies.
Good for Mercy.
I don't have a Surrogate Mum among my lot but Little Boy, my 18 lbs one-eyed tux, took over the role of Step-Dad with all the foster kittens I took in. Cleans them, plays with them, snuggles with them at night. He helped me socialise the shy, feral rescues as well.
We are the ones who were blessed. Taking care of Tera and teaching her to trust humans again and then being able to let her go so she has a chance at a peaceful home where she's the Queen. And the pure joy of these innocent little poop pots who chug along at my feet like ducklings. Frog especially who lays in the crook of my arm after feeding and looks in my eyes all the while touching my face gently with his paws. We are their world and owe them the best we can give.
Boy, the meatballs certainly are growing up in a hurry! Watching their care-free playing, I just imagined what their lives would be right now without your rescue. It's so wonderful you made this possible!
