I went on Amazon to see what their deals were.  I was disappointed.  You cannot see what is on sale until an hour before they put the item up and everything is jumbled.  I cancelled my Prime membership - I only got it for today.

I agree. That sale really is lame. They did not organize it in a good way at all. You can't search for anything. It is just silly.

Ha ha. Maybe we need reasons or a persuasive argument on why your cats are the best. :p

Here the sky is blah and the weather is blah. Which I'm happy about since it has been too warm here.
Actually the cats I read about here are pretty amazing - I am not sure I could successfully argue that just because Chula and Paul never act up, that they are the best.  There is so much more to being best than simply obeying!  I mean of course, I know they're the best but I don't expect anyone else to consider it for a moment.

Weather here in Maryland is exquisite.  Clear skies, breezy, 80's.  Can't get much better.

Behaving in cats is always so interesting. People are always asking how you trained your cat. Most of the time the answer is "I didn't".

@Losna  I understand where you're coming from and what you 're saying. I totally agree. Because what you say is the reality. All of us use the means we have and go by with what we learn on the way. I will insist though, that there must be at least ONE parent out there who might tell their kid "You know? This is not the most legit way to get to know someone". Plus, "hiding behind a monitor" can be tricky. How can you know that I am talking to you and I am not some terrorist? Only IF or WHEN you spend time with me, will you know who I am and if I can be a good friend for example.

And it gets spookier when the objective becomes of more intimate nature.. i wouldn't trust my daughter talking online with a boy, that might end up being some 50year old pervert.. !

And IMO, one CAN indeed differentiate online communication from face to face communication. We encourage our pets to socialize, but we let our children unsocialized and that's normal? (I am not saying YOU do.. just trying to make a point
 ) I beg to differ.

@rlavach  No, I know YouTube, I just didn't know you can make money as a user on YouTube
..

and @MagiksGirl  is giving us the full manual on how to do it

I'll look it up! ......    (Grizzly! I found you a job!)
On SNS (Social Networking Sites):

I believe SNS are easily misused and they can be wonderful tools for connecting with the world if you can't afford to travel. It does take a certain common sense when you look for meaningful relationships online. Like never giving out your home address, saying the name or address of where you work, your phone number, etc. Other than that you set boundaries with the people you are talking to depending on the SNS or place of conduct. You wouldn't expect to talk about advanced science or have a mature conversation with someone in an online game, but! you can give the change to further deepen your relationship with someone by using alternate means of communication.

In my case I met 3 wonderful friends in an online game, we hung out inside there and we really clicked as friends. I'm sure I must have met hundreds if not thousands of people in there, I looked for options and always made sure I was safe. Several times people came into my "online house" proposing things, what did I do? I banned and blocked them and then reported them. I was safe in that site. After many months of talking to people I made a public Facebook and added some people there. My common sense has prevented me from having to block a single person from there since I only add "screened" people. Out of all the people, I'm very good friends with 3. We ask each other for advice and boost each other when we're down. There were tiny slip ups but we made sure to let the other person know the boundary and we have respected it. We never pushed for a home address or even a picture. 2 of the people already had pictures on their FB so I "met" them right away, 2-3 years later I found out what the 3rd person looked like. Right now, 6 years later we know what we all look like and we didn't make a big deal out of it.

TL;DR: Use common sense and out of the thousands of people online you might find 1 or 2 (or 3!) people you can call your friends even if you've never met them.

On YouTube:

There are people who make millions of dollars from YT! But it takes time, skill, patience and determination. Something I don't have. I'm too easily distracted by "shinier" things I forget what I was doing and move on to the next thing

I think that was more than 15 words!

Yes, all my cats before Chula and Paul definitely each had their interesting little foibles and I don't think I ever trained any of them.  Wesley would sit upon command but I never trained him to do that, he just did.

Actually you put it better than I did (of course). There are ways to be safe. But I'm afraid the majority doesn't use them. They seem to lack common sense sometimes..

I don't know if it counts as "training" but I conditioned my kitties than when I double tap a surface (like a chair) they sit there to be pet.

Weather here is plain old Tijuana weather: It's very cool in the morning, there may be fog. Very hot and sunny up until the afternoon/evening; cool in the evening and very cold at night. We may experience light showers, cloudiness, fog, cold rain, warm rain, sun... all in the same day!

@NewYork1303  there haven't been many out of control play sessions since I started putting Binx in "time out" (i.e. shutting him in the bedroom with his toys), or bringing Eddie into the bedroom with me and shutting Binx out. I think Binx is pushing Eddie to play too hard too fast, but keeping them separated causes anxious meows from both parties, which is driving me nuts.

Anyone have any advice? They both are well behaved, and quit when I tell them to (apparently I have what is known as a 'command voice', lol, Semper Fi!), so I don't think the "Stop That" is necessary... yet. Binx seems to be calming daily, and Eddie has started playfully swatting at him. At least it looks like playful swats, I'm not totally sure :/

there's an ever worse hashtag: #hairflip (followed by an actual hairflip AND selfie WITH a DUCKFACE ALL AT ONCE! :argh:

Actually hashtags are a way of participating in an ongoing conversation online. I've been quite active these days on my Twitter account (I have the same nickname over there too) given the latest developments in my country. Although, I would never use a hashtag to e.g. characterize a photo, or become impressive etc.. I do use them so that I can be read by others who participate in the same trend.. Sometimes to actually alter the trend :D  But yeah.. hashtags do not belong on Facebook.. I mean, where's the point??

Nope, I'm with you on that.. Lots of creepy people out there.. :paranoid:

I have one, where I combine both friends/family and people with share interests. I don't think they're over 200.. I can't log in with one account, then log out and log in with the 2nd account... ugh! got tired just writing about it..! LOL

What if you present yourself as a person who is interested in adopting the dog, and work with the police at the same time? I've done that.
I've called her stating I'm interested, but no one answered so I left a voicemail about it. I have the general area where she lives, that's all I've got

When we do time outs (very rarely necessary) we do it for only a minute. Usually this is for dog cat interaction not cat on cat though. Usually if i tell the cats to stop playing to hard they stop just like yours. I feel just as uncertain as you sometimes. Its hard to tell when something is aggressive and when it is play. Especially with a kitten.

@NewYork1303  Weeeeell... my problem is that Eddie is 3y/o, and Binx is barely past 1y/o. I don't separate them for long, just enough to get the point across, if Eddie starts meowing. I don't want either cat hurt, physically, or emotionally :/

Well in Maryland, where it is in the mid to low 80's and breezy, this is highly unusual.  Our usual July is like living in a swamp - hot and humid with temps in the 90s and 100s.

@Raksha Oh. Both of my cats are so talkative that they meow whenever they are playing. Mine are a 3 year old and a four month old kitten.

Ooops.  I replied, not realizing that it was a consecutive post.   I actually did that myself earlier this morning and I couldn't figure out how to delete it so it's actually still part of the thread.

Hope you get your popcorn soon.

:wavey: I'm back!

Cat training....interesting...

The only thing I've trained a cat to do is teach Shadow to give me a nose-to-nose kiss if he wants me to put him down (big as he is, he loves being picked up and held with his front paws on my shoulder for a cuddle - the purrs are the loudest I've heard :9: ). He now does it every time without fail :heart3:

The skies just turned blue and the sun came out. Yay for beautiful weather again. Although now it will be hot.
I hate the heat.

Oh! I didn't notice you did it as well
Well... I hope the mods will let it slip since the mistake was  acknowledged

One of the nice things about being an adult is that you get what you want more easily!
One of the bad things about being me is that I forget things!
I'm sure I will enter the store and end up buying ice cream and yogurt or something

@Columbine  Welcome back!
