my last cat was absolutely obsessed with those metal rings from the candy machines .. still inside the plastic dome things.. idk how to describe them properly, but hopefully you know what I mean because google images doesn't..

my current kitty wants to play fetch with anything he can carry.. he tossed a used napkin at me the other day and was like “well????“

My cat, Finnigan, absolutely LOVES foam earplugs. My mom works at the airport and has tons of green foam earplugs. I find them all over the house, mostly under my blanket on the bed. He can't pass one up, and tosses and carries them around.
Another strange thing he's found is feet. He will hide and wait for someone to walk by him. He hides around corners, behind doors, in bags, and charge at any unsuspecting feet that pass. Finn even jumps on anyone in the family's bed to attack moving feet underneath the covers.

Rhys also loves earplugs. We have the bright orange industrial ones, and always find them in a trove behind the door to the basement.

I sat a rectangular box on my bed to fold my blankets and put them in to, and Finn decided to "nest" in this box.
It's his new favorite activity.
He digs through the blankets, and nestles down in them. Finn also brings his most beloved earplugs and fuzzy mice to this new "nest".
I guess it can stay on my bed:p

Just make sure he doesn't chew pieces of them and swallow them. That is asking for a large vet bill.  That said, mine like to steal bread ties off the counter when I am not looking. I have to make sure that they are either wrapped around a finger or tossed in the swing-lid trash can.

He never actually chews them, rather carry them around and toss them in the air. After he gets bored with one earplug, he'll hide it under my covers with the others he's collected!

You are so right. My kittens have taken to playing in the empty bath. Don't know why but they love it!!
My cats love the bathtub as well!! Sometimes they paw at my shadow through the curtain while I shower and lose their balance and fall in!

It is usually cooler than the rest of the house, there is a curtain to hide behind, even if it is partly open, and it looks like a big empty box. Some cats (mine) also like the noise it makes and the echo.

And Rhys likes to go into the bathroom cupboard and steal tampons!!
One of my kitties, Baby, will get under the sink and bring tampons to the nearest person. Always awkward when your guests are delivered tampons by a cat.

My two absolutely love bags of any description. Plastic carrier bags they have to climb inside and rip them to shreds and they will try to climb inside my handbags etc and cardboard boxes they absolutely adore. If I buy anything which is packaged in a cardboard box my they try to get inside them even whiled opening them. They also like pens and straws and anything which they can roll around the floor. they also love a tape measure especially if im trying to use one to measure anything and Alfie likes to rattle the chain on the front door. They also run off with tea bags whether used or not and last week I bought some cherries and left the bag on the kitchen counter and later found most of them scattered around the kitchen floor.

My cats Bella & Thunder just don't want to play with any toys. I have tried to make it interesting fir them like hiding things in tubes. The toys just aren't exciting enough I guess. I'm making a trip to the pet store today to see what I can find and what they can come up with now.

1. fresh green beans (unpeeled).

2. leftover used bass / guitar strings (this is by FAR his favorite toy)

3. milk and water jug rings / caps

3. crinkly packaging paper from boxes (the eco kind used to wrap fragile items in when being shipped). My cat loves it if roll the paper out in a long strip and throw a toy mouse on it or under it and then he runs and pounces on the paper and then slides down the wood floor on it like a slide. (so for optimum results place the roll on a slick surface like a wood floor or linoleum).

I had a cat growing up that LOVED cigarette butts. My mom smoked and we had to hide her ashtray or we'd find the cat running around with a cigarette butt in his mouth.

in transition...
Not a toy per se, but Honey Pie loves to play with the bedroom door. He's fascinated that it moves back and forth, and by the little gap underneath it. We have to be extra careful when opening or closing it, because he's often right there to investigate its movement and stick his paws underneath! It doesn't help that there is a tall dresser behind it when it's open. There have been a few times when he's moved as if to jump from the dresser to the top of the door, or sometimes he'll reach up as if to lean on it and leverage himself to the top, but the door simply swings away from him and almost dumps him on the floor.
I think he's learned not to try that anymore! Thank goodness it didn't take a fall to teach him.

He also begs to be allowed in the bathroom so he can play with the shower curtain.

1.Tissues - Jasper hears them come out of the box, pretends he hasn't noticed, but put it down and he pounces and runs off with it. I think at one point he was pulling them out of the tissue box himself.

2. Anything that can be easily knocked off the coffee table. Bonus points if you can touch it with your paw before it hits the ground.

3. Buttons attached to clothing.

There was actually a TV commercial in Australia a while back, in which a man was playing with a kitten using his girlfriends tampons.
