I live in Melbourne,Australia....
Holy cow that's crazy! Ormond Beach isn't exactly what you'd call big by any means, and SO many people from Florida even don't have a clue where it is! That's so fun that you were just there. I spent my first 18 years there, and still try to go home as much as possible!Originally Posted by GratefulBear629
katspixiedust -- I was just in Ormond last week.
I don't have any pics of where I live right now.. will have to put my digital camera to use.
You can always read about Trenton in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books!
All I knew was that the city was named for James Ormond, so I googled the history and here's a snippet of what I found: "North of the Anderson's (Cobbâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s Corner) and Dumettes was the "Damietta," the cotton and indigo plantation of the Ormond family. Captain James Ormond I received a 2,000 acre land grant for his Damietta Plantation. Ormond was killed in 1817 by a runaway slave and the family moved back to Scotland."Originally Posted by KitEKats4Eva!
Ormonde is my boss's surname - it's Scottish - I wonder if there's any connection??
Wow that's awesome. It's always nice to find people who know where the heck you're talking about!Originally Posted by GratefulBear629
I used to go there a lot when I lived in Florida. My friend's grandmother lived right near the beach. We drove through there and stopped on Daytona Beach.
Wow, I'm sorry to hear about everything your cousin had to go through...LP is a wonderful place, so I certainly hope her new life in Chicago has been happyOriginally Posted by KitEKats4Eva!
My cousin lives in Lincoln Park!! She used to live in Battery Park in NY until her building collapsed during 9/11. They lost everything and had to start again, and decided to do so in another city.
Wow how cool! I'm going to ask him about that - maybe he knows more. That's very interesting newsOriginally Posted by katspixiedust

So, it looks like there's a definite possible connection!
