What is the maximum size for photos?

I know I need to resize my photos to post here, but don't know what size to make them.

Assuming you aren't using some funky aspect ratio (height/width ratio) like an iPhone screen cap, a good rule of thumb would be to make your pictures approx. 1,000 pixels on one side. (Either 1,000 px. wide or 1,000 px. tall, depending on how you crop your image.)

1,024 x 768 is a common size. It doesn't really matter whether you are exact. You could make your picture 1,000 x 700 if you want to.

Don't get caught up in worrying about DPI or PPI (Dots per inch / Pixels per inch) When you are posting pictures on the internet, it doesn't really matter because everything on your computer screen will probably be displayed at 72 dpi, regardless of what Photoshop (or other photo editing app) says.

If the pixel dimensions of your photo are in the range of 1,000 pixels and your file size is in the neighborhood of 5-10 MB, you're good. :)
