Did they look under the tongue? My cat had a tumor under her tongue too she was 18 when she got it.
If there is a problem there you will see it and they have lots of saliva.
I didn't know why she had saliva on her fur on her neck, didn't realize there was a problem.
check your cats tongues! unless you have a feral:lol:
They didn't specifically say they looked under the tongue, but I assume they probably looked all over in the mouth during examination. I have attempted to look there myself, but haven't seen anything odd.

Do not assume anything.
My cat had a tumor under her tongue and I had her checked by a specialistic vet. The signs were that she wasn't able to hold kibbles in her mouth and every now and then she was drooling a bit.
The vet looked into my cat's mouth and found nothing, but the problem was right there! :angryfire:

yeah the drool is a heads up, Patchy had saliva on the side of her mouth/neck
I didn't know what it was till it was really bad, I had already postponed heaven for another
problem she was having so it wasn't too devastating that I didn't catch it, she was 18/19 years old.
But I think she was in pain, I wish I would of known they purr when they are in pain.
I am only posting this cuz the more signs we know of better for the next kitty.

Thanks for your replies. He is coming on 11 years in May. I have really looked thoroughly for anything stuck, but can't find anything in the roof of his mouth or between the teeth, and nothing looks odd about the teeth either. Maybe it's something wrong that I can't see, like you suggested. I don't have any plants and he has no access to the toilet (door always closed) and no other toxic liquids etc out. He eats the same food he's always been eating (Whiskas wet + dry food).
I think there may be some sort of gum disease as he has a horrible breath, but it still doesn't explain why he acts like he's trying to pull something out of the mouth? I reuploaded the videos to a different website, let me know if they work now:

I know this is an older post but wanted you to know this thread helped me tremendously. I did a search becase my 18 yr old Kitty is doing the same thing as yours, only he is tearing up his mouth and face in the process. It breaks my heart to see him hurting himself so badly 😥 This threads conversations gave me more info to discuss with my Vet, the FORL and ulcers under the tongue. I feel more confident with his treatment and surgery after reading this and having a conversation with my Vet. Kitty (yep, that's his name) is scheduled for dental surgery 04/22/2021. If anyone reads this, please say a prayer for us. ❤

Oh, I will definitely pray for your sweet Kitty.... My older cat (16 at the time) had to have surgery, it was SO worrisome! They used a lighter anesthetic with him and he came through fine. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May it make his life, and yours, a bit easier.
