No, it's there.. number 8. Sometimes some photos end up with an attachment at the end.. I've been trying to get rid of it, but it makes other photos disappear, so I'm just going to leave it there. You may have looked at it when I was trying to fix it, and the main photo disappeared.

Ah, thanks! I did see it as an attachment, but I haven seen that with prior contests. Now to get back to voting!

Are cats ever bored?

I don't think my cats are ever bored. They look tired, particularly after an energetic game with a catnip toy; they can stare for hours just waiting for an insect to reappear or stand at the front door after hearing a car come to a halt on the drive but they are always waiting expectantly for something to happen rather than simply bored. So no entry from me.
Then came the voting which was just as difficult. I am in the same predicament. As far as I can tell, the photos show either tired cats after some exertion or cats waiting for the next opportunity to become active. Perhaps cats are naturally sleepy or active but never bored - unless kept enclosed for long periods of time and we don't want that, do we!

I have voted. But still not sure I've chosen bored cats. I can imagine an overweight, lazy cat, being tormented by buzzing flies and hiding her face with her paws! But that's probably laziness rather than boredom. The only times, I've seen bored cats, were perhaps the mothers of the well-developed 10 to 12 week-old kittens, I've fostered in the past. The last thing these mamas felt like doing was to lie down and suckle their kittens but they did it occasionally but with a very bored look on their faces. A photo of mama with kittens creates the feeling of "family bliss" rather than martyrdom and boredom!

I think Mama in this photo from Pixabay is really bored - she seems to be saying "When can I escape and get on with my own life? And please don't hurt me!"

Yes, I've done my best and voted - some lovely cat photos - even if I'm not convinced the cats are actually bored! :lol:

There's quite a bit of anthropomorphism that goes on in these competitions

We've had 'celebrating cats', 'cats kissing', 'nerdy cats, 'yoga cats', 'cats helping around the house' - all of them attributing some human behaviour to our cats.
To be honest, it's difficult enough to come up with different ideas each month without precluding ones like this.
There are cats in our competition that do have a 'bored look'... That, along with a good quality photo, are what we're looking for when we vote.

mani - it's reminiscent of favorite cat memes where captions are added to photos of cats, attributing emotions we are only guessing may be the cat's/cats'.
I think the mom cat in the photo looks supremely happy. But that's just me.

I don’t know if cats get bored, but they sure enjoy being entertained, and getting us to entertain them.

When you think how strong the urge to hunt is, and and how much “wildness” is sometimes sacrificed by them for food, love and safety…filling that gap can at least for me be a challenge at times!

cats definitely DO get bored. my pic is number 7. we'd got home from grocery shopping. he got up on the table and was lazily trying to push things off the edge. sort of stopped and had this look of ennui and then flopped down like he was. can't even be bothered to tump anymore. same old same old. the toys get old. the games get old. he doesn't get to chase the birdies. it's boredom.
