Went to visit him, just got home spoke with the doc, she said he has fluid a bit of fluid around the heart and lungs for which they gave him some meds, and they sent a sample to the lab. All of this literally almost overnight. Stayed with him about 45 mins, he got off the table and into my lap. Man... leaving was harder than coming in.

I know the feeling. But hopefully it will be one of those cases where it self resolves with supportive treatment.

I really hope so. Haven't eaten or slept much this week. I grew up with this cat for 15 years, and it hurts a lot.

Brought him home today! Still waiting on the results of the fluid they took. They gave him a heart med, appetite stimulant, antibiotic, some meds to flush his system of fluids, and one other I forget sorry. He's been home for an hour now, and he's drinking non-stop every 5-10 minutes. He went to pee and peed a bit on the floor but I'm guessing he's still weak. Is it normal that he's drinking so much, and is it a result of the meds?

Glad he is home!! But, please check with your vet, if he is on a diuretic to help him clear excess fluids from his body that might be the cause. It might be possible the dose is too high. However, some of the other meds he is being given could possibly cause excess thirst. I would make sure you know all of the meds he is being given, what they are for, and what potential side effects might be.

He's not drinking so much now. Maybe since he got off the IV he needed it. I'll definitely ask the vet. Thank god he's a calm cat. Giving him 5 meds a day would've been a pain...
