Yesterday, a man was speeding down the two-lane, back road here in North Carolina.
To be exact, he was going a mere 99mph in a 45mph zone. He got clocked by a young, town police officer and pulled over. This young p.o. followed normal procedure--license, registration, blah..blah..blah. The man he pulled over was a state highway patrolman, off duty, in his private vehicle. This gentleman intimidated this young p.o. out of writing him a ticket, obviously abusing his authority! Well, the town chief of police is upset with young p.o. and says that the law applies to everyone--in particular, folks of authority--they need to set the example.
The kicker is this--just this time last year, the very same highway patrolman that was going 99 mph, was featured on a news story regarding speeding and reckless driving behavior.
