A girl in Philadelphia has been feeding three cats in a boarded up crack house (the police raided it a few weeks ago and the owner apparently boarded it up and gave the neighbor a key so she could feed the animals). There are 3 cats, two are "extremely pregnant" and the third may be pregnant as well. We are going to be taking them in today or tomorrow; once they are here, we'll see if some of the other local rescue folks can help out or take one or more of them. The main thing is to get them out of the poor environment they are in before the kittens arrive!
Since I know nothing of their condition, I am concerned. Obviously, they're going to be isolated, I would have done that regardless. But if they are flea infested, what is safe for pregnant cats? Can they get Revolution? Flea baths? Or do we just comb them out?
Once they're here, I will get them tested ASAP for FIV/FeLk. From what I was told, they were indoor outdoor cats. They are all friendly (one is shy at first),and are starved for attention. They are "skinny but not too skinny" according to the girl who is caring for them. Once they're here, I will make sure they have kitten food and KMR to boost their nutrition.
Anything else I need to watch out for or need to know?
Will keep you posted, we should be getting the gals tonight or tomorrow. Two are calicos, the third is solid black. Will post pics once they're here. And of course, we'll need to name them!
