I began giving my Tigger 75ml SubQ fluids, 2 days on, then one off a week ago, due to a Creatinine level of 4.9.
Her Creatinine went down to 3.0, but she stopped eating and became extremely ill. I noticed that the last time I gave her fluids, they weren't absorbing.
I notified my vet, who recommended temporarily discontinuing fluids. Today Tigger is starting to improve, and I feel strongly that overhydration is the cause of her illness. Tigger is only 4.5 lbs, so I think the amount of fluid was too much for her.
Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, how do you balance the need to keep kidney values down vs risk of overhydration?
Can anyone with a small CKD cat tell me how much fluids and what frequency you give your cat?
