We made an appointment with a vet hospital 2 hours away from home for a second opinion on whether our Blue could be spayed given that she has brain damage that has caused some neurological problems. The said YES and we are scheduled for surgery on June 16 :-). In fact the surgeon said spaying would end the stress of going through heat cycles. Her overall health is good. Dr said that Blue has adapted to her problems, finding ways to live a happy life in spite of her difficulties. She is 11 months old now and weighs just 5.8 lbs. She is quite clumsy and falls sometimes. It appears that she probably doesn't see or hear perfectly and with her hind legs not working normally, she doesn't always know where she is in her space. We adore her in spite of all her problems but Dr said as long as she is eating, playing and using the litterbox she'll be fine.
