I am SO mad at my grandmother right now.. I caught her feeding my cat, Skinner, a really sugary carrot muffin and a cup of coffee.. yes, COFFEE! I grabbed Skinner before he could finish either of them, but he'd eaten a chunk of the muffin and was lapping at the coffee when I saw him. She had also loaded the coffee with sugar and heavy cream.
I'm really upset about this, as I never, EVER give any kind of "people food" to any of my pets. They are all on natural, organic, grain-free diets.
It's been a couple hours since this happened and so far Skinner isn't showing any signs of ill health (I think I caught him before he ingested too much of either item) but I just wanted to make sure if there was any potential symptoms I should be looking out for. I know coffee especially is terrible for both cats and dogs, as is dairy products and sugary foods.
I'm definitely going to keep a closer eye on Skinner whenever my grandmother's around, I really don't want this to happen again! She has a terrible habit of treating animals like people
