I got my cat about 3 months back and until a few days ago she was doing great. (She is now 6 months old.) We went out to dinner yesterday and when we came back she seemed afraid of everything. Before she used to try to get into whatever she could find. Now she was so afraid of going into the shower, when I opened the door (usually she would go in anytime because most of the time it is closed. She was also pawing my cloths and jumping back. When I made a small sound she jumped back so far that she hit the wall. Even now, one day later she is very afraid of everything that is unexpected.

It sound like something spooked her while you were out. If she is eating, using the litter box normally I would give it a few days and see if she gets back to normal.

I agree with the above. Sounds like something happened that frightened him. Talk to him quietly, make a fuss of him and be patient. Hopefully in a few days he will settle back down.
