Had to make one of the most difficult decisions in a long time tonight. Our little furry man Ralphie ended up having a few tumors that likely were cancerous (we had scheduled removal this thursday), he lost a lot of weight, and you could tell he was not feeling well. We rushed him to the vets where they tried to give him another x-ray and he had fluid in his lungs and chest area. The only way to know for sure was to sedate him for a thorough x-ray, but we were told he may not make it through due to the shallow breathing.
We could tell he was in pain and that the vet said he might only make it another few months so we wanted to spare him from the pain and let him finally rest peacefully. He was a little pain in the butt but he was my little pain in the butt, and I will truly miss him greeting me at the door everyday when I get home. I am grateful to have had him in my life. He was my little sidekick that followed me everywhere, he sat near me the night before which was not normally something he did, and I had no idea the next day we would be putting him to rest. He was only 7 1/2. I think the thing I will miss the most is he was such a talker. He would meow your ear off, and he would actually carry on a conversation with me............He was actually the main reason I enjoyed coming home from work, because he would pop his head through the cat door and greet me............
I'll miss you little guy.
