I'm not into casinos at all. If I'm going to throw money away I will buy myself something. At least then I'll have something to show for it. I will buy a lottery ticket now and then. It's been a while though so maybe I should go get some. I need to win Powerball so I can buy my private island in the Bahamas for the kitties and me. :cloud9:

Ditto, they say your chance of being struck by lightning is greater than winning the Powerball but there's a little voice inside of me that says someone has to win so when the winnings are high I buy a ticket. Other than that I'm not a risk taker, gambler or take chances. I guess I'm just too practical.
ahhh, you'll buy a Powerball ticket when the winnings are high!!! and other than that you're 'just too practical'. most excellent!

that's very similar to my thoughts on playing/winning a lottery! while i'll think 'you can't win if you don't play', i also can see that out of the millions (billions?) of lottery tickets sold/people who bought lottery tickets the chance of winning is so infinitesimal that it hardly seems worth spending my money on a ticket(s). :dunno: but i do totally understand buying a ticket when the winnings are high! :agree:

I don't like gambling. I went to a casino once and walked around looking at the loads of money people were throwing away and was appalled. I mean money is hard to come by-why give it away? I brought $40 to play in the coin machines and they don't even let you put a quarter in there. It's all $1 or more..so I spent $10 and was disgusted. I wanted to put the coin in and pull the handle..but it was interesting that they give free drinks...too bad money is spent so fast.

For the lotto I will play if it's super high but only $10 worth. I don't usually do lotto for charity as I am hard to get ahold of on my phone and don't want to have to drive back to pick up whatever it is...guess I am weird and I don't like to give my money away for nothing-I often will donate a few dollars to said cause but generally don't do gambling...
yes, exactly!! :agree:

you know, my dad was given an old slot machine (many, many years ago). this was when i was a kid. it had the handle you pull, and it took nickels...yes, nickels!!! out of all the nickels we put into that machine, it never dumped out 'the jackpot'. it was interesting as a kid, but we lost interest in it pretty quickly.

you'll play the lotto if it's super high!!! and you'll donate a few dollars to a cause, but generally don't do gambling. very nice! :)

In my younger days some of my coworkers and me would go out on Friday nights and play Bingo. That was a lot of fun and I was lucky.

I also used to play the footballs they had at work. There were a lot of fun. I was also lucky at them. One time I won $1,500 playing the super bowl pool. Ten years ago that was a lot of money.

I've been to casino's in Vegas and Canada and all I ever played were the slot machines. I never won much but had a lot of fun. I can see how people get addicted to them.

I have never been to a casino. I never felt the need to gamble; however I am going on an 'experience' this week. I am on a social committee and we are sponsoring a day trip to a casino. It will be a first for me. I am taking it as a 'case study'. The trip fee includes $10 for gambling and $10 towards the buffet or any restaurant in this resort/casino.

I am only planning on spending the $10 they provide.. no more.. I cannot afford it.

As far as the lottery. I used to play the quick picks, occasionally when the pot was big. I never won anything. Now, I could care less, and feel I can use that money for something else: like Artie.
that sounds like a very nice 'case study', experience!!! and that's what i'd do if it were me too -- only spend the money that's included in the trip fee.

i understand! there are always other, higher priority things to spend our money on. :agree:

I don't but lottery tickets too much these days and never really did. Once a year, I will probably take about $20 and buy 10 $2 tickets, to get it out of my system, like a vacation splurge. One time I won around $130 by doing that. I will buy all ten tickets from the same strip. I don't care to do it any longer because the last couple of times it's been a total waste!

It seems when you buy the $2 tickets, you will win $4 on it, turn it in, then win $2 on those, buy another, win $1, buy another, win$2, turn it in to win $4, you get what I mean. :dizzy:  :dizzy:  :dizzy::dizzy: I don't find it worth it for me.
you don't buy lottery tickets any longer!!! that makes sense, that it doesn't seem worth it!! :agree:

I'm not competitive or a risk-taker; so it's a no from me.

Board games or card games for fun are different. Those are more my style. But then; there is always a very intense game of Scrabble at our church picnic every year. Dictionaries are brought. So even with those I'm "selective" about what I'll play!
ahhh, so you play board or card games purely for the fun of it!!! most excellent!!

intense or very competitive games aren't my 'cup of tea' either. :)

I play Solitaire everyday on king.com, but never for money, just for fun. It's a UK website, and I believe in the UK, you can play for money. They have hundreds of games.

I've bought lottery tickets from time to time, as everyone says, when the pot gets high. But gambling in general doesn't interest me. We went to Deadwood, CO, on vacation once, and the casinos were clanging away everywhere, but not one tempted me. We watched Wild Bill Hickok get killed instead. They murder him every night in the summer. :p
you play solitaire!!! those are some of my favorite games to play -- and i don't play for money either. :)

and lottery tickets when the pot gets high!! :agree: very cool, that you got to see Wild Bill Hickok get killed there in Deadwood, CO!
