good morning! :wave3:

today's Question of the Day is one which is out of my own idle curiosity......

Do you play any 'games of chance'? (can be any kind -- for example, card games, casino games/slot machines, even buying tickets to drawings or lottery tickets)

i'll start!

i'll play card games, but never play games involving betting or money. i don't even enjoy playing for peanuts or m&m's. :dunno:

i've actually never been to a casino, and no interest in going to one. i don't buy lottery tickets, but will (occasionally) buy a ticket to a drawing if the proceeds will be going to a church or charity.

okay, now it's your turn!

Nope, it's not my thing at all. I've bought raffle tickets for a charity on a few very rare occasions, but it's not something I do habitually.

Rick buys lottery tickets from time to time, usually when the jackpot gets high. He also enjoys the casinos. I don't buy tickets and, when we go to casinos, I take a book along and hang out in a restaurant with a Pepsi or sit in a chair somewhere and read.

My best friend is a Pentecostal preacher and he never buys lottery tickets or even raffle tickets. When he's asked to buy a raffle ticket, he'll simply donate money to the cause. The cause still gets the money, so it works out and he doesn't offend anybody.

I never got into any type of games of chance. I don't have any moral issues with it at least for people who don't have a problem with it which is most, I just never got into it.

As I read through the posts, I thought, "yeah, all our free cash goes to pet toys, food, treats and litter!" LOL

I also never bother with games of chance.

When the Lottery gets really high sometimes I'll play.
Ditto, they say your chance of being struck by lightning is greater than winning the Powerball but there's a little voice inside of me that says someone has to win so when the winnings are high I buy a ticket. Other than that I'm not a risk taker, gambler or take chances. I guess I'm just too practical.

I don't like gambling. I went to a casino once and walked around looking at the loads of money people were throwing away and was appalled. I mean money is hard to come by-why give it away? I brought $40 to play in the coin machines and they don't even let you put a quarter in there. It's all $1 or more..so I spent $10 and was disgusted. I wanted to put the coin in and pull the handle..but it was interesting that they give free drinks...too bad money is spent so fast.

For the lotto I will play if it's super high but only $10 worth. I don't usually do lotto for charity as I am hard to get ahold of on my phone and don't want to have to drive back to pick up whatever it is...guess I am weird and I don't like to give my money away for nothing-I often will donate a few dollars to said cause but generally don't do gambling...

The free drinks is too loosen inhibitions so people will gamble more. They also have the buffets close by, can't have people going too far to get something to eat. I can't believe they make much if any money off those buffets they are there to keep people gambling longer.

I have never been to a casino. I never felt the need to gamble; however I am going on an 'experience' this week. I am on a social committee and we are sponsoring a day trip to a casino. It will be a first for me. I am taking it as a 'case study'. The trip fee includes $10 for gambling and $10 towards the buffet or any restaurant in this resort/casino.

I am only planning on spending the $10 they provide.. no more.. I cannot afford it.

As far as the lottery. I used to play the quick picks, occasionally when the pot was big. I never won anything. Now, I could care less, and feel I can use that money for something else: like Artie.

Also they are allowed to smoke in the casino-that turned me off!!! So be forwarned! They have a non smoking section but I know you struggle with allergies etc-if it's Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun
-I can't remember which one it was- it's been about 10 years since I have been-but they are allowed to smoke even in the mall that's attached to the casino-I will never go back!

I don't but lottery tickets too much these days and never really did. Once a year, I will probably take about $20 and buy 10 $2 tickets, to get it out of my system, like a vacation splurge. One time I won around $130 by doing that. I will buy all ten tickets from the same strip. I don't care to do it any longer because the last couple of times it's been a total waste!

It seems when you buy the $2 tickets, you will win $4 on it, turn it in, then win $2 on those, buy another, win $1, buy another, win$2, turn it in to win $4, you get what I mean. :dizzy:  :dizzy:  :dizzy::dizzy: I don't find it worth it for me.

Going to Foxwoods.. there has to be a non-smoking section. Thanks for the info. I know several people who have been to both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, recently; no mention of smoke...

I'm not competitive or a risk-taker; so it's a no from me.

Board games or card games for fun are different. Those are more my style. But then; there is always a very intense game of Scrabble at our church picnic every year. Dictionaries are brought. So even with those I'm "selective" about what I'll play!

I play Solitaire everyday on king.com, but never for money, just for fun. It's a UK website, and I believe in the UK, you can play for money. They have hundreds of games.

I've bought lottery tickets from time to time, as everyone says, when the pot gets high. But gambling in general doesn't interest me. We went to Deadwood, CO, on vacation once, and the casinos were clanging away everywhere, but not one tempted me. We watched Wild Bill Hickok get killed instead. They murder him every night in the summer. :p
