I grew up right where I am living now, North Carolina. Except for some time I spent with my other parent as a teenager, I have always lived in the county where I was born. We lived up the road for twenty five years. Then we built a house on family land that had been passed down for about two hundred years. So I am home, really home. The old home place was not fixable. So we had it taken down and put our home here. It is on three acres of land surrounded by the rest of the family land that is still farmed. Some of the acreage is owned by relatives. Some of it has been sold out of the family. But all of it except for where our house is, is still farmed.
