We have the soonest Vet Appointment scheduled for this Saturday, but I'm very anxious as of this morning about my 1 year old cat. Athena
My outdoor/indoor cat has been showing much more affectionate behavior for the last 3-4 weeks. Initially we thought she may be pregnant: ribs widened, loss of appetite, sleep increased to 20 hours a day- mostly in new found hiding spots, but she was still yearning to play outside- she's usually extremely active. Her nipples are slightly more noticeable, but they're not colored/swollen enough for me to consider them pinking. However, In the last 4 days I've noticed she hasn't pooped in her litter box or elsewhere in the house, and her waist has drastically shrunk from her loss of appetite.
She's down almost a lb, now weighing 7.3 lbs. This morning while snuggling near my husband she urinated on his desk, and shortly later the rug; but she hasn't shown any signs of pain. She went lethargically in to eat some food and water, and immediately perked up when she heard birds chirping in the sunshine.
On her sides below the ribs, I've noticed she's has 2 lumps that are mobile and firm.
They don't seem to hurt her, and she doesn't mind having them palpated, but she hates being adjusted in position while sitting on our laps so much she hisses. I'm having trouble deciding if these are the kidneys or the uterine horn, or possibly lumps of a kitten (thought I'm beginning to feel I was mistakenly hopeful) and I'm wondering if anyone knows a more definitive way to determine if she's in pain, and if so- caused by what? Regardless of the issue, she will be well taken care of. Saturday is so far away I'd like to have an idea of what to look for, how to take care of her, and what to tell my vet later.
