some back story: https://thecatsite.com/threads/Pitter-is-Still-Sick.401398/#post-5005306

:hellosmiley:
Last week, Pitter was diagnosed with hypokalemia and put on a potassium supplement.
{One 468mg tablet a day - Potassium Gluconate - “RenaPlus”}

I am wondering if that could be {at least part of} the reason for his improved mood the last few days? He's still not feeling very good, but just seems like he has little bursts of sheer happiness – for lack of better words – that I haven't seen in months. Whatever the reason, i
t's awesome to see!
:yess:

MORE DETAILS
Since his little sister takes anti-seizure meds every 8 hours, and I have to cut the potassium tablets up anyway {cuz they're freakin' huge,} both P+P take their meds at the same time now.

He gets ½ tablet at breakfast time cuz that's when he usually eats the most, so I give him the big dose of the day. The next two doses of the day are both ¼ tab. If he hasn't eaten lately, he gets a few *treats along with it so it's not hitting an empty stomach.
Along with popping ¼ or ½ tablet down him, I've been giving him 5cc of water {oral syringe} each time.

*P+P eat wet food only. For treats, I have some high-end kibble that I give them. It's like kitty-crack!

:headscratch: Sometimes I have to be on potassium and magnesium and I feel much better so it probably helps Pitter as well. I am glad that you are getting answers. What is the next step in figuring out the abdominal mass? As so often happens, one thing leads to another - my disabled daughter lost over 80 lbs in the past year & it turns out that she was very low on B1, B12, potassium, Vit D, Vit E. Supplements helped but her weight loss was still very bad - she still had to spend a weekend in hospital getting IVs of electrolytes. Finally, I found a doctor to test for food sensitivities and found out that she must avoid all that we were giving her to keep her weight up! that included milk (including casein & whey), ginger, gluten, baker's yeast, eggs, kale, beans (including green & lima), legumes, etc. So now her diet includes meat :rolleyes: She is still very thin but stabilized at 116#. It's scary because she had a sarcoma in her thigh back in 2013 - ironically at the spot where she got the DPT vaccination that caused her initial brain damage. It is like following a maze :hmmm:

Thanks catsknowme catsknowme . Hopefully, the mood improvement isn't temporary! {That's why I was wondering.}

Pitter's vet has referred us to a specialist for ultrasounds {about $600} and possibly a biopsy. They can't give me a guesstimate on the biopsy cuz it varies so much from case to case.

idk when we'll be able to do that . . . we shall see . . .
:dunno: :gaah:
