Oh good! So then you can get the little spoons too!:clap::clap::clap::clap:
Yep - I feed 1.6oz per meal, so, I use- for the eggshells:

one of the SMIDGEN = 1/32 tsp flat (One of these will balance one ounce of muscle meat )
and one of the DROP = 1/64 tsp slightly round

For the taurine powder, I just put one of the:
PINCH = 1/16 tsp
per meal

So I have the 3 little tiny spoons on a ring...... I would be NOTHING without them :lol3:

Yes I can get the little spoons!

So I need to be adding taurine too? Should I be adding anything else?

That's ok, I was wondering why you mentioned Canada the first time, but didn't really think anything more until you mentioned it again.
Nope I am not that far from you. I guess I have to worry more about you stealing them than Carolina, she is further away.

Well, you can use a probiotic if you want to. I think in kittens it's a really good idea. In fact, I think for cats and people it's a really good idea, no matter what you're eating. :lol3: I use Natural Factors acidophilus+bifidus supplement. Because it's 10 billion active CFU, you can split the capsule between the two girls (a child-size dose). For the adult cats, I use the whole capsule on one meal a day.

Another good idea is an omega 3 supplement. Not necessary, but it helps bring the omega 6: omega 3 ratio down to something closer to their natural diet. I buy a 1,000mg salmon oil supplement (this one: and I pierce the capsule, and put 3-4 drops on each meal. For the little girls, I'd probably just use 2-3 drops.

Just curious what is the difference of using salmon oil versus just fish oil? I give my dog fish oil daily because she has developed skin issues as she had aged.

Random note I added a few new pictures of the girls in their picture thread.

I have made a discovery... Penelope will eat everything I put down for her no problem. Delilah will eat everything off her plate as long as it is chicken. If it is anything else she will only eat half. Now if I mix beef or whatever it is with chicken she will finish her plate. So I guess the key to getting her to eat well is chicken. :lol3: I havent tried any organs yet because she has been inconsistent on what and how much she will eat. I was feeding her wet again while she was sick and not eating well because she was at least eating that better. I am going to order some lysine for them because they seem to keep having minor issues wherpes flare ups. I should be able to add that to raw for them right.

Oh yes, definitely. Billy and Flowerbelle get lysine. I buy the loose powder (NOW), and just sprinkle it on top of their food (with the calcium on top of that). They just eat it! I hope your girls will too.

And YAY! That was the trick with Sheldon too. It's not that he didn't like the stuff, he just couldn't keep red meats down. But if I make it 50/50 red meat/light meat, it works. I'm so glad you figured out a method that works for little Delilah!

OH you are SO lucky to have found something as a mixer to introduce new meats!!:clap: Such good little girls :heart3: I also use the Now Lysine Perla, my herpes kitty, gets 500 mg. am/pm. BUT for kittens it would be less. Maybe start with 250 mg. per day :dk: The specialist that sees Perla told me that most vets say that 500 mg. per day if sufficient. She says that it is now recommended that adult cats get 500 mg. twice daily. I would check with the vet as most vets highly recommend Lysine for most herpes kitties and their housemates. All of my cats get the Lysine daily now. ( 500 mg. = 1/4 tsp. 250 mg. = 1/8 tsp.)

So happy for the wonderful raw update on the girls. A good healthy, nutritious diet for them will make all the difference in them overcoming these kitten "cold" flareups. :bigthumb:

The vet gave me the little bit of gel lysine to get them through till I can order some for them. She told me to give them how ever much the package of what I get says to give them. But I guess if I order human stuff it won't have the dosage. But the gel stuff says to give kittens half of what adults get so 250 makes sense.

There are a few new pictures of the girls in Theo picture thread. You can see Delilahs color change going on.

Yeah it is expensive that way a 5 oz tube is I think $25. I decided to order online with that kind of price. It is bright yellow and according to the ingredients listed on it maple flavored. Strange choice of flavoring for something that is labeled for cats.

I need to take some new pictures of the girls Delilah is developing a lot of white in her coat, kinda like the tips are white and the roots are black in some places especially her tail.
