They are drinking water now!
I had to completely separate them and momma cat this weekend. I had them in a big play pen in my daughter's room for awhile, but every time I would open the door momma cat would go flying out and attack Kib and Rosie. So,now they are in my son's old room we had made in half of our garage. Much better! And momma cat is getting spayed next week.
If she's still nursing the kittens I would hold off spaying until momma cat has weaned them off.  How old are the kittens now ? All better with their URIs ?

Uri's are gone. I'm making the appointment next week is what I meant, and babies will be over 6 weeks. I've spoken to our vet and I got the go ahead.

Of course she will, I'm thinking about other potential issues:

1) mammary glands getting in way of surgery

2) kitten going longer than 24hrs without momma milk

3) potential contamination of milk with anesthetic or pain meds

4) momma cat sensitivity of glands with kitten suckling right after surgery

Unless momma cat is roaming outside and likely to get pregnant again, I don't see any reason not to hold off until she's done weaning. 6-8 weeks or in some cases 10 weeks.

If you've read my story of this kitty family you will see that having her inside has been very rough. I brought her in when she had babies. She escapes every room we put her in and attacks our inside cats, drawing blood. She is used to being outside. She will be fixed and let out once in awhile until babies are weaned.

Sorry, I haven't read every single one of the 150+ posts. Your first post in this thread didn't mention attacking your inside cats.

I was just trying to help, but it seems like you're all taken care of.

It's ok,just wanted to clarify...I love all my kitties and wouldn't be having her spayed yet unless it was absolutely necessary. ;)

At what age can a kitten be spayed/neutered? And different subject: These babies are using the litter box to pee in,yay! But still no interest in kitten food. 6 weeks yesterday.

Kittens can be spayed at 8 weeks or when they reach 2 pounds.

They probably aren't quite ready to eat yet. I'm sure they will be soon. Are you mixing the kitten food into a mush with KMR?

So momma cat is home from being spayed, all went well. Wondering about the incision area though. .It's not in the middle of her belly,it's up higher almost between nipples. Looks way different than our other two cats.

That's different. I'm not familiar with that. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

I'm glad she's doing well though. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I called the vet. They said sometimes the incision is in a different spot because of how the uterus is positioned. Interesting.
