Promoting Animal Life (PAL)
Oklahoma Cityâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s “No-Kill†Campaign
Mass killing of pets because of cost, over-population, convenience, uncorrected behavior problems or because of unnecessary obstacles to pet ownership, is a failure of the entire community. It is a failure of community systems, a failure to implement pro-active and successful animal welfare programs, and a failure of individual owners to act appropriately. Widespread and chronic animal-related problems that impact a communityâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s animal sheltering and control functions is reflective of a culture that fails to embrace animal life as valuable, fails to engage in long-term planning that could minimize negative impacts over time, and that fails to adequately address community animal control needs at almost every level.
Creating a “no-kill†community requires actively working toward the six major goals of adoption, reclaim, rescue, pet keeping, feral cat care, and sterilization. Each goal plays a key role in reducing shelter intake, increasing the placement of animals through adoption and rescue, and preventing future births of unwanted pets.
Oklahoma City and its co-sponsors invite you to participate in the Cityâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s first “No-Kill†conference, featuring Nathan Winograd of No Kill Solutions, Inc., as we work in partnership to end the killing of healthy animals in Oklahoma City and throughout the OKC metro area. Everyone welcome.
