Hi everyone! I joined this site because of some problems with a new cat. I figured it was time to introduce myself!
My name is Nikki and my other half here is Bubbles. I got him when he was about 2 from my sister who found him. And probably regretted giving him up since he is such a lovable cat. He is around 6 now and basically just a giant, posable, talkative, cuddlebug. He comes when I whistle and I just throw him over my shoulder and carry him all around the house. Biased opinion, but best cat ever
I lost one of my cats last fall, MaoMao, at 10 years old and another cat the year before, Rascal, 16. Since Bubs always tried to be friends with the other cats, I thought he might be getting lonely so I went out looking for a companion for him. And found Annabel Lee at our local shelter. It's only been two weeks and they are actually hitting it off amazingly well! She is super sweet and much more outgoing than our previous cats, so I think they are a good match.
As we were going through shelters looking for a companion cat, my mother fell in love with another one, Augustus, 5 years old. He was a super sweetheart at the shelter but is having a bit of a hard time adjusting (I'm being diplomatic). He's been here less than a week so we (or I am anyway) are working on him. After he attacked me (nasty wound) and my father ended up in the hospital with an infected bite, I think a lot of our problem now is our own fear rather than him still acting feral. I am working with him though and he is really forcibly wanting pets and attention (the most recent attack was when I had stopped petting him) so I have high hopes. It's just going to be a process! I don't want to give up on him though. I hope they know how much trouble and stress we go through for them
Here is a picture of him one of the times we visited him at the shelter. He is a beauty, I hope that trust builds between all of us!
Hope to learn and share a lot on these boards!
~Nikki
