Hello there!
I'm new to this forum, but I did read a couple of threads in the last few months.
I got my Siberian kitten, Happy, 4 weeks ago, a little bit before he was 10 weeks old.
He couldn't make me happier (which is why I named him Happy!) And he is always purring and happy-go-lucky, even after I treated him for his eye infection.
I have been waiting for 5 years to get my "own" kitten (I always had "other people's cats" since I had 2 kittens with my ex but we were not living together and my roommate who moved out recently has 2 rescued cats) and to be able to pet him and hold him in my arms. I was actually waiting to live alone with my boyfriend to get my "furry baby". I wanted a male, black cat I would have taken from a shelter... but my plans kind of changed, even though black cats are my favorite.
I never expected to get a pure breed cat, so, why a Siberian, you ask? I'm really allergic to cats, and Siberians produce a lot less Fel-D1, which makes them not exactly "hypoallergenic", but will not give you as much or at all allergic reactions. My boyfriend is even more allergic than me, and when we tested "fresh" adult Siberian fur samples on ourselves, we were surprised when we our bodies didn't react at all to the samples.
I really enjoy being a "kitten-mom", more than any words could express. Happy is a cuddly and loving little furball and I'm looking forward to see him grow up (he's already so much bigger than a month ago!) And share my good and bad experiences with fellow cat lovers here.
I'm sorry for this very long post. I will probably have a lot of silly questions in the near future. But thank you so much (in advance) for your replies!
